Only then did Joshua notice her clothing. “Anyone can tell that her clothes are expensive based on their textures. However, she can’t possibly afford to live in such a luxurious room and wear such fancy clothes,” he thought. 

He furrowed his brows, his fists clenching so tight that the veins popped out. “Where are you now?” 

Melody was stunned for a moment, seemingly surprised at the reason for him suddenly questioning her. 

“That’s none of your business, ex–boyfriend.” 

Irritated upon hearing that, Joshua raged, “Just when I was wondering why you dumped me, it turns out that you’ve found yourself a rich guy. How is it serving an old man every day?” 

His tone was full of mockery. 

Amazed by his shamelessness, Melody exclaimed internally, “He was the one who cheated on me. How dare he accuse me of betraying him!” 

“Ha. You’re so good at twisting the truth. If I had known your true nature earlier back then, I wouldn’t have accepted you.” 

Melody’s gaze became icy cold. She averted her attention from the screen. 

Engulfed in rage, Joshua did not mind his manners, scoffed relentlessly, and said, “I must be the unluckiest man on Earth! My woman, who has been my girlfriend for three years after my one–year pursuit, has slept with an old man. Haha!” Deep down, he preconceived that Melody had an old sugar daddy. 

As he traced the disdain in Melody’s eyes, he continued his mockery, “Back then, why didn’t I notice that you’re such a cunning woman, Melody? It must have been hard for you to pretend in front of me the whole time!” 

Right when Melody was racking her brain to think of how to refute Joshua, Maverick took her into his arms from behind. “What are you doing, Darling?” 

Melody froze as she had not gotten used to them being so intimate. 

“Judging the way he addresses me, he must be doing it on purpose. When did he enter the room? Did he overhear our conversation?” she wondered. 

Irritated with Joshua’s betrayal, Melody wanted to make him feel miserable. Hence, she started cooperating with Maverick.

Shocked, Maverick flinched the moment he heard her call him “Darling” gently.

Joshua, who was on the other end of the call, had never seen Melody putting such a gentle and lovable look in front of him. 

An indescribable feeling struck him as he mused, “Why are they calling each other intimately as if they’re married? Melody and I have been broken up for three months or more. How could she marry someone else so soon?” 

He clenched his fist and punched the couch. 

As though she was trying to anger Joshua further, Melody adjusted her phone so that the camera could capture the sight of Maverick and her clearly. 

Meanwhile, Maverick, who obviously saw through her trick, changed his posture and revealed his handsome face that looked perfect at every angle. 

He was wearing a premium custom–made black suit. His chiseled facial features made him a hundredfold more handsome than Joshua. On top of that, Maverick’s elegance was way out of the latter’s league. 

Staring at Maverick’s marvelous look, Joshua felt his heart aching in frustration when he realized that Maverick was not an old man as he had imagined. 

With her eyes on Maverick, Melody did not bother to spare a glance at Joshua at all. 

“Melody Tuffin! You…” Joshua gritted his teeth in anger. 

Melody shifted her gaze to him and replied with no mercy, “Yes? Do you have anything else to say, ex–boyfriend?”
