Moonlit Fur Chronicles: Rising Moon
Chapter 7 Furry Fiend

“Peyton, honey, it’s time to get up,” Sawyer gently urged. She had a massive headache. “Five more minutes,” she groaned. “You don’t want to be late Sweetie, come on,” Sawyer murmured. “Ugh, I had too much wine last night. Need coffee,” she moaned. Sawyer chuckled and went to the kitchen to make coffee. Peyton rubbed the sleep from her eyes, hauled herself up, and sat on the edge of the bed. She remembered her nightmares all too clearly. She stumbled to the shower, she hoped the hot water would wash away the memories of her horrible dreams.

Peyton finished her shower and left the bathroom. The scent of freshly brewed coffee tickled her nose, her stomach growled. She was always hungry, she thought it must be another symptom of the wolf in her chest. Peyton could hear bacon and sausage sizzle in a pan, the smell of bacon and sausage wafted towards her soon after. Her mouth watered and her stomach growled again. Peyton selected jean shorts and an oversize hoodie as her outfit for the day. She followed the delicious scent of break to the kitchen. Sawyer served her a plate and a mug of coffee. She was very grateful. He was a pretty epic boyfriend.

Sawyer served himself and sat next to Peyton. They ate in comfortable silence. It was time for Peyton to leave for class. She grabbed a travel mug and filled it with coffee. She headed out the door to the great unknown. Nothing out of the ordinary happened at school. When Peyton stepped through the doorway to the kennel room, she found a new dog in one of the kennels. It barked and caused a ruckus. Peyton looked into its eyes. The dog settled down immediately. Maybe being a werewolf had some hidden perks. Peyton’s day really picked up after the sun fell behind the horizon.

As soon as the sun slipped down behind the trees, Peyton left her house and marched into the woods. She stashed her clothes behind a tree and sat on her heels. She took a deep breath and reached for the wolf. It complied and Peyton’s body twisted and broke. The pain was terrible but tolerable, she grew accustomed to it. A huge wolf stood where the girl once sat. Peyton was rather proud of herself, she made significant strides in her ability to control the wolf. Peyton bounded off into the woods. She wanted to see if she could find more wolves, other than the mean twins.

Peyton made her way slowly and carefully to the mansion she saw the twins enter. She would smell more wolves, different wolves. It seemed the twins weren’t the only werewolves in the house. She saw the huge man from yesterday and a young woman walk out of the back door. Peyton watched them stroll into the trees and drop their clothes in a bundle. Seconds later, two wolves appeared, one was much bigger than the other. The smaller wolf licked her snout and sniffed the air. She looked hard in Peyton’s direction. Peyton dropped to the ground and became still as stone.

The smaller wolf nudged the huge wolf. It stalked deeper into the woods. The smaller wolf walked back towards the house as if she would go back inside. Peyton quietly watched the smaller wolf. The next thing she knew, something powerful bit down on the scruff of her neck and threw her roughly into the clearing. She landed with a thump. The smaller wolf was inches away from Peyton’s face with fangs bared. Peyton instantly laid her ears flat on her skull and stayed low to the ground. The huge wolf sauntered out of the woods. Peyton whimpered loudly. She knew she would be slaughtered if she tried to fight.

Peyton moaned and grimaced as she forced her body back through the painful transition to human. The smaller wolf let her lips fall over her fangs. She looked at the bigger wolf, he growled menacingly. Peyton kept her face to the ground. She heard the smaller wolf bark softly at the bigger wolf. Her mind registered the sound of the transition, the painful moan and groans. She dared a quick peek. The smaller wolf was shifted to a beautiful young woman. Her voice was musical yet deadly, “What do you want? Why are you stalking us?”

Peyton kept her face pointed at the ground, she pushed herself up a little so she rested on her elbows. “I want to meet you. People like you. I’m all alone and have no one.” Once again, the sounds of crushed bone and ripped flesh tortured Peyton’s ears, followed by a deep husky rumble of a voice. “The Alpha isn’t taking strays.” The words cut through my heart. “Then what are we,” the woman asked the man. “We are different. We fought for her. We earned our place. This…stray is nothing,” he spit the word stray out with contempt. The man lifted Peyton by the neck and glared at her. His eyes lingered too long on her breasts. The woman’s face turned red. The huge man growled at Peyton, “You, Stray, don’t belong here. Do not come back. I will not be so nice next time, neither will the twins.” Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the Find ɴøᴠel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

He stared at Peyton. She could see he was deep in thought, it scared her. A warning growl rumbled in the woman’s chest. Peyton couldn’t tell if it was directed to her or the man. He looked down at the woman beside him, “Shush Phe.” He flung Peyton casually across the clearing like she weighed nothing. Her head slammed painfully against a tree. The wind was knocked out of her. Her face was flush. She felt his eyes linger on her naked body. “What the hell, Jules?!” the woman screamed. Peyton’s vision faded into blackness.
