Nate's POV

We spent the whole flight preparing for our final battle. This one was close to my heart. My family’s lives were in my hands and I couldn’t let them down.

I haven’t seen Sasha and Antony in over a hundred years and I missed them like crazy. I just knew they would love Melissa, Ethan and Becky like I did. We could all be one big happy family, and if I knew Sasha like I thought I did, she would be ecstatic to be an aunt. She loved babies.

I just realized, she may have a family of her own! She may have children and a husband. Same with Antony! I think my head just exploded! I haven’t seen them for so long and I had no idea what happened since I left to take care of Jack all those years ago.

It didn’t matter! Once we were all together again, we could spend as much time as we needed catching up on our lives. They would be coming with us to live in our home.

That thought brought a smile to my face. For so long I had been lonely, and now my family will be all together and happy. Nothing was as important to me as this thought. And it was my biggest motivation! We would all be together. My sister, my brother, my mate and child and my brother in law and his mate.

This was the ultimate ending and the only thing standing in my way was some evil child of Jack, who thought he could take our happiness away. But I wouldn’t let that happen!

Another thought accrued to me. Who else does he have trapped in this dome? And is it his dome or was this one of Jack’s that he never told the others about. It didn’t seem like Jen knew about Sean’s dome. She’d mentioned all the others, but not this one.

Or did she know and just didn’t want me to find out because she hated me so much? I couldn’t be sure. She was always manipulative and power hungry. She could have known and just not told me because she knew if I never found my family that would cause me the most pain, and that was her goal to get back at me in the end.

I guess I’ll never know the answer since I killed her. And I’m not even sorry I did. After everything she did, she didn’t deserve to be free. Some of the others did deserve a life of freedom from Jack's tyranny, but not her. She was in full, and way over her head.

But it sounded like his son was deserving of the same fate of the father. Not only that, but I’ve never met the guy and he just decided to kidnap my family for some slight to his father, who was the whole reason the magic on earth was dying in the first place!

This guy didn’t know what he was doing! If he loved his father that is one thing, but he would also know that he had been in a dome for all those years and that it was his own fault!

The adjustment to the jet's trajectory and speed brought me out of my thoughts.

Finally! We have arrived.

I looked over at Ethan. “You ready for this?” I asked.

“Let’s go kick some trash!” Ethan smirked at me.

I chuckled. I loved this kid! I am more than happy to call him brother. In fact, I bet he’d get on great with Antony! I’ve been teaching Ethan how to fight, and that was what Antony had been doing when I left. I bet they’d love to spar with each other. We could all work together to make our kingdom great and prosperous. It made my heart happy.

Twenty minutes later, we’d landed and were in a new 4 wheel drive Jeep Compass. It sounded appropriate!

Fairbanks was freaking freezing right now, and the wind wasn’t helping matters. I hadn’t realized it would be snowing this time of year yet. Then again, it may not be Alaska’s fault. For all I knew this could be some illusion from Sean.

I honestly had no idea what he was capable of. His father was a demon, but I was not sure what he was.

I pulled out my compass and followed it through the winding roads to a dome made of ice and snow.

I took a deep breath and looked over at Ethan one more time.

“Let’s do this!” I commanded.

He nodded his head in compliance and we opened our doors at the same time. Bringing our swords forth we stood before the dome as the wind whipped and howled. Ice cold sleet slashing against our skin. The chill went bone deep, but we were not leaving until we defeated one last psychopath.

A funnel of snow and ice appeared before us and disappeared, and before us was a young man in dark robes and silver constellations embroidered across it.

Huh… So he was a warlock. In that case, he could have made the dome himself. And he could have gotten all his information on my family easily.

“WHY?” I shouted above the wind and snow.

It was the only question I had for him. It was the only one that mattered.

“Why?” He sneered. “Because my whole life was spent separated from my father. It was all your fault! He wouldn’t have been trapped if it wasn’t for you!” He spat out.

Now I was really confused. Didn’t he know that wasn’t my fault?

“I don’t know what you’ve been told, but the reason he was in the bloody bubble in the first place was because he was trying to steal all the magic! He created them! Not me! I was trying to save magic. You are taking your grief out on the wrong man!” I insisted.

“Like I’d ever believe you! You’re evil just like the King and Queen were!” He spat out.

“He’s telling the truth!” Insisted Ethan. “Your father was a psycho who was stealing lives from children! How do you explain that?”

“NO! YOU’RE LYING!” He shouted, blasting us with ice shards.

Ethan brought his flaming sword down fast, creating a shield of fire. I’d never seen that and was momentarily distracted by the genius, when Sean screamed again.

A funnel of snow headed right for us.

I lifted my sword and pulsed my energy through it directing it at the snowy tornado. Lighting lit up the funnel and it changed directions.

Sleet and ice pelted us as the wind picked up.

Ethan sent a blast of heat pushing back the wind as we stepped together, charing towards Sean.

He disappeared and reappeared behind us.

He blasted us with ice spears.

I got hit in the side and Ethan got hit in his shoulder. We were both bleeding, but the adrenaline running through our bodies kept the pain at bay.

Like a dance, both Ethan and I swung our swords and battled with the warlock. Hit after hit, blast after blast. Our magic was wearing thin as our blood painted the snow white. I was heaving and my limbs were going numb. I didn’t know how long we were going to last at this rate.

The only good thing about this was that Sean was also wearing down. He sent one more blast of power right for me, but I blocked it. At the same time Ethan saw an opening and slashed his flaming sword through Sean’s very confused heart.

He looked up at me and I watched as the light slowly left his eyes.

“Why?” He choked out.

And then he was silent.

This time there was no key needed. The dome of ice and snow just blew away like fairy dust.

The Wendigos roared into the sky, along with the ice dragons and snow fairies. Also emerging were the witches and warlocks.

And in the center were Sasha and Antony.

They both looked right at me with huge smiles. Then they ran, and I ran too. I gathered them in a hug that was long overdue! It felt so good to have my siblings in my arms again. I could protect them just like I was supposed to.

Ethan casually strolled over to us with a huge grin on his face.

I pulled back. “Sasha and Anothy, this is Prince Ethan. My mate’s brother. Ethan, may I present my brother and sister Antony and Sasha?” I introduced.

Ethan shook their hands. “It’s a pleasure to meet you! I’ve been looking forward to finally meeting Nate’s family. I know Lissa is gonna love you guys!”

“Lissa?” Sasha gave me a sly look.

“Melissa. My mate, she is the Queen of the fairies,” I blushed.

“OOOH! I’m so excited!!! Not only do I get a new sister in law, but I also have royalty as my family!” She squealed.

“Not only that!” Ethan said. “Lissa is expecting soon!” He announced proudly.

Antony and Sasha’s jaws dropped.

‘What are we doing here? We need to get you back to your mate! What were you thinking!” Yelled Antony.

I just laughed.

“He was thinking he wanted his sibling to be part of our big happy family! And I can’t agree more! Let’s go home!” Ethan cheered enthusiastically.

So we all piled in the Compass and hit the road.

On the way back to the jet, he called Mel and gave her the good news. From the very loud squeal I heard, it sounded like she was happy.

We were finally going home!
