Chapter 80

Chapter 80

“You need to come to the hospital right away, Mr. Hughes. Your Mom is in a critical condition’ Xander had rushed off earlier after he got a call from the hospital where his Mom was admitted.

His hands almost trembled as he drove down the road recklessly. Even though the woman has hurt him, he could not help the fear that had taken over him the moment he heard that news. The fear of losing her.

“Please hang in there,” He kept muttering those words to himself while praying silently for his creator to keep her alive.

The ride to the hospital was unusually long. At least, that was what Xander felt, but it was still the same distance.

Xander pulled over at the parking lot once he drove into the hospital compound minutes later, and after he alighted from the car, he ran as fast as his legs could carry him.

“Where is r

smy Mom? Where is she?” He rushed to one of the nurses who was rushing down the walkway once he stepped out of the elevator.

“I have no idea who your Mom is, but we are busy now. I don’t have time to talk,” The nurse replied to him while hurrying away, and this only drove him

crazy even more.

His heart sank when he arrived at the ward where his Mom has been, but there was no sign of her there.

was obviously not on his seat

Xander stood hopelessly along the hallway, confused about what to do or who to run to for inquiries because the doctor was since there was an emergency in the hospital.

His attention was drawn by the sound of one of the doors opening, and when he took his attention there, he spotted a female nurse who just stepped out

of the ward.

“Excuse me, please,” He hurried over to the nurse who walked off without giving him a chance to talk.

“Why is no one talking to me? What is going on?” Fear gripped him, scared that something might’ve happened to her. Just then, his attention was drawn to the door beside him, and that was when the realization dawned on him that he was standing in front of the emergency room.

His nightmare welcomed him as he looked through the transparent door. His Mom was lying there on the bed with an oxygen tank over her face while the doctor was doing his best to save her,

A drop of tears dropped down Xander’s cheek and he bit his lip hafd. Losing any of his loved ones has always been his biggest fear, and now that his Mom was at the verge of death, he could not stop his anxiety. What if she didn’t make it out there alive? What if she eventually lose her life? How was he going

to cope?

“Xander…” Came Lily’s voice as she hurried down the walkway.

got a call… How is she? What happened to her?” Lily’s eyes were filled with tears and her body trembled as she covered her mouth when she saw her

Mom in that condition.

“it’s all my fault… It’s all my fault, Kander… Mom is going to die because of me,” Tears streamed down her cheeks and her legs wobbled on the floor.

Her words drew Xander’s attention, wondering what she was talking about, but without asking any question, he pulled her into his arms and slowly patted her back.

“Shhhh! She will be fine,” Though he wasn’t sure if she will really be fine yet, she still assured her.

“You should go sit over there. She’ll be fine, I promise,” He led her to sit on a bench along the walkway then patted her back and walked back to stand

guard in front of the emergency room.

For the umpteenth time, Xander checked his wristwatch for the time, but it was almost as if the time has not moved ever since, and it was frustrating it was taking forever for the doctor to feed him back about his Mom’s health, and if the door was not locked from inside, he would’ve forced his way in

already.

About ten minutes passed before the doctor came outside.

“How is my Mom? is she fine? How is she now, please?” Xander’s heart raced as he looked into the doctor’s eyes.

“She is out of danger now, Xander. You need to calm down,” The doctor patted his shoulder then smiled at him.

“She had a panic attack and broke down. You shouldn’t let her have access to phone for now. One more thing… She needs to get some rest, so you can’t see her now,” With one more pat on his shoulder, the doctor finally walked away.

Xander gave his Mom a long stare before he walked over to Lily whose face was buried in her palms as she whimpered.

“She’s out of danger now. You don’t need to panic,” He patted her shoulder after he sat beside her, and she raised her gaze to him.

“The doctor said she had a panic attack, but she’s out of danger now,”

“It’s all my fault, Xander. She must’ve broken down after she saw what I did,” She whimpered.

Xander looked at her confusingly, trying to figure out or understand rather, what she meant by that. Just then, his phone started to ring, and he swiped

the answer button when he saw the caller was his Dad.

“Where the hell is Lily? She is not taking my calls,” His Dad’s raging voice resonated in the other end, and he glanced at Lily. With the tone his Dad was using, he knew well that something must’ve happened.

“Is everything alright?”

“I got a call from the hospital that your Mom collapsed. She must’ve seen the news on the internet. How could Lily be that s t u p i d?”

“What news?” Xander’s face dropped as he looked at Lily.

“Tell your sister to fix the mess right away. I can’t afford my family name to be out there in the public, being abused. Tell that idiot to do something!”

As soon as the call ended, Xander searched the internet, and his jaw dropped when he saw the trending news, Lily had exposed the secret about what

their Mom did.

Slowly, he looked at Lily whose attention was on him now.

“Mom will never forgive me. It’s all my fault,” She whispered and buried her face in her palms again.

‘How could she call herself a Mom?” Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the FɪndNøvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“I bet she would never have done that to her if she knew the woman is going to become successful

‘This is why I hate wealthy people. Most of them think that the world only revolves around them. She is so disgusting. I would disown her if I was her daughter’

“She is not a mother to be proud of. I’m cutting ties with her right away if I was her child. Such a disgusting and sell-centered woman’

That woman needs to be arrested along with the doctor. His hospital should be brought down. Gosh! This is disgusting Xander’s fingers trembled as he slowly scrolled through comments which of course could send anyone into depression right away.

“I didn’t know it was going to result to this… I didn’t know this was going to happen,” She shook her head in tears.

“Shhh! Come here,” He pulled her into his arms and patted her back slowly.

“I’m proud of you. It’s not your fault, so don’t blame yourself for it. You did the right thing, and I’m proud of you for that,” He kissed her hair and embraced her warmly.

“Mom is going to be fine, I promise,” He assured her…
