Chapter 36

Lucius woke up early the next morning in his childhood bedroom at his father's house. He turned to look at Chloe, who was still in deep slumber yet. Often, he used the time that he actually had to himself reflect on yesterday. Knowing the next couple of hours, it will be long for both him and Chloe. Chloe does not know how the extent of supernatural politics works, and she will be getting her first dose of it. This actually scared him. He was so lost in thoughts that there was movement beside him. Chloe had just woken up.

"Good morning," Lucius said.

"Morning," Chloe replied before heading towards the bathroom. She gathered her clothes to take a shower.

Lucius saw this and asked,"Are you going to take a shower? Can you save some hot water for me?"

Chloe rushed into take a shower and came out then tapped him on shoulder. Lucius rushed into the bathroom and took a luke warm shower.

"What should I expect at the council meeting?" Chloe asked while brushing brozer to her face.

"You will be addressed to the other council members. They will mostly question you about the events of the day you were kidnapped by Joe or Jacob. I never had to address the council either. I just have to figure out the rest." Lucius comments to Chloe.

Lucius was going to explain some more, and the door opened to see Miles standing in the doorway. Miles nodded to them in greeting. He later said, "We need to be leaving shortly."

Miles left the room soon after telling them. Lucius grabbed Chloe's hand and led them both from the room. Soon, they left the house

When they got to the office building, they played a secret role in the supernatural society and were disguised as a normal office building by day. At night, the basement played a different role for the underground. The trio went to the elevator and then clicked on the basement button. Lucius watched Chloe's reaction and noticed she was quiet the entire ride from the house to the government building. He thought it must be the nerves. Also, he looked at some familiar faces from months ago.

"Where do I go?" Chloe whispered and looked around.

"You sit on the right side, like human court rooms," Lucius informed her, "I will be sitting behind you."

Then Lucius took a seat behind like he said. Chloe sat at the desk with some others by her side. He watched the elders come in the room one by one. Noticing, his father was not among the elders, and his thoughts were not normal. There was a lot of whispering among the crowd behind him. He saw Thomas and Margo coming through the crowd of werewolves. Ava was not with them.

Both sat next to Lucius and padded Chloe on the shoulder. Chloe grabbed Margo’s hand and squeezed it. She mouthed thank you for coming. There was so much talking, not hearing the elders waiting for the crowd to quiet down.

"May I have everyone's attention," Darius said into a microphone.

The crowd goes silent, and Lucius looks forward to see his father on the other side next to Darius. He looked to his left across to his mother and former friend, Jacob, walking in. Not he sure why his mother was being charged her involvement. He felt embarrassed and looked away from them.

"We are here to hear to the court Chloe Swartz vs. Isdorah Wentz and Jacob Jones. The mastermind is said to be deceased. Will all of you rise?" Another Elder told the assembly.

"May we have Mrs. Swartz, take the podium?" Darius instructed, we are going to ask you about the events leading up to you being kidnapped."

Chloe only nodded before they proceeded.

"What were you doing in the days leading up to the events?" Darius asked.

"I was out shopping at flea market the day before with Lucius. We were shopping for furniture for the nursery. I felt like someone was watching me." Chloe told the assembly.

"Is the person who was following you and Lucius?" Darius asked.

"He is," Chloe pointed to Jacob.

"So, Jacob was following you at the flea market. What happened when you got back? Did he follow you home?" Darius questioned.

"Yes, he did follow me, hom. I looked out the window from the apartment and saw Jacob standing, watching me from the across the street from my apartment." Chloe mentions.

"To clarify, he was mostly scoping out the apartment by instruction by Joe. How do you know Joe?" Darius aaked.

"That is right. He was mostly scoping my apartment by orders of Joe. Joe happened to be an ex-boyfriend of mine of three years. We had broken up when he was still human. He started stalking me soon after and just had not stopped." Chloe said, kind of going down memory lane.

"So, what happened on the day you were kidnapped? What were you doing?" Darius asked.

"I went about cleaning the apartment that day. I also was working on a book that I was writing at the time. Lucius was out at a bunch of meetings that day. I called my friend, Margo Klein. Then there was a knock at the door, and I did not answer. I hid in the back bedroom and hid in the closet. The door got bashed down. I heard him going coming down the hall. He knocked me out soon after. I woke up at Joe's cabin. I had thought he was dead," Chloe told the assembly.

"Do you remember what happened when you were at Joe's cabin?" Darius questioned.

"Joe bite a bunch of times. Then he introduced a witch who happened to be Lucius’s mother, who casted a cloaking spell over the cabin. My location was hidden from my friends and loved ones for two months and a half. Somehow, my location was found I was rescued," Chloe told assembly.

"I remember that Joe was killed by Ian Marshall in the woods outside the cabin," Darius confirmed that information to the assembly.

Lucius was lost in thought throughout the entire time. He did not think of what happened to Chloe anymore. The assembly only lasted two hours, and the day ended. Miles came back out to where Chloe and Lucius were in the hall in the basement. They went home and returned for the next two days.
