Meanwhile, a man with a scar on his face was pressed against the floor of Avalon’s headquarters at the north of Avenport. His heart was overwhelmed with panic. 

He thought he had done everything flawlessly, yet he was caught so quickly. 

However, his opponents merely captured him and did nothing to him. They only made him kneel on the ground. 

Almost five hours had passed, and the panic in his heart became more intense as time passed by. 

At first, he did not want to take up the job when his client found him. 

After all, his target was Maverick. No one in their right mind, not even the gods, would dare to offend him. 

However, his client offered him a price so high that he could not refuse. Originally, he wanted to flee after completing the task. To his dismay, he was captured by Maverick’s men before he could even get out of Zarain. 

The problem was that he did not know who the client who searched for him was. They contacted each other using satellite phones. Even his pay was transferred from an anonymous account. 

“I can’t just sit here and wait for my end, he thought. 

“Someone! Let me go! Hurry up! You guys don’t have the right to kidnap me. If you don’t let me go now, you’ll…” 

Before he could even finish, a grunt could be heard. 

“Mmph… Be quiet!” Standing in the hall, lan Macias raised his leg and kicked Evan Sharp, causing the latter to sturnble to the ground. 

“What do you guys want with me?” 

“What do we want? You should’ve considered this before doing something to Mr. Rick.” 

“You guys don’t have the right to do so.” 

“Oh? Do you think you can still walk out of here unharmed?” 

Right then, Maverick stepped in. Seeing that, the subordinates dressed in black and standing in the hall greeted in unison. “Mr. Rick.” 

Their loud voices reverberated throughout the hall, giving Evan a fright. 

Despite that, Maverick ignored that. He strode to the red chair in the middle of the hall and sat down. 

“Mr. Rick, lan greeted Maverick respectfully. 

Then, he turned to Stanley, who was standing by the side, and greeted, “Stanny.” 

“Have you gotten anything from him?” 

“We haven’t started interrogating” 

Hearing that, Maverick waved his hand. Understanding his gesture, Ian grabbed Evan with one hand. “Tell me, who ordered you to do it?” 

Evan was already frightened to the core. “I–I don’t know.” 

When Evan said that, lan threw a punch in the former’s belly. 

A pained expression instantly appeared on Evan’s face, and he coughed up a mouthful of blood. 

“Not telling the truth, huh? Ian snarled through gritted teeth. 

He then pulled out a dagger from his boot and patted the blade against Evan’s face. 

The latter was on the verge of bursting into tears. “I–I really don’t know. I’ve never seen the person. Three days ago, someone told me the news about Maverick- Urgh!” Suddenly, a thump could be heard. 

“Who are you to address Mr. Rick’s name?” Ian threw another punch at Evan’s stomach. 

lan was originally a trained fighter. On top of that, he exerted about 80 percent of his strength in that punch, which was enough to cause Evan to collapse to the ground. 

At that moment, the most important thing for Evan was to save his own life. Dignity no longer mattered. 

He quickly got to his knees and groveled before the man, who was seated. He pleaded, “M–Mr. Rick, please let me go. I really have 

no idea. I was wrong. I shouldn’t have drugged you. I really don’t know who my clients were. They always used anonymous accounts to contact me. It’s true. You can even check on that.” 

Earlier, Maverick had been fiddling with the gun in his hand. The weapon’s body was wiped so clean that it gleamed under the light. On top of the gun was a totem of an azure dragon, an emblem that belonged to Maverick. 

Chapter 4 

Finally, he asked. “Where did you get the drug from?” 

“M–Mr. Rick, it was my client who informed me about it. They said someone was recently selling that drug on the black market. They also gave me extra money to purchase it” 

“lan.” Maverick’s indifferent voice rang out all of a sudden 

“Yes” 

As Maverick put his gun away, a vicious look appeared on his face while uttering a sentence that had the power to determine Evan’s life or death. “Deal with this man Throw his corpse into the black market as a warning for them” 

“Got it Upon receiving the instruction, lan instructed two men in black to drag Evan away. 

Evan struggled while pleading. “Please spare me. Mr. Rick! I’ve told you everything I know!”

He regretted his actions, but it was too late. 

When the hall finally quietened, Maverick spoke again. “Which one do you think attacked me this time? The ones from 

Mysonna or Smealand?” 

“I think those from Mysonna won’t attack so quickly. As for Smealand, Spectrum has been receiving news about them having internal conflicts. Thus, they shouldn’t have the time to think about doing such things, lan said after giving it some thought. 

“Hah‘ This is interesting. Could there be other forces that appeared and were not detected by Spectrum? Maverick mused. 

“Recently, a mysterious individual appeared on the list of global assassin organizations. Apparently, no one has seen them before Their code name is Z. Also, an S–grade pursuit order was placed on them. Could this person be related to this?” Stanley informed them about the news he had found during the past two days. A person who could enter the list of global assassin organizations was naturally someone extraordinary 

On top of that, an S–grade pursuit order was placed on the mysterious person. That was the first case ever since the establishment of the assassin’s organization. Even Stanley, the best assassin in the world, was intrigued. 

“Get to the bottom of this as quickly as possible.” 

“Noted,” Ian and Stanley answered unanimously. 

“What’s the latest update about Mills Corporation in Yartran?” 

“Your uncle’s men are trying to win over new forces. But all of that is still under our control.” 

“Good. Make sure to watch everything closely for now.” 

“Okay” 

With that, Maverick stood up and walked toward the door. When he passed by Stanley, the latter stopped him. “Mr. Rick. there was a call from the mansion. Mr. Cole has been waiting for you. You need a body checkup” 

“Make the preparations. We’re going back.” 

“All right” 

In less than half an hour, a silver Bentley drove into the courtyard of Cloud Mansion. 

The driver opened the door, and a man in a black trench coat stepped out with his long, slender legs. 

The butler of the mansion, Felix Zimuner, was already waiting outside. Seeing Maverick, he quickly stepped forward to welcome him. “Mr. Mills” 

“Where is he 

“He’s in the living room” 

As soon as Maverick stepped into the mansion, he saw Harrison sitting on the couch with his pretty eyes narrowed, teasing one of the mansion’s housekeepers 

When Harrison saw Maverick entering the living room, the former quickly wiped away his playful smule. “You’re finally back. Rack I thought you were still busy indulging yourself in your carnal desires.” 

Maverick’s stern voice rang out, “You’d better shut up if you don’t want to die” 

Seeing the frown on Maverick’s forehead, Felix quickly said to Harrison. “Mr. Cole, everything is ready. You may start examining Mr. Mills” 

Harrison rubbed his nose sulkily. “Rick’s men are always so loyal to him, he commented in his heart. 

This way, Mr. Mills Felix motioned for Maverick to head toward the room that was prepared Harrison, too, followed

Maverick lay on the bed, and Harrison went forward to examine the former’s body. 

As soon as he entered his “doctor mode,” he becanie unusually serious. 

“Rick, the drug in your body is gone. You’re fine, and you won’t have any aftereffects. It’s just that your vitality is slightly affected. You’ll be fine after getting a few days of rest. Then again, I’ve got to say; this drug is too strong! I can’t believe even you can’t endure it, Harrison commented. 

Maverick’s seductive lips parted. “It came from the black market.” 

Upon hearing that, Harrison felt anxious. “Do you know who did it?” 

Maverick got off the bed, and his deep voice sounded again. “We can’t find the culprit. Even Spectrum can’t get to the bottom of it. It looks like this person is very ruthless.” 

At that moment, Maverick’s eyes glinted with hostility. 

Whoever dared to go against him was basically asking for death, no matter how powerful they were.
