Summer Frost POV 

However, my smile disappeared when I arrived at the living room and found him with the little girl from the other day. What’s her name 

again? Yes, Ella! His cousin. 

The look on her face was unwelcoming as she glared at me displeasingly. 

“Daddy, why is she here?” She looked up at Xander inquisitively while holding on tightly to the teddy bear in her hand. She was wearing a pinklong gown, and her hair was packed in two tight ponytails. 

“You are here?” Xander looked at me with a smile on his face as he left her hand and came to stand in front of me. 

“How’re 

re you? You don’t look fine. Is everything alright?” He looked at me observantly, but I quickly shook my head and smiled at him. 

“I’m fine.” 

“Daddy, I asked why she is here. Is she not the same woman that slapped you the other day? Is she here to cause trouble again?” Came Ella’s voice again, getting Xander’s attention. He walked over to her and crouched down to her size. 

“Don’t talk to her like that. I told you to always respect elders when you see one. He scolded her but more in a gentle manner. 

“But she slapped you,” She pouted her lips as she reminded him of that day, and I scoffed. 

“Come on, you should say hi to her,” He stood up then held her hand and turned to face me. 

“Say hi to her,” He urged her, and she hesitated before she muttered a ‘hi‘ accompanied with an eye roll. Too much attitude for her age. 

“Why is she here though?” She looked up at him and asked the same question once again, determined to know what was happening. 

“Summer…” Instead, he looked at me with a smile on his face as he called my name. “Ella’s nanny went on a long break, and since Lisa is not always in the house, I had to bring her over here to stay with us for a while. I’m sorry for not telling you about it earlier, it was kind of urgent,” He apologised to me though he had no reason to. I mean, it’s his house, and it’s up to him what he wants to do with it, yeah? 

“Us? Are you living together now?” She looked traumatised like she just heard something she never should have, and her reaction made me chuckle briefly and silently. 

“It’s nice to meet you again, Ella,” I finally walked over to her and crouched down to her size. 

“I don’t like you,” She told me honestly, her eyes didn’t fail to add to the sincerity. 

“I know. For some reason, I don’t seem to like you either…” I paused and ruffled her hair briefly as I gave her a warm smile. 

“Don’t touch my hair,” She frowned her face, 

“But I think you’ll become my favourite soon, I hope we get along pretty well, and not just with me alone though…” I paused, and just then, I heard footsteps hopping down the staircase as my kids’s laughter filled the air.

“You are home, uncle Xander?” Jack’s excited voice sounded behind me before he ran past me and went to hug Xander. 

“I’ve missed you so much,” He whined as he wrapped his arms around Xander’s neck once he was squatted down to his level. 

“Uncle Xander…” Came Jake’s voice as he rushed to join them in the hug, and the sight was everything for me. 

“Dad! What are they doing here?” Ella’s shriek drew the kids attention, and I guess it was after they pulled away from Xander that they 

noticed she was in the house with us, 

“Ella… You are here?” Jack smiled as he went to stand in front of her, but she scoffed and rolled her eyes. 

“Daddy! Why are they here?” She looked at Xander angrily while demanding an answer to her question. 

“First, it was this woman, and now the kids?” She huffed.

“Don’t talk to mommy in that manner. You can’t just call her ‘this woman, and… We are older than you, so stop referring to us as kids!” Jake defensively went to stand in front of Jack angrily. 

“And what are you going to do about it if I call you that? Beat me?” She scoffed and rolled her eyes dramatically. 

“Come on, kids… You don’t have to fight eachother. Stop being rude, Ella. Jake, stop, please… You all should stop,” Xander squatted in between them as they glared at eachother while I just allowed him to handle them because for some reason, I enjoyed every bit of this. 

“I don’t like them!” She stated bluntly and turned her face away. 

“Not that we do either, anyway,” Jake spoke up defensively, and I sighed. 

“It’s ok, guys. Why don’t you all go upstairs, hmm? Jake, since Ella is new here, you should take her to the room you two share. Don’t you think? Xander turned to Jake and stroked his hair gently. 

“I don’t want to, daddy!” 

“I told you to stop being rude, Ella, Xander threw her a brief glare before he looked back at Jake and smiled at him. 

“Will you do that, hmm? You can come downstairs for dinner in an hour,” 

“Alright, uncle. I will do that,” 

Ella hesitantly followed them to the stairs, and just before she took the staircase, she paused. 

“What about my luggage?” 

“Don’t worry and go ahead. I will bring it to the room later,” She finally left after he replied to her, and I breathed out. 

“Sorry about that. Ella can be- 

“It’s fine. She’s not so bad. That’s how kids are,” I dismissed it with a smile, and he nodded. 

“Why don’t you get some rest, hmm? I will go make dinner for us. You can go to your room. I will call you once it’s ready,” 

“I will make dinner. You should go shower and change,” I walked past him and headed toward the kitchen.

“I’ve been at home all day, and you were outside, so you should shower. I’ll be fine…” I cut him off as he followed me into the bathroom. “What would you like to have, anyway?” I turned to him, and he shrugged as he muttered “anything is fine“. 

“Go ahead then. I’ll call you when dinner is ready,

Once he left, I swung into action. It had been a while since I last cooked since Chloe was always doing the cooking for me back home, but I still know how to cook, anyway.

“Alright. I’ll go get the kids and join you shortly,” She uttered before leaving, and shortly after, she returned with all the kids and we began. eating. 

“Thanks for the food, mommy,” My kids took turn in appreciating me once they were done eating, and I smiled at them. 

“Your food is delicious. I love it,” Ella looked at me with a smile on her face, but it seemed she realised she was being too nice because the smile disappeared in seconds. 

“Thank you,” 

“Why don’t you go show Ella around, kids? Don’t go near the swimming pool. It’s dangerous,” Xander suggested but didn’t fail to remind them about the pool. 

“Alright, uncle,” The kids left along with Ella, leaving us alone. 

“You should get some rest. I will clear the table,” He offered as he stood up and took one of the plates we used to eat. 

“I will do–” 

“Don’t worry about it. I’ll handle it,” He took the plate I had just picked up, and smiled at me. 

He had turned to go inside the kitchen to dump the plates he packed up, when something, crossed my mind and I called his attention. 

“Uhm… Can I ask of a favor from you, please?” I was nervous as I spoke up. As much as I know this didn’t make any sense, a part of me still wanted me to give it a try. 

“Sure. What is it?” 

“It’s about Chloe, my kids‘ nanny,” I fondled my fingers nervously. He had already accomodated me, and it would be selfish of me to want to bring her here, right? As much as it was bad, I wa still here, about to ask him. 

“Is everything alright?” He dropped the plates and turned his full attention to me with a worried expression on his face.

“I think she was sacked…” I paused and sighed before I continued. “Mr. Miller hired her for me, so he sacked her after what happened and now she has nowhere to live,” I held my gaze low. Talking about Mr. Miller, I haven’t told Xander about my relationship with the man even 

until now 

“That’s not a problem. Ella’s nanny left, so the kids would need a nanny. How about she move in with us here and help take care of the kids?! will hire her as the kids’s nanny if that’s fine by you,” I was still hesitating to talk when he spoke up, and I raised my gaze to look at him. 

“I was going to look for a nanny for Ella before. If it’s fine by you, then we can hire her instead. Is that ok with you?” 

“Yes… Yes! It’s ok with me. Yes!” I nodded excitedly as a smile formed on my lips, excited that I would be united with her once again…
