A smile formed on my lips as I woke up to the handsome face of Xander as he sleeps next to me while sitting on the chair and his head on the bed. I tried to move my hand, but realized that he was holding it, so I relaxed.

My heart flustered in excitement and my cheeks heat up as memories of last night or hours ago rather, flooded my mind. We finally kissed after several years, and d a m n! I didn’t know I missed it so much. Yes, I always knew I did miss every single touch of his, but I had no idea it was that deep.

How his lips tasted, the way he held me in his arms like he never wanted to let go, and that magical feeling I had at that time was everything. I wanted the moment to last till eternity, but sadly, we had to stop so I could rest.

‘Hunter’ It was unfair that I was just thinking about him now since hours ago, but what could I do when my thoughts and everything were occupied by the presence of Xander?

“Where could he be?” I muttered. He saved me, so I should be worried about him, right?

“You are awake?” I felt butterflies in my stomach when Xander raised his head to me, his sleepy charming eyes gazing into mine tiredly. His hair was disheveled as a result of his sleeping position, and he looked super hot as always.

“Hmm… Good morning,” I turned my face away, embarrassed. I could not bring myself to look him in the eyes after what happened between us last

“Good morning. How are you feeling now? Do you want me to call the doctor?” I felt a rush of adrenaline as he placed the back of his palm on my forehead to feel my temperature briefly.

“No, I’m fine,” My voice came out almost in a whisper, my heart pulsating hard against my chest.

“Hmm… Are you sure you are not feeling pain anywhere?” He asked for the second time to confirm, and I nodded.

My stomach grumbled, and I slowly rubbed it while holding my gaze low

“You must be hungry. I will go get you something to eat,” He tried to stand up, but I held his hand before I could hold myself back.

“Is everything alright?” He looked at me, worried.

“I’ll be back shortly,” He smiled at me before he finally left, and I breathed out.

His face looked gloomy, and I didn’t need to ask what the problem was before knowing what it really was. He was probably sad or mad because Xander came around, and that only made me feel guilty. I should not have contacted Xander and just allow him to take care of me.

“I told you to be careful, Mom. I told you to let me follow you. What would we have done if something happened to you?” Tears streamed down Jake’s worried eyes as they gazed at me.

“Come on, sweetheart. You don’t have to cry. Mommy is fine now,” I ruffled his hair and smiled at him.

“Don’t ever leave the house alone, ok? What will happen to us if something happens to you, huh?” Jake nudged my arm, and 1 chuckled.

“I won’t. Mommy will be fine,” I assured him, and he nodded.

“Ma’am…” Chloe stepped forward with a worried expression on her face.

“How are you feeling now? Are you sure you are better now?” She looked at me worriedly, and I nodded.

“You don’t have to worry about me. I’m fine. I was brought to the hospital on time, so no damage

was caused,” I smiled at her, and she slowly nodded.

“I made breakfast for you. Falso brought a few stuff you’ll be needing. Your toothbrush and toothpaste. I didn’t know how long you’ll be staying in the hospital, so I brought some clothes in case you want to change into them,” She explained to me, and I nodded as I told her ‘thank you’.

“I was going to get something for you when I saw Chloe. Since she already brought breakfast, I thought there won’t be need to buy something else. Do you want me to get you juice?” Xander stepped forward and gazed at me, but I shook my head.

“Uncle… Thank you so much,” Jake turned to Xander and said cutely.

“Thank you for staying by mommy’s side, uncle,” Jack added as he turned to Xander.

Xander’s eyes were filled with sadness as he squatted in front of them though he tried to cover it up with smiles. I guess he was sad because of the way they addressed him.

“You don’t have to thank me. It’s my responsibility,” He looked into their eyes like a proud father and smiled at them warmly before he pulled them into

his arms.
