“Then, why are you running away from me every time?” Gideon asked seriously. 

Gideon meant not just now but also five years ago. It was not true that Margaret’s departure had no impact on him. He just knew how to control and hide his emotions better than ordinary people.

Standing at the company entrance, Margaret watched people running to the roadside with umbrellas or waiting for their boyfriends to pick them up. She stood there without anything, wondering when the rain would let up. Otherwise, she couldn’t even run to the roadside and hail

When Colin walked to the door, he saw Margaret’s helpless look and asked, “Margaret, you’re still here? No umbrella? Do you want me to give you a lift?” 

Margaret shook her head and said, “No, thanks. I’m waiting for someone to pick me up.” She was sure she couldn’t stay at the company for a long time, so she didn’t want to be too involved with her colleagues. Connections were easy to establish but difficult to break apart. 

Margaret hoped that she could say goodbye to everyone carefreely when she left instead of doing it reluctantly while hugging them with tears in her eyes. 

Colin was suspicious of Margaret’s words, but since she had said so and they were not very familiar with each other, he didn’t insist anymore and said, “The rain is too heavy. I’m afraid it will be difficult to walk on the road. Don’t worry. You can go upstairs and wait for a while.” 

“Okay,” said Margaret, smiling gratefully.

She sighed in her heart. Over the years, she had become used to staying on the battlefield and had almost forgotten that there was rain. 

“Are you kidding me?” Margaret raised her head and spoke in a childish pique. She closed her eyes and was ready to walk in the heavy rain. At worst, she would be ill and could lie at home for two days. 

However, as soon as Margaret raised one of her feet, a big hand grabbed her arm and stopped her.
