Chapter 14 

The distance between the two once again closed. They were even closer than before. 

Maria’s whole body stiffened. She raised her hand in rejection, placing it on Frank’s chest. 

Her heart raced nervously until it was almost at her throat. 

“I didn’t,” she said. Other than denying it, she didn’t know what else she could say. 

“It better not be,” Frank spoke coldly. Then, he curled his lips and went on, “If you want to have sex, just tell me. There’s no need to seduce me like this. I am your husband. Satisfying my wife’s desires is my husbandly duty.” 

Maria felt embarrassed at his words. What nonsense was he talking about? 

“I don’t have that kind of thing!” Maria was both embarrassed and annoyed. She felt exasperated. 

“No?” Frank raised an eyebrow, looking down at the woman in his arms. 

“Who was the one who clung to me yesterday and left nail marks on my back?” Frank said deliberately. Staring at Maria’s embarrassed expression, his mood suddenly improved. 

“Please don’t say anymore…” Maria lowered her head, her voice turning quiet as a mouse’s squeak. 

Her whole body felt like it was on fire. At that time, she had no idea what she had done. When he shamelessly said it out loud like this, she wanted to find a hole to hide in. 

Frank watched her embarrassment and how she had nowhere to hide from him. 

Her humiliation brought him a perverse satisfaction, yet at the same time, it left a profoundly uncomfortable feeling in his 

heart. 

“If you don’t want to hear, don’t come up with ways to attract my attention. Otherwise, I don’t mind sharing your performance in bed with you!” Frank spoke coldly and withdrew the arm that was holding the woman’s waist. 

He turned abruptly and left the kitchen without taking another look at her. 

His departure seemed to take away the scorching heat at the same time. Maria’s body gradually calmed down. 

She hugged herself and bowed her head helplessly. 

A tear fell. Under the moonlight, it landed on the floor and mixed with the spilled hot oatmeal. 

Maria wiped away her tears. She was determined not to be defeated. She had her mother who needed her! 

Supporting herself against the wall, she made her way toward the stairs by herself. Standing at the bedroom door, Maria hesitated again. 

‘Is Frank inside at this time? What if he thinks I am trying to seduce him again?‘ she wondered.

Maria stood in front of the bedroom door but dared not open it. She was afraid that if she went in, she might encounter Frank, making it awkward for them. 

After hesitating for a moment, Maria did not reach out to open the door. She turned silently and walked downstairs. 

Sleeping on the couch in the living room for a night should be fine. 

Maria endured the discomfort in her body and lay down on the couch, closing her eyes and quickly falling asleep.

Chapter 14 

She didn’t know how long she had slept when she felt very cold. She reached out for the covers but couldn’t find any. Opening her eyes in a daze, she remembered that she was on the couch in the living room. 

Maria was freezing. She was sure that she would catch a cold if she continued like this. 

Since she couldn’t go to the bedroom, perhaps she could sleep in the guest room. The bed in the guestroom should have 

covers. 

With this in mind, Maria went upstairs again, heading straight to the guest room on the second floor. Opening the door carefully, she slipped inside. 

Slowly and quietly, Maria approached the bed, lifted the covers without thinking, and got under it. Shortly after, she drifted back to sleep. 

That was, until a roar echoed in her ears, waking her up at once.
