Prologue
Standing on my balcony and looking out at my property, I realize how successful I really am. I have power, fame, family, and enemies. The people that work for me—that kill for me—are my family. I look at them and see a mixture of happiness, and sadness. Do some of those people want to live normal lives like he did? Do they want to run away for love like he did?
If things went differently, I would have been whisked away to somewhere safe, and remote. I would have been living in a fairytale. No killing or enemies; just peace and quiet with the person I love.
Things didn’t go that way. I’m stuck here. Stuck with killing, and enemies. Stuck with the fear that I am going to die someday without actually living.
Stuck…without him.
