Chapter 50

Liene City was in a state of shock.

Charlotte did not expect Susan to have such a bad temper. She was contacting Jeff to settle it.

She tried to settle it in three days so that it would not affect the Westrope Competition.

Unexpectedly, Susan set off such a huge wave on the internet, which made everyone target Annie.

Susan said, “I just don’t like those two jerks. She stole your man and wanted to suppress you.” Besides that, Annie tried to involve Susan this time.

Susan said she did not mind missing out on a promotion.

However, her promotion was related to her salary raise.

People could obstruct anything from Susan, but she would not let them off the hook easily if someone maliciously stopped her from getting a raise.

Everyone in the company knew that she lacked money, yet Annie did such a thing.

The article was a lesson for Annie.

However, it was a hard lesson.

Annie’s image, which she had worked hard to recover slightly, was bombarded to oblivion by Susan’s breaking news.

Charlotte replied, “Yes, yes, yes. I don’t like her either. All right, just calm down and prepare your luggage.”

“Okay, Ms. Lynn,” Susan joked.

“You naughty girl!” Charlotte chuckled.

Although Charlotte had asked Susan to prepare her luggage and go to Westrope together, Susan still failed to control her temper.

Susan had always hated homewreckers, and Annie was still so proud and aboveboard, which triggered Susan more.

However, Zachary’s protection of Annie lowered their bottom line more.

It was not long after Susan hung up.

Gordon made a phone call. “Charlotte, help me attend a charity gala tonight. Remember to bid a kid, Taylor Tucker’s painting, regardless of the price.”

Charlotte replied, “Okay, got it.”

Chapter 50

ם

The socalled charity gala would auction off some things, and all the money would eventually go to charity

Gordon looked frigid, and his personal life was also a little peculiar, but there would be traces of him in any charity events that he knew.

However, he never left his name. Charlotte did not know why he paid so much attention to it either.

Gordon said, “I’m handling the Westrope issue. Don’t worry. Just take care of your work!”

Charlotte replied, “You don’t have to worry about it. Someone’s helping us handle it.”

Gordon asked, “Who?”

Charlotte answered, “Zachary!”

Gordon asked, “Why is he that kind?”

Gordon never thought Zachary was kind, and he was cruel to Charlotte.

Charlotte sneered, “He’s not kind, of course. But he and Annie will be confirmed to be a shameless couple if I don’t go.”

Gordon was rendered speechless

He did not know what was going on in Liene City, but he was still worried, even though Charlotte said that.

Then, Charlotte hung up on Gordon. She paused her work temporarily and went to her room’s closet to choose a gown for tonight.

Looking at the familiar clothes, Charlotte’s eyes welled up with tears for a moment because Nell and Eleanor customized them for her.

Charlotte did not wear them back then because there was no occasion where she could wear them.

Her figure had barely changed over the years. She could still fit in them, but she had no idea if they suited her.

After putting on a light pink dress, Charlotte had to admit that Nell and Eleanor had good taste.

It was dignified and fashionable.

Buzz! The phone vibrated.

Charlotte glanced at the number. It was a call from Zachary.  sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ FindNʘᴠᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Even if he did not tell her, she knew why he called her. Zachary still loved Annie, after all.

She answered the call and said in a flat tone, “Hello.

Chapter 50

Zachary said, “You win!”

Charlotte asked, “What?”

Zachary answered, “Charlotte, if you can go to Westrope, you have to be able to afford it. I’ll give you this chance.”

Charlotte replied, “Mr. Sullivan, you think too highly of yourself. Even if you don’t give me this chance, I will still go. But you don’t have to look reluctant. It belongs to me anyway. You were shameless enough to take it away maliciously, so you have no right to be aggrieved when return it.”

After saying that, Charlotte hung up without waiting for a reply.

It was obvious that Zachary called her because he thought she caused all the uproar outside.

She did not have to explain anything as long as her goal was achieved.

On the other end of the line, Zachary sat in the dark, his eyes flickering.

“This evil woman… ” He had no idea that she was so cruel.

She said she was forced that night, but he thought she was indecent and even had the nerve to see a psychiatrist.

‘It was just an excuse!‘ Zachary thought.

The more he thought about it, the more annoyed he became.

Tap! He lit a cigarette.

Leo came in.

“Mr. Sullivan,” Leo said.

“Is it all done?” Zachary asked.

“Yes, the article is being processed and will be published soon. As long as you go to a banquet with Ms. Lopez tonight, I believe the scandal will stop!” Leo answered.

“Okay,” Zachary responded sullenly and took a heavy drag on the cigarette again.

Then, he said to Leo, “Tell her to keep a low profile for now and not to mess with that crazy

woman.”

Zachary thought Charlotte was a crazy woman.

Annie had been around him for years, and he knew some of Charlotte’s tricks. He wondered what caused Charlotte to explode now.

Chapter 50

Something must have happened that he did not know about.

“Yes.” Leo nodded

He was impressed with Zachary. Although Zachary defended Annie, Zachary still saw where the problem was.

Leo could tell from his tone that he was not completely on Annie’s side.

Charlotte had just finished trying out a dress.

Mary called, and Charlotte answered the phone. “Mary.”

Her tone was respectful yet distant.

After all, Mary did not like her very much. Charlotte could not force herself to be intimate with someone who did not like her. She just needed to keep a respectful distance.

Mary said, “Accompany me to a charity gala tonight.”

Charlotte replied, “Well”

“What? Are you unwilling to do it?” Mary’s tone on the other end of the line deepened.

Charlotte was silent.

Before she could say anything, Mary added, “You and Zachary aren’t divorced yet. And you’re already refusing to join a gala with me?”

Mary made it sound a little serious.

Finally, Charlotte asked, “Which one?”

When Mary told her about the charity gala, Charlotte realized that they were going to the same one, and she was a little reluctant.

However, thinking of the awkwardness where they would meet, she went with the flow and agreed.

She had just hung up, and the gown Mary sent arrived. Charlotte put the gown she chose back in

the closet.
