As we all start to pack our gear and head out. Sam slips something in my hand as he passes by, not looking at me. Someone must be watching. This is so stupid. I bend down like I am digging through my bag so I can read it.

“No idea, but it weighs a ton.” I set it down on the floor, there is no way I am lifting it onto the table.

I open the top and gasp. It’s filled to the brim with books, ingredients, candles. It’s like an old world apothecary.

“There’s a note on top.” Jena points from over my shoulder.

“What’s it say?” Lil asks and I don’t know why but a sense of dread comes over me.

I pull the deep emerald green book out. This one is small like a notebook you would keep in a purse, but filled with spells and notes. I flip to the page marked with a sprig of holly and a fern leaf.

The instructions are simple enough to follow. There are several ingredients that we must bundle together and place outside around the perimeter of our house and then a few things for the doors and windows. There are also instructions for woven bracelets for my team and I think I know how to break my boys from their prison.
