"So, Evan and Jaxon, huh," Dyami said on the way.

I smiled as the pair of boys in question crossed my mind. "Evan is really nice."

Dyami snorted. "What can I say? As his best friend, I am the good influence."

Rolling my eyes, I told him, sarcastically, "Yes, Dyami, he's nice because of you."

The boy chuckled at my words, making me appreciate how far we had come. Zynthéa had been right. He really wasn't that bad once he learned to trust someone. To think this boy was the same boy that I had met over a year ago, that was really insane to me.

Dyami's face became serious again. "I'm glad I didn't kill Jaxon despite how much I wanted to. I have your mate to thank that for," he said, his voice hard. "I can't even imagine what that would have done to Evan."

"I'm glad as well. I know it wasn't easy for you, and it's how we move forward from here on that matters," I reassured him, giving him a side glance.

The corner of his lips curled up, and he raised a brow. "Who would've thought a year later you would be accompanying me to the training grounds?"

I gave him a bored look. "And this time, I will kick your ass if you act up."

Dyami grinned and raised his hands in the air defensively. "Yes, ma'am."

After that, we remained quiet for the most part as we made our way. I tried to mind-link my mate, but my thoughts kept bouncing back. Dyami told me he wasn't able to get through either. My wolf seemed quiet, she was probably confused too.

When we reached the training grounds, I was disappointed when Alexander was nowhere in sight. I could feel a loud pang in my chest at the realisation.

The crowd of wolves awaiting gave me no room to worry about my mate, though. As their leader, I needed to ensure their training was running smoothly with no distractions. Especially when their Alpha was not present.

"Is everyone here?" I asked Dyami, whom seemed to be scanning the area.

I was sure he was both looking to ensure everyone was here and because he was searching for my mate.

After another quick scan, Dyami gave me a single nod, his professionalism now back on. "Correct, Luna."

My eyes roamed over the various male and female wolves, all looking eager to train. At times like this, having these members and training them, made me realise how wonderful it was being their Luna. They were good wolves, and I wanted them to feel protected despite the fact that it was their role to protect the pack.

"Before we begin training, I would like to tell you all how proud I am of each and every one of you," I told the crowd, my eyes roaming over them quickly. "I can appreciate how hard it must have been during this time to adjust to new training regimes and to each other after the packs were combined."

The crowd murmured words of agreement, some nodded and others smiled.

I continued with my speech, making it short, not wanting to waste their training time but made sure that they knew they were appreciated for their time and dedication to the pack.

"And with that said, today's training will be proceeded with by Dyami," I told them, pointing to the beta by my side. "Be good or as you may know, he will bite."

Dyami narrowed his eyes at me, a smirk playing on his lips. I returned a smile of my own, before instructing the pack to go ahead with training.

The new she-wolves looked eager to train, and I couldn't help but chuckle at them. They seemed so carefree and excited. I was glad they were here as they needed to level up their training. Dyami and Adam were perfect for that. They were our best fighters, after all.

It made me happy to know Silver Crescent now had she-wolf fighters, when a year ago that wasn't even a thing here. Re-introducing she-wolf fighters had been a challenge but my mate had quickly realised they were also very strong.

"Do we know where Alexander is?" I whispered to Adam when the boy came to stand by my side.

The curly haired boy shrugged. "He was here earlier, but left quickly. I assumed it was to see you."

His words made me frown.

Again, after mind-linking my mate, my thoughts bounced back. By this point, I was considering sending Adam to look for my mate.

Instead, my wolf snarled and wanted to dominate. She had been quiet all along, only now making her appearance. I had suppressed her for too long and a run would help her loosen up.

I remained at the training grounds for another ten minutes, observing the fighters to see where there needed to be improvement. After spending time with Dyami, I had become quite good at fighting myself.

It was important for a Luna to know how to protect herself and her pack. And with Alpha blood running in my veins, that put me at an advantage. If only I had known that a year ago.

After I was satisfied with the training, I excused myself from the beta and third in command. My wolf was practically screaming at me to shift, but I couldn't understand why.

When I shifted and my bones stretched out, my wolf purred, probably from the fact that she had won the battle against me. Little did she know, I wasn't giving in, I needed a run too.

It was a run for both my wolf and I, but I also used this time to see if I could locate Alexander.

He could handle himself and I wasn't too worried, per say. But I was confused as to why he would block me out. It rarely happened, and he would never normally leave me hanging without telling me.

After about half an hour later, I started to get tired. I had traced most of the land, and decided to settle by the nearest waterfall.

Alexander would come and find me eventually when he was done with whatever it was that was keeping him occupied.

My furry head rubbed against the soft green grass and the sun beamed through the little clouds in the sky, bringing vibrance and light to the area.

Despite all the worries in the world, this place was like heaven and made me feel as though everything else was insignificant.

My eyes closed as the sun shone on to my fur, enjoying every second of the vitamin D that I was receiving.

Except the peacefulness that I was feeling, quickly diminished when my wolf growled and perked her ears up. My eyes fluttered open and I glanced ahead in the distance.

My wolf must have felt and seen it before I could, because she was going insane.

In the distance, on the other side of the waterfall, was Alexander. I smiled and exhaled in relief as I realised he had located me. He appeared so breathtaking, standing topless with only a pair of shorts on. His hair stuck up in all the right directions and my God, was he just dashing even with such simplicity.

His muscly chest excited me, but surprisingly, my wolf was snarling instead. I thought she was being absurd, until I realised Alexander wasn't here because of me. In fact, he hadn't even noticed me.

The brunette that had bothered me at the mate ceremony a couple of days ago, the same one that had barged in to mine and Alexander's room, the one that had eye-fucked him pretty that whole night and escaped to the balcony with my mate, came up behind him.

My wolf snarled as the brunette, wearing a very short yellow dress with long slender tanned legs, appeared in my vision.

My brows furrowed, and my heart sunk as I watched the two. Alexander had promised she was an old family friend, but right now that did not seem to be the case. She looked like she was more than a friend, with her eyes glued on my mate. It confused me as to why she was still even in our territory.

Alexander's jaw was clenched, he looked furious. I didn't even have time to ponder on why he appeared angry when the girl placed her hand on Alexander's arm, making him turn around to face her.

A smile was plastered on her face, and as my wolf growled loudly, the girl reached up and wrapped her arms around my mate's neck, tightly and intimately.

Oh, hell fucking no.
