She wasn’t too pleased that it took an accident for Kendrick to heed her. Yet, she was elated that it meant that he couldn’t be distracted by other women. 

Kendrick’s patience was running thin. In a brisk tone, he demanded, “Why were you so reckless?” 

This only made Linda feel more sorry for herself. “You never came back. I assumed you wouldn’t turn up tonight and decided to go for a drive. I didn’t expect things to turn out this way.” 

Linda always spoke to Kendrick in a pleasing and submissive tone. 

“I forgot to tell you that I was going to be working overtime tonight and wouldn’t be able to get there. I’ll make it up to you once you’re released from the hospital.” Kendrick’s spine stiffened as memories of Samantha resurfaced. 

Apart from that night four years ago, she would wait for him without complaint no matter how late he went home. 

She realized that Kendrick planned to leave her in the hospital alone. Linda hurriedly interjected, “Kenny, I’m fine. I don’t need to be hospitalized.” 

Linda was not going to let such a good opportunity pass her by. 

Kendrick paused and turned to look at Damien, who nodded to verify Linda’s 

statement. 

“But it’ll be difficult to live by yourself with your ankle like this.” Kendrick was hesitant. He wasn’t fond of how spoiled Linda was. Kendrick thought about it and realized she was right. His mentor would be displeased to know that he had handed Linda over to someone else. 

Kendrick was troubled but nodded. “Fine.” 

Damien shook his head with a smirk. Since the two had made up their minds, he was no longer needed. He patted Kendrick’s shoulder and said his goodbyes before leaving. 

It was obvious what Linda’s intentions were. Damien was aware that Kendrick had no feelings for her. That was Damien’s reason for shielding Kendrick from other women’s advances. 

However, Linda wasn’t just any other woman. When it came to her, Kendrick was stuck between a rock and a hard place, which was why things kept turning out 

this way. 

It took Samantha a day to complete the edit of her first draft. She wanted to hand it to Kendrick but realized that he hadn’t come into the office. 

So, she placed the document on his desk and prepared to go home. 

Kendrick’s presence wasn’t important. After all, she also did not wish to see him after what happened last night.. 

Moreover, she had an important event tonight. 

There was going to be a grand banquet in Sentius City. Samantha usually wasn’t interested in elite banquets like these. However, tonight’s feast was going to be different. There was going to be an extremely important person attending.
