Chapter 20 

The Four Oceans Gang disbanded and their leader Xavier was arrested. Overnight, the hierarchy of power in Yiefmery seemed to have changed. 

Martin watched the news on TV and couldn’t calm down for a long time. 

Intuition told him that all of this was definitely related to Magnus. 

“Martin, come over. It’s meal time,” called out a charming and pretty woman. 

It was his wife, who was also Kristin’s mother, Shirley Thompson. 

Martin put down the remote control and, while walking towards the dining table, asked, “Has Kristin not come back yet?” 

“Still not yet. I guess she hasn’t finished dealing with company matters. I left her some food,” Shirley replied. 

The couple began to eat their meal. 

“Dear, do you think I should retire too?” Martin suddenly asked. 

“Retirement sounds great,” Shirley said resentfully, “You’re already over fifty and have been working hard for most of your life. In my opinion, you should just hand the company over to Kristin.” 

She never inquired about the company’s affairs, so she didn’t know that the person now steering the company was her own daughter. 

Martin pursed his lips and didn’t say anything. 

At first, when his daughter took over his place, he couldn’t accept it. However, in the past few days, he had come to terms with it. 

Kristin was his only daughter, and no matter how much money he made now, he couldn’t take it with him when he died. It would still be left to his .daughter! 

“Why do I have to work so hard then?” wondered Martin. 

Martin was even more regretful that he had actually pressured Kristin to marry Shawn, that playboy, for the sake of the company! 

Whenever he thought about this, he felt guilty about Kristin. 

“Dear, I’ve decided to retire and from now on, we’ll just live our lives together, just the two of us,” Martin suddenly said. 

Shirley asked with some surprise, “How did you suddenly come to this decision? Have you discussed this with Kristin?” 

“I just figured it out too. By the way, there’s something that I need to tell you…” Martin said and mysteriously smiled, “Our future son–in–law has appeared.” 

“Future son–in–law?” wondered Shirley. 

Shirley’s face suddenly changed, and she said, “Martin, let me tell you. I am not satisfied with Shawn, and Kristin didn’t like that guy either, so…” 

Martin interrupted, “Not that loser from the Zinn family. It’s someone else!” 

He immediately explained Magnus‘ situation in detail. 

“Martin, you aren’t deceiving me, are you?” asked Shirley. 

Shirley became more and more interested as she listened. 

Martin chuckled and said, “Why would I deceive you? Besides, as far as I know, Kristin and that guy have already…” 

“What has already happened?” Shirley asked. 

“Oh well! They have already… had sex!” Martin gritted his teeth and said it. 

This was also what he overheard that day outside Kristin’s office door. 

Bang! 

Just then, Kristin happened to walk in through the door from outside. 

Martin’s words fell onto her ears without a single word missing which instantly made her little face blush! 

“Dad!” 

“Ahem… Kristin, you’re back,” said Martin. 

Martin felt a bit awkward and immediately gave Shirley a signal before saying, “I’m full, Hunter and the others have invited me to play golf.” 

After speaking, he left with a guilty conscience. 

Kristin sat down at the dining table somewhat shyly. She lowered her head and began to eat the meal. 

Shirley leaned in and asked, “Sweetheart, I heard from your dad that you have a boyfriend now?” 

Kristin felt a bit embarrassed and laughed, saying, “No, don’t listen to dad’s nonsense.”

“Really, there’s no one?” Shirley laughed, knowing her own daughter well. 

Upon seeing Kristin’s reaction, she immediately knew what had happened. 

“I have told you that you’re not getting any younger, so if he is a good guy, bring him home for mom to take a look,” said Shirley. 

“Oh well! Mom, things haven’t even started to take shape yet!” Kristin complained. 

Shirley’s face suddenly darkened, and she said discontentedly, “I think something already happened between you two. If not, would you have slept with that guy?” 

Upon hearing this, the blush on Kristin’s face grew even deeper. 

“I’m full!” blurted out Kristin. 

She put down the cutlery and ran back to her room as if escaping. 

“Sweetheart, remember to bring your boyfriend home for me to meet, okay?” Shirley’s voice came from outside. 

Kristin lay in bed, still feeling shy. 

Ding! Ding! 

The phone rang with a WhatsApp notification sound. Kristin quickly opened it. 

[Babe, have you taken a bath yet?] A message was sent by Xylia. 

Kristin replied: [I just finished eating, not yet!] 

Xylia: [I told you, I accomplished a great feat. You know Xavier, right? I personally arrested him…] 

.Kristin looked at the text message and suddenly thought of something. 

The dissolution of the Four Oceans Gang was likely to be related to Magnus. 

Thinking of this, she sent a text message asking: [Didn’t you guys not have any evidence against Xavier before? How come you suddenly have it now?] 

Xylia: [Don’t even mention it. I spent a lot of money to get evidence on that guy.] 

Kristin: [The evidence was bought with money?] 

Xylia: [It was that annoying guy who sold it to me.] 

Upon seeing this, Kristin was stunned for a moment before realizing who Xylia was talking about: [Where did he get the evidence?] 

Xylia: [Who knows? I was planning to try and get some information from him, so I won’t say more for now.] 

Meanwhile, at Shadewoods Estate, Xylia put down her phone and changed into a soft, thin black gown, a smile curving at the corner of her lips. 

Downstairs, Magnus was lying on the couch watching a variety show that made him laugh out loud. 

Just then, there was a sound of door opening from upstairs. 

Magnus looked up and saw Xylia slowly walking down the stairs. 

That wasn’t the main point! The main point was, this woman was only wearing a black sheer nightgown, her long hair draped behind her, and those white, long thighs caught his eyes! 

Magnus stared straight at her, cursing in his heart, “Minx!” 

Xylia walked over with small steps and sat down right next to him. 

A faint scent wafted towards him, and Magnus couldn’t help but swallow his saliva. 

“Is the TV show good?” Xylia asked softly. 

“Mm–hmm,” Magnus nodded.

Intuition told Magnus that this woman definitely had a scheme. 

But… He had always been the least afraid of schemes! 

He sat back down on the couch and even deliberately leaned closer, saying, “Of course, you look better.” 

“Really?” Xylia giggled.

Magnus couldn’t help but glance at those long legs again, and with a lewd smile, he said, “Of course it’s true.” 

“I don’t believe it. Not a single one of you men tell the truth,” Xylia pouted. 

“Those are other men. I definitely wouldn’t deceive women, especially beautiful ones,” stated Magnus. 

While speaking, Magnus moved a bit closer. 

“Is that so?” said Xylia as she turned her head to look at him. 

“But you wouldn’t tell me how you got Xavier’s evidence of guilt…” pouted Xylia.
