When she was at work, it was as if she was in another world. 

Her gaze was entirely focused on the screen in front of her. The light from the screen accentuated the highlights and shadows of her face. 

She wasn’t aware that he was attracted by the sight of her being focused on her work. 

It took almost half an hour for her to amend the inconspicuous flaws in her draft. 

She sent the document to Kendrick’s inbox and then took the opportunity to stretch her arms and legs. 

Right when she was immersed in her short break, Kendrick had walked to the front of her desk. 

He bent down and looked at her. “Ms. Meadows, I do not wish to employ a corporate spy.” 

Samantha could see her reflection in his eyes. At the same time, she could feel the wind of his breath on her cheeks, but it was chilling to the bone. 

She withdrew her hands and stared bravely back at him. 

She decided to use reverse psychology on him. “A spy? Do you think a small 

designer like myself would be able to make your company fall?” 

Kendrick seemed to ease up on his glum expression, but he still raised his hand and grabbed her chin. 

“Of course not. Just stay away from him.” 

She couldn’t argue with his threatening words. Even if she intended to, Conrad, who was difficult to grasp, might not even cooperate with her. 

That said, she still hated how arrogant Kendrick looked. Perhaps it was this same arrogance that ruined her family’s business back then. 

Samantha lifted her hand and gripped Kendrick by the wrist.

She raised her hand up high to slap Kendrick to his senses. Instead, he grabbed her wrist effortlessly and pulled her off her chair. 

“Is this how you treat your employees, Mr. Ford? Maybe I shouldn’t have signed the agreement in the first place!” Samantha raised her voice. 

Kendrick stared at the way that Samantha was being enraged. He felt as if he could 

no longer see the old Samantha.

“An outlet for venting? In that case, are you treating Linda as an outlet for you to vent?” 

Even Kendrick himself felt that he just made a weak excuse, but he always followed his instincts. 

He hated it if anyone touched Sophia, especially if that person was Conrad! 

She breathed slowly to calm herself down. Subconsciously, she clenched the hem of her clothes tightly. 

Linda was really the apple of his eye. The lonely feeling from that year surged up once again. 

She felt that it was so ridiculous. Any thought of Samantha should’ve long disappeared from his mind, shouldn’t it? 

Linda was the one whom he trusted the most. That was why he commanded her to

Her feelings hit rock bottom, and her mind was filled with burning hatred.

She could hide her feelings well once again. 

She kept hinting to herself that perhaps the memories from back then were still fresh in her mind. Perhaps she was still unable to forget them. 

Kendrick stood by the floor–to–ceiling window, watching her as she stood by the roadside. She straightened her back and pulled her coat tight in the night breeze. 

A red Ferrari made a brief stop by the road. Any trace of Samantha vanished along with the car. 

His eyebrows drew together into a deep frown.
