In a dystopian society, sixteen-year-old Abhaya Hughes is different from her family. She lives with her stepmother who is in charge of the city St. Louis, Missouri and wants to eliminate people like Abhaya to have a perfect society. Abhaya’s mother left her when she was younger and doesn’t know why she left and why her dad married the woman who is known for running their home city. Abhaya is offered to join a society called TID to help her learn how to use and control her powers along with finding her mom. While Abhaya is away learning about her powers, making friends, enemies, and possibly falling in love, she is secretly being tracked by the Government. Abhaya wants to find her mom but it’ll come at a price, costing her life and relationships. Will she find her? What is her mother hiding from her? What secrets lurk in TID?
