Chapter 23 Settling In

I chuckled as I watched Nate whisk Lissa away.

“Well, we probably won’t be seeing them until tomorrow afternoon at the earliest,” I snickered.

Tony and Sasha laughed, but their laughter was full of happiness and joy at watching their older brother happy.

“Let’s go in guys! I’ll introduce you to the crew!” I said.

Since the door was still wide open, we just marched right in.

Becky was right there at the door to greet me.

“Hey cupcake! I missed you,” I said as I pulled her into my arms and kissed the top of her head. She melted into me and I’ve never felt so at peace.

But after a moment, she pulled away and looked behind me curiously.

“Sorry, where are my manners,” I cleared my throat. “Becks, this is Sasha and Antony, Nate’s younger siblings. They are gonna be part of our family now. Guys, this is Becky, my future wife,” I smiled with pride.

Becky gasped and slapped me playfully on my chest and pulled away to go hug Sasha and then Antony.

Watching Becks put her arms around another man caused a dark feeling to creep in my heart. I don’t know why I was jealous, but I didn’t like it.

I growled at Antony, who quickly stepped out of my girl's arms with his hands up in surrender.

“You know you're cute when you're jealous, my prince,” she teased me. Then she pulled me down to kiss me on my lips.

Huh… I just realized I really liked it when she called me her prince! That might be because I am hers and she is mine! I guess I can forgive Tony for touching my girl if I get kissed like this afterwards.

After she pulls away, her face is flaming red and I realize it’s the first time she has kissed me! And, man, did that make me happy!

I entwined our fingers and pulled her along.

“C’mon guys! We have more people to meet!” I said.

We stopped in the kitchen and found Sam cooking a pot roast and my stomach growled. Now I know how Lissa felt! If I wasn’t already in love with Becky I’d be down on one knee right now!

Dang, I’m starving.

Candi was up at the counter snacking on an apple as we entered.

They both turned to us with a cheery smile.

“Welcome back, Ethan,” Candi said.

“Dinner is just about ready!” Sam mentioned.

“Ladies, this is Sasha and Tony, Nate’s younger brother and sister. Guys, The cook is Sam, and I would kiss her if I didn’t have Becky,” I joked.

“I could kiss her for you,” Tony offered.

Sam blushed. Her dark brown skin glowed with happiness. There was a definite twinkle in her dark brown eyes. From what I remember, she was a college grad and hadn’t said anything about being in any relationships, so maybe…

“And Candi is our… I don’t want to call her a maid. It sounds so degrading…” I grouched.

“She is our helper and party planner, and a totally awesome friend!” Becky put in!

I kissed her right there! I loved her for that.

“Exactly!” I agreed.

Suddenly Jeff and Josh came in.

“We thought we heard you, man!” Josh came over and shook my hand.

“Glad you made it back in one piece, dude!” Jeff slapped me on the back.

Then almost in slow motion, the twins' eyes turned to Sasha. As if in some sort of trance, they came up to her and each took one of her hands and brought them up to their lips and kissed them. It was not the craziest thing I’d seen, so I’d just go with it.

“Sasha, meet Josh, the taller one, and Jeff, the one with bigger muscles. Guys, this is Sasha, Nate’s baby sister,” I informed them.

They didn’t seem bothered by this at all.

“Should we send up a plate for the lovebirds and their baby?” Sam asked.

“That might be a good idea,” I agreed.

Sam helped fill up a plate and handed it off to Candi. These girls worked great together.

Then we all pitched in and set up our once lonely dining table and brought out our food. When Candi was back and we were all settled in, we had our first family meal… Minus two.

But something told me if we waited for Nate and Lissa we would all be six feet under by the time they were done!

But I looked around with a light heart. We were finally home!
