The weeks upon weeks, had gone by quicker than I could keep track and soon enough months had passed and although we had fallen into a nice routine with Dahlia and Lila taking care of Dyna and myself and Kai driving down for Atticus’ return to the house for updates and to see the small child, it was becoming for difficult for me to do so as my due date gets closer and closer.

Not to mention, how worrying and confusing it is each time Atticus returns with no updates. Cain had seemingly fallen off the face of the earth, no one had seen him, no tracks, no scents, there was no trance of him or the rest of my so called family.

The odd circumstances remained the same the entire time Atticus had been searching and it was putting me on edge, something in the back of my head was screaming at me to be prepared for an attack.

Even though the possibility of my old pack attacking was always there, after Cain's warning, Helena's death and his sudden disappearing act, it was starting to feel much more real and much more of a possibility than ever before.

After voicing my concerns to Kai, over and over again, each time he would listen and reassure me that he was taking security precautions. Everyone is alert and aware.

He had called a meeting, when I had first voiced my concerns, warning everyone in the clan of the possibility of being attacked by the wolves. He gave an option for those who wanted it, to leave and join other clans, making it clear that he would make the arrangements and rejoin us when the danger had passed, if they wanted to

To my surprise, only a handful of clan members took up this offer. The majority wanted to stay, to defend their home and help their leader and dare I say, even me.

Regardless of everything, Kai and I have been continuing to live our life, planning for our child to join us in the world and holding onto the happiness that we have found in each other.

Huffing in annoyance, I turn onto my back and stare down at my stomach, watching as the baby continues to press her little toes into me with force. My lips purse at the discomfort I feel as the baby leans against my organs, when she moves to press against my bladder, I scramble from the bed, making an awkward half run, half waddle to the bathroom, not even managing to close the door behind me.

As I wash my hands, I hear Kai's sleep coated voice drift through from the room. " Can't sleep again? "

"No "1 grumble, exiting the bathroom. " She's too active. I know I'm supposed to be all happy and glowing or whatever, but pregnancy kind of sucks ass. "

Kai lets out a breathy laugh, sitting up against the headboard and rubbing his eyes as I take my place beside him. " Not long now, my darling. " He reminds me.

" This will be the longest three weeks of my life if she continues this carry on. " I argue, leaning back against the headboard too.

Kai takes my hand in his, lacing our fingers together and giving me a gentle squeeze. " I know, but it'll be worth it right?

" When I have her in my arms? Definitely. * I whisper, rubbing my free hand over my bump.

A soft giggle escapes my lips as I watch the movement of my stomach, due to the small child hiccuping inside me. Kai lets out a snort of laughter, leaning down to press his lips to my bump, when he removes them, he stays where he is while he whispers to the baby.

" Try hold your breath little one. * He says, then pauses for a series of seconds. " Actually you're that troublesome, you'd probably need the hiccups scared out of you. "

This time, I let out a loud and very unladylike snort. " Ain't that the truth.

Kai moves back up the bed, laying down on his side and bringing his hand up, trailing it across my stomach in a slow, soothing manner. We remain quiet for a few minutes, until I break the silence with one of the many thoughts that has been plaguing my mind.

" Kai? "I call to him, making him hum in response, waiting for me to continue. * What will happen with us? *

This makes him immediately move from his comfortable position and prop himself up on his arm. * What do you mean? *

" Well... You're immortal, I'm not. " I whisper.

" What has you thinking this? " He asks me, his eyebrows furrowing.

" Surely you've thought of it too? " I shake my head at him.

" Of course I have, but this just seems out of nowhere, that's all. * He explains, to which I nod.

" I've been thinking of it since you and dahlia shared all of those stories with me in the car. " My words make him sigh softly.

"1 have too, if I'm honest. * he mumbles.

" So, what's going to happen with us? " I ask him again.

He takes in a deep breath, exhaling heavily before speaking. * I'm not too sure how it works, with you being a hybrid and all, but I could turn you, after the baby of course. *

" What do you think could happen? " I question, thinking about my hybrid nature and bringing vampirism into the mix, properly for the first time.

" Normally when a witch is turned, they lose the ability to practice magic, if a wolf is turned they lose that part of them. " He informs me. " So I don't know if you'll lose both your gifts and your wolf nature if you're turned, or what will happen. "

I nod in understanding, this haven't crossed my mind before. " How exactly do you turn someone anyway? " I continue my questioning.

" Another complication of the whole thing. Someone needs to be fed vampire blood and then be completely drained of their blood, to the point of death, by the same vampire who's blood they ingested. Afterward when they wake up, they feed on the vampire that turned them again. " He explains.

" What if another vampire drains the person? " I mumble, tilting my head slightly.

" The person just dies. " He tells me.
