My Luna Mate
Chapter Twenty-Eight

LYRA

Alexander appeared completely frozen after my outburst.

I had planned in my head how to tell him about our pup, and this definitely hadn't been the way, but the words escaped before I could think.

"Alexander," I whispered after a good minute of silence. "Are you okay?"

Alexander's brows knitted together. His eyes scanned my face before they travelled down to my stomach, making me squirm in my seat. He was glancing at me with such intense eyes.

Was he not happy about the news? Because I didn't blame him if he wasn't. We were still awaiting the results of the DNA, I couldn't blame him for having any ill feelings. But the thought made me feel sad.

I wanted at least one of us to react in a happy way to the news of us expecting our pup, but that did not seem the case with Alexander either.

I thought Alexander was going to say something when he cleared his throat, but instead, completely surprised me by wrapping his arms around me and pulled me flush in to him.

"Oh, Lyra," he finally muttered, letting out a shaky breath. "You're having a pup? My pup?"

I blinked a couple of times, registering his words a bit slower than normal. I pulled back. "You're not mad?"

Alexander frowned. "Mad? Baby, why would I be mad? You're going to birth our pup."

His hands immediately groped my stomach, and he leaned down to be levelled with the tiny-slowly developing pup.

"Hey, little Alpha," he whispered. "It's your daddy."

I rolled my eyes but chuckled. "I thought you would be angry because the timing is terrible and the possibility of the other pup—"

Alexander cut me off by lifting his head and pressed his lips to mine. His hand supported my neck by holding me firmly.

I responded to his kiss eagerly, enjoying his close proximity.

"This is perfect," he murmured against my lips. "You are perfect."

I pecked at his lips a couple of more times, overjoyed to know he was in fact ready to be a father.

"I wanted to wait until the results were out to tell you," I told him, biting my lower lip.

Alexander smiled adoringly at me. "And you did," he stated.

"What do you mean?" I asked, confused.

"Baby, the pup is not mine."

My brows furrowed at his words, and I glanced at him, completely stunned.

"The pup isn't yours?" I repeated, my eyes slowly widening at the news.

Alexander chuckled softly, before brushing a piece of my hair out of my face. "Correct. Our pup is my only pup."

I quite literally threw myself on top of him, squealing at the news. He didn't share a pup with that bitch, and that excited both my wolf and I.

Alexander chuckled loudly. "Easy, baby. I'm still taking you to the doctor."

I didn't even react to his words, not caring what he wanted me to do. I was overjoyed by the news that even the pup remained good and my nausea had vanished.

My wolf and I partied internally at the news. Our pup was the only pup, and I could jump up and down with satisfaction.

I grinned from ear to ear as I nodded at Alexander. "Fine, I suppose it won't hurt to accept that fluid bag that the doctor recommended."

Alexander gave me a side glance, probably questioning my sanity, but I leaned back in my seat and whistled a tune as I eagerly tapped on my thighs.

"I will be driving slower," Alexander promised as he turned the car on. "I should have known yesterday, I am sorry."

I placed my hand on top of his, reassuringly. "You didn't know, so it's fine. Plus, I doubt I will be sick anymore."

Alexander raised my hand on his and pecked the back gently. He didn't release my hand, instead held it firmly with his as he drove away.

Apparently a human maintained the house when Alexander was not around. It made sense as to how the house remained clean and fully stocked with groceries.

The second that the thought of food crossed my mind, my stomach instantly rumbled loudly.

I groaned in embarrassment, glancing at the side eyes that Alexander gave me. A smirk played on his lips, as he swerved the car.

"My little pup is hungry," he beamed, a teasing grin on his face.

I raised a brow at him, but didn't say anything when I saw him pull up to a drive thru. Shaking my head, I smiled as we approached the speaker.

After ordering, Alexander raised my hand again to place another kiss on the back.

"If you need anything else, let me know, alright?" he muttered. "I don't want you to feel like you are in this alone. I will take care of both of you."

I smiled in awe at my mate, leaning my head forward to rest against his shoulder. Alexander smiled down at me, before he pecked my head quickly.

"I love you," I told him, inhaling his musky scent.

Then my brows furrowed, realising the server at the drive thru would see my mate topless.

"You alright?" Alexander asked when I pulled my head away.

I ignored him and glanced to the back seats, to see if he had any spare clothes laying around. To my utter shock, he actually had a jumper there.

Reaching over, I grabbed the grey jumper and handed it to my mate.

Alexander raised a brow. "You want me to put this on?"

I shrugged. "Humans don't drive around topless," I reminded him. "Quickly before we reach the window."

Alexander chuckled at my words, but he grabbed the jumper and pulled it over his chest. Once done, he leaned forward and pecked my lips quickly just before we reached the window.

My eyes darted to the human girl with the headset on at the window. She brought the card machine, but stopped in her tracks when she saw my mate.

Her eyes roamed over him, and I swear at one point, she even stood on her tip toes to glance further down at him. I growled lowly, but clearly that took no effect on her since she was a mere human.

My mate on the other hand, grinned, before he squeezed my hand tightly.

The girl at the window was asking for a death wish because next she tried to make conversation with Alexander. I scoffed in astonishment. Were humans just plain rude or oblivious? Was she blind? Could she not see that Alexander clearly had a woman?

Alexander didn't entertain the girl. Instead, he rolled his window up and turned to me.

"It will be a couple of minutes," he told me. "Are you sure you don't want anything else?"

My eyes remained on the girl, before I returned to my mate, who appeared quite amused.

"What?"

Alexander raised a brow, a smirk on his lips. "Nothing," he denied. "I guess hunger affects you more than I thought it would." Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ (F)indNƟvᴇl.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

I glared at him, but didn't say anything else when the girl at the window appeared with a paper bag, signalling that our food was here.

"The food," I told Alexander, nodding towards the window.

Alexander rolled the window down, but before taking the bag from the girl, he leaned over and pecked my cheek.

"You are cute when you're jealous," he whispered, lowly, before he pulled away.

A blush crept over my face, and I watched as he leaned back to grab the bag from the girl. I was jealous, I couldn't even deny that.

The girl sent me a glare, before she flashed her white pearl teeth at my mate as she smiled and wished him a good day.

I rolled my eyes, and eyed the smirk on my mate's face as he sped away from the drive thru.

I opened the paper bag, ignoring how amused Alexander appeared. I fished out the sandwich and began to chew on it, whilst Alexander reached forward and turned on classical radio.

After eating, my pup was satisfied enough to lay low. I was grateful because that meant the rest of the ride passed by without me feeling nauseous.

We arrived back at Silver Crescent a lot faster than I thought.

Alexander pulled up outside of the pack house, and at first, I was completely relieved to know we were in our familiar territory and in our house.

But when his mother came in to view, I cowered back in my seat. Her eyes were dark and hard, she was glaring at us from where she was stood at the doorstep.

When the car came to a halt, I glanced at my mate, expecting for him to appear joyed to find his mother here. Except, I was completely taken aback by his charcoal eyes and tensed jaw.

"Baby, stay in the car," he warned, before he swung his door open and exited the car, leaving me to frown after him.
