Caroline brought her son to change his clothes and left Tanglevine Residence together.
When no one was around, Mayson said, “Carol, don’t be upset. Daddy is bad, but Mr. Yates is great! Why don’t we let him be our stepfather?”
A devilish face flashed across Caroline’s mind. Then she shook her head and said, “Don’t worry about Mommy. You guys are enough for Mommy. I don’t need a man!”
Love or affection was superfluous to Caroline.
She hadn’t believed in love for a long time, let alone men.
The mother and son arrived at the main hall of the Ziegler residence. Coincidentally, Jennifer had also returned. There were many carefully selected gifts in the trunk of her car.

Caroline cracked her knuckles as she said so. Savannah was so frightened that she looked awful.
