There was a subtle chill in the night air. 

Francis, the host, stood by the wide open window. He held a glass of champagne as the breeze played with his burgundy locks. 

A few b*dyguards stood nearby. It was a formation that no one dared approach. 

Samantha exchanged her champagne for red wine. She stood a short distance away and watched Francis. 

He winked at her cheekily and motioned for the b*dyguards to step back. 

He strolled over to Samantha before holding out his hand. 

“I’m Francis. It’s a real honor to meet a beautiful lady like you.” 

“Sophia. I hear you’re the host?” Samantha shook his hand with a warm smile.

Francis nodded and tried to turn away but accidentally knocked over Samantha’s 

wine glass. The red wine splashed all over them. 

The onlookers shot confused looks at them, but Francis deftly caught the falling 

glass, paying no attention to the bright red wine stains on his pristine white suit. 

“Sorry,” Francis muttered. 

The nearest waiter quickly approached to wipe away the wine stains. 

Samantha could only wear a look of resignation as she took the cloth and gently 

dabbed at the stains. 

Even though it was a black dress, traces of red wine can still show up. 

The commotion soon caught the attention of Kendrick, who was standing not far 

away. 

Realizing that Samantha was at the center of the commotion, he frowned and 

walked over. 

He left the businessman with whom he had been trying to strike up a conversation. 

“Take Ms. Meadows to change in the back,” Francis ordered. He promptly removed 

his jacket and showed a disgusted expression. 

The waiter nodded hastily and gestured nervously for Samantha to follow him.

Dealing with someone completely unknown always brought a sense of fear to him.

Kendrick’s voice dropped slightly. His already deep tone was tinged with 

impatience. 

The tightening of Kendrick’s grip around her waist made Samantha frown slightly. 

Unconsciously, she tugged at the hem of his jacket. 

She shot him a reproachful look. 

Kendrick couldn’t help but curl his l*ps at the sight.
