Lycan's Affection
Alexander's Fate and the Wrath of the Fiery Queen

Conaan's eyes fluttered open and he gave a a small sigh, his hand coming to gently massage his head. Most of the pains were gone and apart from the ravishing, almost bloodthirsty hunger he felt, he felt almost back to his normal self.

"Brandon?"

He propped himself up as he waited for an answer, but very unlike his trusty friend, no answer came. His brows furrowed as he looked around.

Eleanor had been here, but she wasn't anymore. The tray of untouched food was there, but not his Queen. Without bothering to grab a robe for his upper body, he walked out of the room towards the door, then opened it up.

A servant was standing outside, and once she looked up, she immediately cowered, lowering her gaze.

"Where is Brandon?"

"Your Highness, he and Her Highness Queen Eleanor have gone out to some place."

Conaan's brows furrowed. "He and Eleanor?"

"Yes, Your Highness. And they were heavily armed too."

Conaan let the information sink in, his eyes darting around as he tried to make sense of what was going on. Heavily armed? He was not aware of any threats, and why would Brandon let Eleanor...

With a heavy sigh, he walked back, flexing his fingers.

Eleanor slowly descended from her ride, her lips curled up in a small smile. Even if she was asleep, she knew just how to scent a werewolf out. Or a lycan.

Afterall, she had spent a few years running from the latter and looking for the former.

"Beautiful sunset, is it not?" She started to walk to them, and Dan turned to the back, his eyes looking to Alexander's fingers for any sign.

Sure enough, Alexander had a command to give.

"Attack if threatened, and spread towards the territory."

Dan nodded. If there was an attack, there definitely will be confusion. They may be outnumbered, but still, they could do something and somehow make their way in, amd disguise with other lycans.

He tightened his grip around the sword, and the others immediately got the message, each holding on to their sword in preparation.

"So you are trained assassins brought by His Highness?"

Dan nodded. "Yes."

"Very typical of His Highness. He likes to shed the blood, does he not?"

Dan swallowed. "We like to shed it too."

Eleanor's eyes drifted towards his hand, and the rest of them, and she turned to their soldiers with a small smile.

"I do not think there has been a proper introduction."

"What..do you mean, Your Highness?" The head guard asked, moving forward.

"Well, the assassins have their hands ready on their swords. I hardly believe that they trust us."

Dan immediately let go, and the others followed too.

"It is a popular teaching of His Highness to not trust anyone."

Eleanor laughed, her eyes falling on a particular hooded man to the back. He seemed a little too hidden even with his height, and almost too guarded. His section seemed like a cut out from the formation, like he had people to keep him safe if anything happens. With slow steps, she started to walk towards him, taking care to observe the rest.

Similar tattoos just beneath their earlobes, and she knew they were from Polaris. But there was something about that particular one...

She walked slowly to him, her grip tight on the case that held her arrows.

"You sure do know His Highness. Do not trust anyone, even the people closest to you."

No one replied, as she finally got to the man, her eyes scanning him. With a small step, she moved closer, her eyes squinted. Alexander held his breath, his chest heaving. He was not sure if Eleanor would be able to sniff him out, but knowing how aggressive Eleanor was, he knew better than to be too sure.

She moved slowly, her hand tightening on a single arrow, her mind, eyes, nose at work.

She suddenly drew back and smiled, and Alexander released a breath, thankful. She didn't seem to have found anything out.

"You wear these hoods because you are assassins?"

"Yes," Dan replied. "It helps us carry out our work efficiently."

Eleanor nodded again and slowly pulled out the arrow. The action was subtle, subtle enough for Alexander to miss it. Subtle enough that out of all, only Brandon, who had kept his eyes focused on her had seen it.

With just as subtle a click of his fingers, the soldiers took positions again, completely barring the high city gates.

"But here in the lycan city, there is something we call men who arrive with their faces covered like this."

She finally held the arrow tight, her eyes fixed on Alexander's chest.

"Enlighten us, Your Highness."

"We call them...." she trailed off, her eyes momentarily catching Brandon's. He gave a nod, and turned to the headguard. "We call them underhanded cowards."

Before anyone of the assassins could make complete sense of what she had just said, she lifted the aarrow, plunging it straight into Alexander's chest.

He gave a guttural yell, not quite expecting the hit, and he lost balance. The arrow had plunged right above where his heart would be, and once he was down, Eleanor got on top, yanking his hood away.

With the alpha down, the ones supposed to guard him immediately started to turn to the soldiers, leaving him to his fate and the mercy of a fiery queen.

The assassins started to attack, with most running to avoid the collision altogether.

Brandon ran after a few who had made their way in, cutting them down, as Dan thrust his blade into the fourth soldier.

"Get the alpha!" Dan yelled, taking on more soldiers as he went, the rest of the assassins getting rounded up and disarmed or injured, while the rest fought to keep their place.

"What the hell do you think you are doing?" Alexander was stained in his own blood, his eyes wide with pain, the arrow keeping him grounded to the floor.

Without a word, Eleanor grabbed the arrow and pulled it out hard, earning another scream from him. Without waiting, she plunged it back in hard, then again and again, till blood splashed on her face, till she could almost not see beyond it.

She was blind with rage, and a betrayal she should have settled, and now that she got the chance..

Alexander finally got an edge as he pulled up his leg, kicking her in the stomach. She fell away from him, and it gave him enough chance to be pulled up by two others, as they immediately started to rush him away.

"Eleanor!" Brandon yelled as she attempted to follow, then ran through the ruckus towards her. Just before he got there, she pulled out an arrow, then successfully hit one of the assassins carrying Alexander.

Dan turned, realizing they had lost, but he could still have Eleanor. She was distracted, Brandon was too busy taking care of the few around them and trying to keep her safe, the rest were rounded up, most have run away, alpha Alexander was heavily injured.

Baiting on his sword, he immediately aimed at her, aiming right at her chest, while she aimed at Alexander, her eyes squinting.

With a small smile on his face, he threw the sword, and it swished past, flying through the air right towards the lycan queen.
