Chapter 6 A Friend in Need

Freya’s POV

“Here, I think these will all fit you perfectly,” Sienna grinned as she placed the pile of clothes in my arms “Outfits for all occasions there, some lounging about clothes, casual day clothes and a s*xy number,” wiggling her eyebrows comically I couldn’t help but laugh.

“Thanks, Sie,” I smiled, placing the clothes in a pile on the bed as I took a seat on the edge “I’ll need underwear though,” I said as the realisation dawned on me “I’m not sharing that with you,”

Sienna twisted her face “Ew,” she blinked “We can go shopping and buy some, don’t worry about that,” falling back into a beanbag, Sienna stretched her legs out and looked at me “So tell me exactly what happened with Nathan, I need all the deets,”

I sighed “There’s not much to say aside from that he’s a toxic moron,” I paused as I tried to decide which awful memory to retell first “Our marriage was arranged, he didn’t really love me,”

“Wow,” Sienna said with shock “I really thought you guys were in love, who arranged it?”

“His parents,” I said “They had been close to my parents before they died and promised me to Nathan. I guess they wanted me to live a comfortable, poverty free life,”

Sienna nodded “I get that, wanting the best for your kids. And you never had one ounce of love for Nathan?”

“No,” I said “At first I liked him, I’ve known him for a long time, since we were young,” I said “But as we grew older, he became distant from me and cruel. He would bully me and say cold things. Until we were told we were to marry, he tried to change, but it didn’t work,”

“Did he hurt you? Physically?” Sienna asked with concern in her voice.

“No,” I shook my head “He never laid a hurtful hand on me. He was all mind games, he would f**k other women in our bed, knowing I was in the house. He wanted me to hear what he was getting up to. I was expected to not ask about it,” Reliving the memories made my skin crawl “And then on the morning we were due to marry, I saw the video of Nathan with another woman, and I guess that sealed my decision for me. I was expected to accept his behaviour, but I deserve better,”

Sienna nodded “Hell yeah you do! I’m sorry you went through that. I want to rip that dickhead a new asshole!” she said through gritted teeth. Her protective ways meant a lot to me, I always knew Sienna had my back.

Sienna’s Dad entered my mind, and I relived that moment in the hall where we connected. Nathan was the least of my worries right now.

“Tell me about your Dad,” I said to Sienna “He seems to have handled everything well, he looks good,”

Sienna nodded “He’s strong, the strongest person I know,” she paused “Although I have seen him crying when he thinks no one is looking, and I think it’s over Mom,”

“Understandable,” I said, my heart aching for Rufus “I can’t imagine how hard that must be, losing someone you love and cherish so much,”

“He did good raising me and Milo though,” Sienna smiled at me “He’s such a great Dad, always put us first over anything, even the Pack,”

I felt my heart begin to flutter in my chest, Rufus sounded like the most caring, sweet guy and put his loved ones’ needs before his own, he was the complete opposite of Nathan.

“Do you think he will love again?” I asked, making sure I wasn’t treading too far over the line, I watched Sienna’s face for a reaction, but her expression barely changed.

“Maybe,” she replied “I don’t think he sees that as a priority though. Dad always put everyone else’s needs before his own. It would be great if he did find someone one day though, he deserves to be loved by someone special again,”

I nodded “Everyone deserves love,”

Silence fell between us and I could see the hurt in Sienna’s eyes, I had to change the subject quickly!

“So Milo is due home soon?” I asked with a smile.

“Yeah!” Sienna perked up “I’m so excited to see him,” she paused “But I have to warn you, he’s a bit of a Casanova and will probably try to flirt with you,”

I laughed nervously “It’s been a while since a guy flirted with me, I might enjoy it,” I winked mischievously.

“Ew gross!” Sienna laughed “Not with my brother, he’s a dork,”

“That bad huh?” I asked as I stood to my feet, trying to reach around the back of my dress to unfasten it.

Sienna got up from the beanbag and grabbed my shoulders, she turned me around. Her fingers began to gently ease the ribbon of the corset back of my dress as she loosened it “He has a different girlfriend every time I see him, I can’t keep up! He brings them home too,”

“Have you ever called them by the wrong name?” I laughed, enjoying the sensation of the dress becoming looser on me by the second.

“You joke, but I actually have on more than one occasion,” Sienna replied with laughter “There, you should be able to get out of that,”

Sl*pping the dress down my b*dy, I stepped out of it and screwed it up on the floor “We can destroy that tomorrow,” I said before grabbing a loose T shirt from the pile Sienna had given me, I pulled it over my head “That feels so much better,”

“You’re not a beautiful bride any longer,” Sienna said with fake shock to her voice “But still beautiful,”

I smiled at Sienna, but a yawn crept up on me “Gosh it’s been a long day,”

Taking the pile of clothes, I followed Sienna out of her room and she opened the door directly across the hallway “Dad’s bedroom is to the left, bathroom to the right,” she said pointing in each direction “You get some good sleep tonight, we have a big day of shopping tomorrow!”
