Maria was stunned when she heard Frank’s words. She lowered her head to look at her clothes.
She was wearing dark blue sportswear and did not change it when she did the cleaning. She did not have time to change her clothes before she rushed to visit Basil.
She thought, ‘It’s a dark color. I doubt anyone would notice if it’s dirty. Frank is so strange. Why did he insist on me changing my clothes?‘
As Maria was about to ask Frank the question, his phone rang. He retrieved it from his pocket and answered the call.
He noticed that Maria was still sitting in his car. He frowned and ordered, “Get off my
car.”
Maria pursed her lips and swallowed the words that she wanted to say. Then, she opened the door and left the car.
However, Maria did not go shopping for clothes. Instead, she was drawn to a doll store and decided to go inside.
Dolls had unspeakable magic power over girls, including Maria.
Maria remembered that when she was a kid, she had a doll she loved so much. Unfortunately, she lost it one day when she was out.
Maria had been crying about it for days. Luckily, she found it in the bush near her house. However, someone slashed the doll’s exquisite face and tore its dress. She could barely recognize it was her doll.
It was her first and only doll because her mother and she lived a difficult life after her parents‘ divorce.

pushed the door open and went into the doll store. She looked around and could not help but exclaim.
The store had a variety of dolls, ranging from the tiniest, about 1 inch tall, to the largest, standing as tall as a human.
Maria was captivated by the dolls and completely forgot Frank’s words.
Two saleswomen were chatting near the cashier’s desk. When they saw Maria in plain clothes, they figured she couldn’t afford any dolls.

The store focused on imported dolls, with some crafted by renowned designers. As a result, the prices were ten times or even a hundred times higher than those in supermarkets.
Numerous people, drawn in by the store’s exquisite appearance, entered but left without purchasing because the dolls were too expensive.
The two saleswomen thought Maria would be shocked by the price and left embarrassingly.
Maria explored the store and was pleasantly surprised to come across a soft and delicate kitten keychain.
When Maria raised her hand and tried to take it, a saleswoman shouted, “That is handmade. If you don’t buy it, don’t touch it. You must buy it if you break it!”
Maria’s slender fingers halted about half an inch from the keychain. She thought for a while and took it down.
Another saleswoman noticed Maria taking the keychain from the shelf and grumbled, “Hello? We’ve already told you not to touch it if you are not going to buy it. Are you deaf or something?”
María got annoyed by those words. She frowned and looked at those two saleswomen, retorting, “Is this your principle of treating customers?”
One saleswoman was irritated and shouted, “What if you break it and leave it when we are not looking at you? We have to pay for the damaged products.”
Another saleswoman agreed, saying, “Yeah. Check the price before you take anything. Don’t touch it if you can’t afford it.”
Maria rolled her eyes and asked, “Why do you think I can’t afford it?”
