Chapter 9 I Saw My Brother

Late at night.

Ivan lifted the blanket.

It had been a long time since he had slept for more than two hours. And this time, this six–hour sleep made him feel comfortable all over.

He turned on the light and saw the bandage wrapped around his hand.

This wasn’t the bandage Joseph had put on him.

He thought of the woman who had held him in the evening, but he was nervous at the time and didn’t pay close attention.

Ivan was never interested in strangers, so he dismissed the thought and walked towards the computer.

He opened a stock trading software in Heliorea and logged in.

The screen was filled with red and green lines. Each stock had foreign financial reports displayed

below.

Ivan quickly browsed through them, then picked up his phone.

“Add two–thirds to KH112. Reduce HJ990’s position gradually, empty within two days.”

He spoke fluent foreign language, while his young face appeared serious and calm.

After receiving responses, he closed the software, opened a notepad, and clicked on the calendar in the directory.

He opened today’s date and stared at the computer for a while.

Then, he typed a sentence, “I just dreamt of Mom, feeling a bit nostalgic.”

Time passed slowly, and the sky outside gradually brightened. Ivan got dressed and came out for breakfast.

When he saw a red mark on Maximilian’s face, Ivan felt a bit guilty.

He scratched him. In these past two years, he had scratched countless wounds on Maximilian’s body.

They sat face to face, eating silently in the quiet dining room, with only the occasional sound of utensils clinking-

“Today, I’ll take you to school,” Maximilian said.

Ivan simply responded with a faint “uh.”

At the same time, Evelyn’s house was particularly lively.

After meeting Ivan last night, Evelyn had trouble sleeping when she returned home.

She hurriedly made breakfast for her two children in the morning, and they sat together, enjoying each other’s company.

“Lucas, Zoe, listen! Dale will pick you up from school today. I’m a bit busy with work and will be back later,” Evelyn said.

Evelyn had four assistants: Avery Walker, Bailey Carter, Casey Anderson, and Dale Smith..

Each assistant had different responsibilities. Avery helped with company affairs, Bailey was busy with projects abroad, Casey was a bodyguard, and Dale was a personal assistant.

Chapter 91 Saw My Brother

Evelyn had known since yesterday that Ivan suffered from severe insomnia, so she planned to visit him after work.

Taking the two kids with her, Evelyn drove to the kindergarten.

The road was a bit congested, and when they stopped at a traffic light, Lucas rolled down the car window and looked outside.

Coincidentally, the rear window of the black Bentley next to them was also lowered.

Ivan, sitting in the car, seemed to sense Lucas’s gaze and turned to look at him.

Instantly, both children were shocked.

Lucas felt like he was looking in a mirror.

Ten feet away, there was a little boy with exactly the same facial features as his. Although their temperament and clothing were different, the face was simply copy–pasted!

But just then, the traffic light turned green, and the car next to Lucas moved forward first.

Excitedly, Lucas shouted, “Mommy, I saw my brother!”

He pointed at the car next to them, saying, “That must be our lost brother! He looks exactly like

me!”

When Evelyn returned home last night, the kids were already asleep, so she hadn’t had a chance to tell them about Ivan.

She glanced at the license plate in front of them and said, “Yes, that’s your brother, Ivan…”

“Oh no!” Lucas suddenly interrupted her sentence.

“Mommy, I’m not wearing a mask! My brother saw what I look like!”

Evelyn was also taken aback.

If Ivan were to tell Maximilian, their existence would be exposed!

When she gave birth to the children and escaped with Lucas and Zoe, she had erased all traces of her childbirth.

Maximilian had no idea that she actually gave birth to three children.

So, the only thing she could pray for now was that Ivan wouldn’t tell Maximilian anything before they met tonight…

Evelyn was thinking of a plan all the way. Just as she parked the car at the kindergarten, another car rammed into the back of her car heavily!

“Lucas, Zoe, are you okay?” She anxiously asked.

“Mom, I’m fine,” Lucas said and went to check on his sister.

“Zoe is fine, too,” Zoe replied slowly.

Evelyn felt a bit annoyed. She got out of the car and saw a

1 sports car behind her.

“How could you drive so fast in front of a kindergarten?” Evelyn frowned.

The owner of the sports car seemed to be a parent, too. The woman wore sunglasses and looked at Evelyn mockingly, saying, “I thought it was someone. Turns out it’s just a whore.”

Evelyn’s face turned cold, filled with an icy killing intent. “Apologize.”

Intimidated by Evelyn’s aura, the woman instinctively took a step back. But she quickly reacted and stubbornly said, “Your children have no father. What else can you be besides a whore?”

She recognized that Evelyn was beautiful and seductive but didn’t have a man by her side.

The woman heard from her son that Evelyn’s two children never mentioned a father at school. She knew exactly how Evelyn’s children came about!

Evelyn glanced at the arrogant woman and resisted the urge to hit her.

She had given up violence for a long time.

Evelyn picked up her phone and made a call, saying, “Avery, I’ll give you a location. Bring a pen and paper right away. Bring plenty of paper.”
