Chapter 26 So Close Yet So Far

I ran in different directions.

Turning left and right following my instincts.

I followed the scent of the fresh outside air.

I hid whenever there were hunters around and sprinted mutely when they turn to the other way.

Three times, I ended up in a dead end. I unhurriedly walked not wanting to be caught by any hunters.

Once i caught the smell of woods and trees, I wasted no time in following it. I saw a huge door on the front.

Could this be it ?

I prayed to the moon goddess that this would be the door to my freedom, hoping that it wasn’t locked.

I turned the door knob slowly, and it opened revealing the woods.

I burst out in happiness before I dashed again outside. Unconcerned that I was running on my bare feet.

I was cautious and heedful of the things that I was stepping onto, not wanting to get pricked by anything especially in this moment.

I caught some sightings of hunters walking by and hid behind one of the huge tree. I peeked over hoping they wouldn’t see me and walk away.

They walked straight ahead not turning their head in any direction, talking to one another and I let out a huge sigh of relief before I was back on my way to escape.

Should I shift ?

It would be faster for me to run out of here if I was in my wolf form. At the same time, it could be dangerous and menacing especially while I’m still in the hunters land.

It would be easier for them to spot me.

I saw the road at the end of the woods attached to the other part of the woods where I’ll no more be in danger or peril.

I started to sprint, adrenaline pumping in my veins.

I couldn’t seem to stop myself as I glanced back.

I somehow felt guilty and bad for racing away from Lucifer.

But if I do be with him, I’ll die.

He’ll hurt me. I can no longer take the pain, it’s unbearable.

He’ll find another girl who he’ll like and who he will fall in love with.

He’ll be happy.

I’m not for him and his not for me.

I was so into my own thoughts that two worse things happened;

Something pierced my back and I got electrocuted making me tumble down onto the muddy ground seeing a blonde haired hunter with an electrifying gun.

“Going somewhere ?” He asked and I saw two more behind him.

I stopped juddering when he discontinue to press onto the gun. I placed my hand behind my back wanting to clutch the thing piercing my back and throw it away before he is able to electrocuted me again.

“Ah, ah ah” he said nearing me.

I moved back trying to get away from him.

“Stop moving.” He warned.

He squat down to my eye level.

“No werewolf would be dumb enough to come here. What’s your purpose ?” He asked.

I didn’t answer him as I kept looking back towards the road.

I was so close.

“Answer me!” He bellowed raising his hand to hit me making me flinch away.

“Kyle don’t. Lucifer would be outraged. Let’s bring her back to his room.” One of the hunters suggested.

“I’m bringing her to Lucifer’s father.” Kyle stated and my eyes went wide.

He’s bringing me back to that monster who shot me ?

“No.” I whimpered.

“Did I ask you to speak ?” He asked raising his hand to hit me once more. I closed my eyes and used my hands as a wall to miss his hit.

Before he could do anything to me, the second despicable thing occurred.
