Chapter 9

On the other hand, Maverick’s subordinate had been searching high and low for Melody. However, to avoid his enemies. from tracking where Maverick was, he had previously ordered the footage from the surveillance cameras in Utopia Hotel to be wiped. Therefore, nobody knew anything about the woman the other night.

Initially, Maverick only wanted to give her some compensation. However, unexpectedly, he could not stop thinking about the feeling he felt the other night.

He recalled her toned and smooth skin and her mellow, soft moan. Although he was drugged at the time, he was still aware and conscious. The feeling that night was perfect.

Since then, he instructed Stanley to look for her. Unfortunately, there was no trace left behind. Even the check was still in the suite of Utopia Hotel.

During that period, Maverick had been in Yartran, settling Geoffrey’s matters. When he finally heard the news about Melody, three months had passed.

On the top floor of Summit Tower, located in Avenport, was the CEO’s office.

company he founded.

Maverick had just returned from Yartran a few days ago and was currently back working in the

Stanley walked at a fast pace from the outside. Although he was anxious, he did not forget to knock.

“Come in.”

A firm. deep voice of a man was heard from the inside. Stanley opened the door and walked into the office. He faced the sophisticated man behind the office desk as he said, “Mr. Rick, I’ve found the person. Look here. These are the information.”

Stanley passed a few papers to Maverick while speaking.

Maverick, who had his eyes fixed on the phone in his hands, lifted his head when he heard Stanley’s news and looked at the papers passed to him.

“Spectrum’s efficiency has deteriorated. It needed three months just to find an ordinary citizen,” Maverick said dissatisfiedly.

When Stanley heard his remark, sweat appeared on the former’s forehead. In Stanley’s heart, he was mumbling that what Maverick wanted him to do was getting more difficult.

Spectrum was Maverick’s intelligence–gathering platform. Any questions worldwide sent to Spectrum would be able to get a result within three working days. This time, it had taken a lot longer.

“That’s because Ms. Tuffin had started using the name of Queenie Sanders since that day. That’s why it was difficult to investigate.”

Maverick took the information and read them. His brows twisted into a deep frown.

There was a hint of coldness hidden within those sapphire–resembling eyes

He recognized her face, which was albeit plain but looked clean and refreshing. She looked pure and innocent without carrying any complexity.

She was the one who had stopped his car the first time. The second time around, she had barged into his room.

Maverick thought that the woman was indeed beautiful.

Although Maverick had seen countless beautiful women in his life, none of them had ever caught his eyes. Yet, his eyes lit up when he saw Melody.

She was not the kind that had an outstanding beauty, but she was very pleasant to the eyes.

The seductive fragrance coming from her body, and her slim and soft waist, had caused somebody with strong self–control like Maverick to collapse into temptation. He kept wanting more from her.

He admitted, that night, he had lost control.

“Where is she now?”

Stanley’s expression became tense when he thought about the news he had just received. He did not know where to start. After a while, Maverick still had not gotten an answer. His icy gaze fell at Stanley.

“Stanley, are you mute?”

The domineering gaze pressured Stanley to quickly share the shocking news he had received.

“S–She should be… at a private hospital in Baykeep.”

When Maverick heard the words “private hospital,” he was stunned. “Stanley, why are you stuttering now? If you don’t want the job anymore, then get lost!”

Stanley’s mouth twitched. “Who wouldn’t want this job? Mr. Rick offers the highest salary within the industry. Only an idiot. wouldn’t want the job, he thought.

“The person who investigated the news said Melody had booked an appointment a few days ago for an abortion surgery. She wants to abort the twins in her womb.”

“Damn it! She’s pregnant!” Maverick thought surprisingly.

His expression was dark and sullen. The atmosphere around him felt like it had dropped a few degrees. Even Stanley found it slightly unbearable.

“Prepare a helicopter.”

Right after giving his instruction, Maverick walked out with his steps feeling a little messy.

Stanley, who was at the back, was surprised. He thought to himself, “It’s so rare to see Mr. Rick losing his cool like that. Even when his parents were harmed, Mr. Rick had always remained unusually calm. It seems like Ms. Tuffin is someone special!*

“What are you thinking about?”

The pain from her chin jolted Melody back to her senses from her memories.

At that moment, she was still trapped with Maverick. She looked at the prenuptial agreement he had passed over to her.

Im thinking about how I can put a defiler like you in jail.”

“Jail? That’s funny. Which jail dares to take me in?” Maverick thought to himself after hearing what sounded like a joke.

“I still remember that you were the one who barged into my room, Ms. Tuffin.”

Feeling displeased, she frowned when she heard him calling her name.

“Ms. Tuffin? How did he know my name?” Melody thought as she looked at the man in front of her with caution.

“You investigated me!”

Maverick said coldly, “You’re the mother of my children. Of course, I must find out what kind of person you are. It doesn’t matter if you come from a modest background. I’m not bothered by these.”

Melody furrowed her brows as she thought Maverick was arrogant.

What she did not know was that once she found out Maverick’s identity, she would regret her thoughts at that moment.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about. Let me go. I want to go back now. What are you trying to do in broad daylight?”

“I want to register our marriage, of course.”

“I don’t want to.”

“It’s not up to you.”

Maverick did not give her any room to negotiate. He immediately reached out for her waist and lifted her up.  S~ᴇaʀᴄh the FindNʘᴠᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“Get lost! Let me go, you jerk!”

“Let’s go.”

The private helicopter was still parked in the parking lot in front of the hospital. Maverick carried Melody and went straight into the chopper.

The helicopter rose slowly and disappeared from the air in the blink of an eye.

Inside the helicopter, Maverick put Melody on a cushioned seat. He then proceeded to lean against the cushioned seat himself, closed his eyes, and did not say a word.

Melody was frowning at her current situation. She was in his hostage and had no idea where they were going.

She clenched her teeth and decided she could not just sit there and wait for something to happen.

“Where are you taking me?”

Hearing that, Maverick, who had his eyes closed, suddenly opened and revealed his blue eyes. His cold gaze landed on her and said, “I’m selling you off to the black market.”

Melody was rendered speechless.

She could not understand how he could suddenly become humorous in such a stern and serious moment.

Melody lifted her pretty face as she asked with a sweet voice, “What is your name?”

Maverick looked at her breathtaking beauty. His eyebrows moved a little, and he teased, “Why? Have you developed an interest in your future husband?”

Melody knew he was joking and pursed her lips together, saying nothing.

16.10 C

Maverick Mills.”

After a few seconds, a masculine voice was heard. There was a hint of dominance in his voice, which was deep and attractive. Melody looked at Maverick confusedly. His blue eyes were shining like gemstones.

‘Did he just tell me his name?” she wondered.

“Mr. Mills, is it? I think we need to talk.”

“After we’ve registered our marriage, we’ll have plenty of time to talk,” Maverick replied indifferently but at the same time carried an imposing tone that was not to be rejected.

Melody reluctantly stopped talking. Feeling frustrated, she turned her face to the side, not wanting to look at him or speak

to him.

“Fine. As long as I don’t agree, he can’t do anything else,” she thought.

Several of the subordinates broke into a cold sweat on the helicopter. She was probably the first person who ever dared to ignore Maverick.
