Chapter 18-beginning to get better

Jenny was slowly getting back to her own type of normalcy. She was coming out of our bedroom more every day, some times three to five times a day. We'd even go out to the bar to play pool over the weekend. Her job understood what was going on and gave her the vacation she needed away. She'd worked their from my understanding almost 5 years, and had accumulated a lot of vacation time and sick days.

I put Chain, my third in command, while I've been away. And when I got the call this morning that another MC had started coming into our territory with trying to sell some of the girls they had, I was pissed. So I went to talk to Scar.

"Hey brother, I'm gonna have to make a trip home, I got a call from Chain, my third, telling me that some MC is trying to sell some girls in my territory, and that's something I don't like to hear. I wanted to give you a heads up before I took off because I won't be here for tomorrow nights BBQ. I was going to tell Jenny but she'd left with Cassie to go hang out for a few hours. I might send her a text after we're done." I tell him

"Oh shit, you do whats needed. I'll take care of Jenny here. You need men to go along with you, I can spear a few." Scar says

"That would be great actually. Thank you. I'm gonna get things packed and head out around noon. Can you have the guys ready by then?" I ask

"Yes, I can tell them to be ready. Go do what you need to. I'll even have one of the ole' ladies make you some sandwiches for the trip." Scar says

I leave the office and go back to our bedroom, grab my bag and pack my cloths. I send Jenny a message letting her know that I've got to leave for a week or two but that I'd be back just in time for her birthday. She hates that I have to leave but completely understands. She tells me that she'll have Cassie bring her back to the club house so that she can be here before I leave. This is going to be a long week or two. But this shit needs to be done.

Jenny's pov-

"Hey Cassie, we gotta head back to the club house. Red has to go back to his MC because some shit is going down." I tell her quickly

"Ok. We can bring our food with us. Let's go sweetie." Cassie says

We pack up our food, grab our bags from the various stores we visited at the mall and set out to leave. As we walk to her car I think of how I've actually started feeling better about myself, not so many nightmares anymore of what had occured that one awful day with Alex. And things have been on the lucky side for me. Both Red and Scar have been so patient with me, Cassie knows the retail way of helping me, and even the guy at the club house who does tattoos has been helping with the tattoo therapy. I've added on to my collection of tattoo art by ten, making it now a total sixteen. Including the one he's going to cover up. The one I had done on my eighteenth birthday by a guy who did tattoos out of his house.

I nearly trip over a bag as we're getting closer to the main enterance of the mall. And I look down to see why I almost fell.

A beautiful woman, with blonde and brown highlighted hair, small black framed glasses, and semi-curvy in all the right spots is tying her shoes.

"Oh my gosh, are you ok? I'm so sorry. I seen my shoe was untied and I didn't want to trip over it so I had literally just bent down to tie it when you tripped over my bag." The woman rushes out still tying her shoe

"It's ok, I promise." I bend down to her level

The minute her eyes meet mine, a smile shows on our faces. God she is gorgeous.

We both stand at the same time. I reach for her bag to hand to her so Cassie and I could get going before Red takes off at noon.

"Thank you. And again I'm so sorry.." she pauses

"Jenny." I say giving her my hand

"Lexington, but everyone calls me Lexi. But again I'm sorry for tripping you." She finishes out

"Oh it's ok. I wasn't really paying attention. I was in my own thoughts about some things. But see you around Lexi." I drawl her name out sweetly

"She is cute. You need to get her number and tell her there's a BBQ happening tomorrow night, ask if she wants to come." Cassie says bumping my arm

I turn around and walk to her real quick.

"Hey, you busy tomorrow night?" I ask

"Not unless you consider watching a movie by myself busy." Lexi says

"I don't actually. But listen, my friends and I are having a BBQ tomorrow night, would you like to come?" I ask tentatively

"Oh sure, that sounds like fun. Um. What time and where at?" She ask

"How about this, hand me your phone, I'll give you my number, text myself so I have your number and I'll message you the time and address." I tell her

She gets her phone out of her pocket, opens it and hands it to me. I go to the messaging app, create new message, type in my number, and send myself a text with her name. My phone chimes to let me know I've got it and I hand her her phone back.

"I'll send you a message later sweetie." I say smiling

She smiles and blushes instantly by the pet name. I turn and walk towards Cassie and we leave the mall.

We get to the car and start our way back to the club house.

"So she was really cute. Are you going to be open with her?" Cassie questions

"Open as much as I possible can if things work in my favor." I tell her

"Good, you've been needing to get back on the horse. I know Red and Scar keep you busy, but a female will help with your other need." Cassie says grinning

"I'm slowly working on it. Its not going to happen over night. It all takes time. The doctor knows what's going on in my head,even put me on some depression pills. They're working. Slowly." I deadpan while looking at her

"I know sweetie, I just miss the happy, go getter, that you use to be." Cassie says with a frown

I frown not sure what to say after she admits that. The rest of the car ride to the club house is road out in silence.

We pull in to the parking lot and Red is sitting on his bike. I hop out of the car and walk over to him.

"Are you about to leave?" I ask

"Yeah, gotta head back and deal with this shit before it gets out of hand. I was hoping to stay till at least 2 o'clock but the quicker I get there the quicker I get back." Red says

"I know." I frown "We will still talk when you stop for rest, gas, and food." I tell him as I go to give him a hug

"We will. I expect you to answer your phone. Even if you're busy with Scar." He says then kisses my head

"Oh!" I lean up quickly

"I met a woman, her name is Lexi. I don't know where this is going but she is really sweet and I want to be friends with her before anything more happens." I tell him quickly

"Oh baby, thats a good thing. I'm proud of you for that." Red smiles

"I know I am to. But I know you have to go. I'll miss you." I tell him honestly then kiss him

"I love you." Red says

"I love you too." I tell him back

I watch Red leave with some other men, and then head back to the car to grab my stuff to go inside.
