Chapter 61 

Mickey sneered again. What did it matter if he drove Giselle to work? How much was that car worth, anyway? 

Giselle married a local just to get ahead, not caring whether she was being deceived. Could a few small favors really buy her 

over? 

Mickey entered the office with a dark expression. The employees greeted him immediately, “Good morning. Mr. Blake!” 

“Good morning, Mr. Blake…” 

“Why didn’t you come with Jenny today?” 

Mickey replied, “Jenny has a cold and isn’t feeling well, so she’s resting at home.” 

Just a cold, and she was already taking a day off. Such a delicate lady. 

As for Giselle, a hardworking employee, she had to force herself to complete her work even when she had a fever so severe that she was stumbling as she walked. 

However, Giselle didn’t care about their current lives, or the decisions they made. It was none of her business. 

Giselle was about to head to her desk when Mickey, realizing she wasn’t giving him any extra attention, anxiously said, “I heard your husband drove you to the office this morning.” 

Giselle looked at him with clear eyes. “Mr. Blake, do you have any problem with that?” 

Mickey continued to belittle, “No. I just heard that the car your husband bought is of average quality, not very cost–effective… You’ll want to replace it in a few years.” 

“It’s just for transportation, Mr. Blake. You don’t need to worry about it. How long we use it is our own business.” 

Seeing Giselle’s expression turn cold, no longer sporting the happy smile from earlier, Mickey felt inexplicably uncomfortable. 

He stared at her. “Why didn’t you consider buying a better car? One with better comfort, fuel efficiency, and brand value… Your husband’s taste isn’t that great.” 

“Mr. Blake, my husband can buy whatever car he wants with his own money, and I fully support him. There’s no need for you to worry about us.” 

Giselle used to have a cold, distant demeanor, but her radiant appearance resembled a begonia under the moonlight. 

Merely looking at her would satisfy Mickey’s male ego, and Giselle used to show him a different kind of smile. 

But now… all that was gone. 

Though it was Mickey who cheated first, he still harbored feelings of resentment. 

Mickey spoke more harshly, “I’m only looking out for you. I just hope you can be happy and not be deceived by a man with no talent and no money.” 

His supposedly well–intentioned words were nothing more than an expression of his petty pride. 

Giselle gave a faint smile. “I am happy and fortunate now. Mr. Blake, you may not know how great my husband is, but marrying him has been the luckiest and the best decision I’ve made in recent years.” 

In other words, agreeing to date Mickey was a very wrong decision. 

Mickey felt ridiculed and his face darkened. “You women are easily deceived by superficial, fake things… His kindness to you

is cheap and empty! You don’t even know when it will disappear!” 

“So what? At least I’ve experienced his kindness, and not been deceived or betrayed… After all, he doesn’t want to be a loser living off a rich girlfriend.” 

“Ungrateful! I was trying to help you, but if you won’t listen, then forget it!” 

Mickey stormed into his office, leaving the employees exchanging glances, feeling his attitude was off. 

They had already broken up, so why say such insincere words? 

However, the employees still wanted to stay in this company and were hesitant to express their true thoughts openly. 

Giselle did not pay attention to it. Mickey’s provocations were worthless to her. 

She knew best the gains and satisfaction she received from her marriage with Hymes, and even had countless expectations. for the future. 

With all this in mind. Giselle was already content, and therefore didn’t care about Mickey’s malicious behavior. 

In her eyes, it was just like a fly buzzing around her ear, easily swatted away. 

When Kevin arrived at the company in the morning, he called Mickey to his office for a meeting. After the meeting, Mickey came out looking very happy and said to Giselle. 

“Today, I’m going to Pino Capital. Originally, I was supposed to go with Jenny, but she’s sick today, so you’re coming with 

me.” 

These words were aimed at Giselle. 

Giselle replied, “Mr. Blake, I have my own plans today and cannot go with you.” 

Mickey retorted, “Whatever plans you have, put them aside. This is Mr. Rogers‘ decision, and you can’t refuse.” 

Giselle had to comply as she didn’t have the authority to refuse Kevin’s decision, but she still asked, “Why do you need me to come along?” 

“We’re going to discuss cooperation with Pino Capital, and as the vice president of the brokerage department, you have sufficient knowledge of the department. If we succeed, everyone will benefit, including you.”

Giselle had planned to meet with a partner in the afternoon, but now she had to change her plans. 

Fortunately, she was close with this partner, and meeting them was just casual chatting. So, changing the time wasn’t a big

At noon, Leo brought Giselle some food and reminded her to take her medicine. 

Giselle nodded and said she wouldn’t forget. 

Leo had just left when a colleague peeked over Giselle’s shoulder and said, “This is your husband’s colleague. He looks pretty good, and he’s even selling insurance based on his looks now?” 

Giselle shrugged and replied, “Maybe. Good looks always have an advantage in this society.” 

The colleague then asked, “But he reminded you to take your medicine. Are you sick?” 

Giselle explained that she had some stomach discomfort the night before. 

She went to the resting area and opened her lunchbox, which contained soup and some easily digestible and nutritious food, 

It looked a bit plain. 

When Mickey passed by and saw it, he immediately expressed his disdain.. 

This is your husband’s lunch for you? Is that all?” 

The colleague explained that Giselle was sick and had to eat light food. 

Upon hearing this, Mickey asked with concern, “What’s wrong with you?” 

Giselle shook her head and said, “It’s nothing serious.” 

Mickey wanted to say something but held back, reminding Giselle, “Rest for a while after lunch, and then come with me to Pino Capital.”
