Chapter 47 

Kindergarten ended class early Caroline picked up her son at about 3:30 pm, and it was about 4:00 pm when the returned to the Ziegler residence 

Mayson followed his mother out of the car and nodded inwardly as he looked at the imposing buildings. 

He thought. Not bad, not bad Daddy’s family is still a wealthy family, so there’s no need for Mommy to give them money! 

When they walked to the main building of the Ziegler residence, they met a servant carrying a vase. When the servant saw Mayson, he was immediately frightened like a mouse who saw a cat.

The servant clung to the vase lest the child kick it into pieces. 

Leon already broke three vases last month‘ 

Mayson heard the servant calling him. Out of courtesy, he bowed down as a greeting. Then, he moved on with his mother 

The servant was petrified and thought. “What did I just see? Instead of kicking the vase, the little demon of the Ziegler family bowed to me Good heavens! The pigs can fly today” 

Caroline took Mayson into the main hall of the Ziegler residence, where Catherine was looking around, having heard that they were back. 

“Caroline, you’re back!” 

Catherine had a smile on her face, liking her granddaughter–in–law more and more every time she saw her Jennifer also came forward to greet them, saying, “You’re back. I’m relieved to hear that. We were all worried so much earlier 

Caroline said. “I’m sorry for worrying you.” 

Jennifer looked at her nephew again and reached out to touch his head. He did not shrink away Leo, you’re such a good boy today. You actually let your aunt touch your head!” 

Mayson tilted his head and looked at the woman in front of him, thinking. She called herself my aunt, so she’s Daddy’s 

sister?” 

Teo, come to Great–grandma!” 

Catherine beckoned to Mayson. He thought, I heard Mommy say that the oldest member of the Ziegler family is Daddy’s grandmother, who is my Great–grandma

Catherine finally managed to hug her great–grandson. She patted him and looked him over, and said joyfully. “Oh my, Leo has become a lot more docile since he went with Caroline. You have taught your child well. The Ziegler family thanks you.” 

“Don’t say that, Old Mrs. Ziegler This is what I should do.” 

Carmen, standing to the side, saw how well–behaved the child was and said. “Leo, come to Grandma!” 

Mayson heard Caroline say that the woman who called herself Grandma was not really his Grandma, so there was no point in him listening to her 

He did not listen to Carmen and did not go over, making Carmen embarrassed 

Leo, come here! I’ll take you to see your daddy” 

Caroline beckoned, and Mayson stepped out of Catherine’s arms, bending and bowing to the old lady as he left 

Catherine was gobsmacked and said, “Oh my, why is the child so polite today? He even bowed to me!” 

Jennifer finally snapped back to her senses “Yeah, my nephew is not possessed or something”

are you saying?” Catherine shot her a look and corrected. “What do you mean he took the wrong medicine? This shows that Caroline does a good job molding her child into a good and sensible one. Oh, there’s hope for the Ziegler family! 

Carmen secretly rolled her eyes and thought. “He’s just a little bastard. What else can he do? When the time comes, the Ziegler family’s inheritance will have to go to my grandson!” 

Caroline had just left with her son when Michael came in from behind with a hasty message: 

“Mrs. Ziegler! The Xydias residence has sent an invitation!”

Carmen remembered something and said, “Oh, right. I forgot to tell you, that Savannah’s family is celebrating her little nephew Zayden’s sixth birthday this evening. They invited the Ziegler family to have a great party. You should go, Mom.” “Zayden’s birthday? Why didn’t you say so earlier? We have to prepare birthday gifts.” 

Catherine and Alyssa were very good friends when they were young, and their families were long–time friends too. Thus, how could they refuse to go since the invitation was sent here? 

“There’s no need to prepare a birthday present. Just be there.” 

The Xydias residence was holding a birthday party. It would already be a great honor for them if the Ziegler family went. 

“We should still prepare something” 

Catherine told Jennifer. “Jennifer, hurry up and prepare the birthday presents. Remember to buy a few. We’ll all go later with Caroline, Leo, Bryan, and Kent to have fun together.” 

“I know, Grandma. Leave it to me. I’ll go shopping now.” 

Jennifer made a joyous exit. 

Carmen did not really want Caroline to go, but since Catherine had spoken, it was improper for her to say anything. However, if the three grandsons of the Ziegler family went, they would serve as a foil to the Xydias residence’s Zayden. Everyone knew that Zayden of the Xydias residence in Jipsdale was a child prodigy! 

Caroline led her son, Mayson. Jennifer quickly caught up with her and called out, “Caroline! Wait up!” 

“What’s wrong?” Caroline asked. 

“In the evening, we are going to the Xydias residence for a birthday party. Grandma said that you could take Leo to join us for fun. I’ll go and prepare the presents now. We’ll meet in the hall at six o’clock, okay?” 

Caroline thought, “The Xydias residence? In that case, I’ll get to see Jayden. It’ll be a good time to ask him about his detective work.” 

She nodded and said, “Okay. Leo and I are going to go back and get dressed. I’ll see you later.” 

Caroline took her son to the Tanglevine Residence when she got a phone call from Yohan, who reminded her, “Boss, that little missy is still in our elevator at Lucent Venture Capital 

Caroline would have forgotten if not for the reminder, “Let her out!” 

She thought, “I believed that after a day of incarceration, she should have a taste of despair.” 

Yvonne had indeed learned her lesson, having been stuck in a glass elevator on the 25th floor. It was sweltering and. stinking at first, so hot that she felt sick even when she undressed. Then, she was cold and hungry in the afternoon. She was almost frozen stiff by the air conditioner. 

She was so desperate that when the lift finally resumed operation and she stepped out of the lift, she felt like a walking dead body. 

She swayed out to find the people of the whole building had gone off work. 

Yvonne could not help but wonder why she had such a bad day.

Caroline took her son upstairs and, in the main bedroom, saw Quintin. 

Flynn spoke up. “Ms. Lewis is back.” 

Mayson looked curiously up at the bed and thought, “Is that my daddy? He’s the man who has been through an unfortunate accident that nearly turned him into a living dead. 

Caroline walked over, took a look at the man, and asked, “I heard you didn’t even have lunch?” 

To be precise, he did not want to eat other people’s cooking. He wanted to eat her own cooking and waited until she came 

back, but in the end, she had a date with another man in a restaurant, while he got full of his own anger. 

With a dark expression, Quintin said unpleasantly, “I’m starving. Isn’t that what you wanted?” 

His words just killed all the vibe. 

Caroline stopped talking and just stared at him for a few seconds. 

Chapter 47 

She thought, “I can feel his anger. Is he angry because of hunger? Or is he deliberately doing this because of my bad attitude last night?” 

Mayson’s handsome little face sank, and his brow frowned. 

He thought. “Our invincible and adorable and beautiful Mommy is our goddess. Why does Daddy treat her so badly?”
