An unpleasant aroma of coffee wafted through the air.
She disliked drinking coffee outside of work hours and loathed the smell that lingered on her clothes.
“You can’t even apologize?” Lucia Zengler snapped as she swatted away the staff’s hand that tried to wipe her down.
“You should be the one to apologize. Running around a place like this is totally inappropriate.”

gave the staff a cold look. She handed the staff her card and motioned for
him to get her car.
She had no intention of getting into trouble.
The staff hesitated between the two customers but finally chose the one who was
willing to pay.
After a few apologies, she left. Lucia was left alone, looking disheveled with coffee
stains.
As Lucia prepared to speak, a commotion at the entrance caught everyone’s
attention. Several men surrounded Lucia like characters from a movie.
“How did you get here? Did you lose her?” Lucia immediately turned to question.

After changing, she noticed Francis‘ absence. He was usually in the house.
Pinching her son’s cheek, Samantha spoke softly, “Where did Uncle Francis go?”
“Uncle Francis said he was taking me out to dinner at six,” Nathan replied, rubbing his cheek.
His actions amused Samantha, and she casually inquired about Nathan’s school.
Since returning from abroad, Nathan had been unaccustomed to kindergarten. Fortunately, the kindergarten Francis had chosen seemed to have excellent conditions.
Nathan told many stories about school. Samantha listened to those stories as she rarely had the free time to.
Time flew by, and when Francis returned, Samantha found herself chasing Nathan around the living room.
It was a stark contrast to her calm demeanor outside.
“Welcome back.”
Samantha, dressed in casual home attire, flashed Francis a smile. Even Nathan
grinned and waved at Francis.
Francis’s somewhat tense expression relaxed, and he chuckled.
“Have you eaten?”
“Nope! Mommy said we have to wait for you to take us out for dinner.” Nathan tried
his best to speak before Samantha could.
His chubby face blushed slightly from the excitement.
Francis paused. “Aren’t you afraid he’ll find out?”
“You’ve been going in and out the house openly, too. How wouldn’t he know?”
Samantha shrugged.
Before returning to Kendrick’s side, she had made ample preparations..

Whether it was appearing as Nathan’s foster mother or being the owner of this property linked to Francis, everything was part of her planned strategy.
When Kendrick wanted to know about something, the relevant information would be delivered to him within minutes.

Francis mostly supported Samantha’s ideas.
When they arrived at the restaurant, Samantha teased, “Is this also part of your assets?”
It started as a joke, but Francis hesitated for a moment and nodded.
Nathan was amazed by the upscale restaurant. He opened his mouth wide and praised Francis loudly. It attracted the attention of onlookers.
“Uncle Francis is amazing indeed.”
Samantha pinched Nathan’s nose. Nathan nodded as he rubbed his nose.
“Well, since I’m so impressive, how about you consider being my son?” Francis grinned. He proudly touched Nathan’s nose and used his other hand to ruffle Nathan’s hair.
Francis looked up at Samantha as his eyes held a complex mix of emotions.
Nathan happily moved closer, encouraging Francis to give him a loving hug.
Samantha, however, averted her gaze. She feigned composure as she avoided looking at Francis.
Instead, she pretended to be absorbed in examining the restaurant’s decor. She
didn’t know if his remark was a joke or not.
Undeterred, Francis continued to walk into the restaurant while holding Nathan.
Samantha followed, pretending she hadn’t heard anything.

Kendrick was fixated on the picture of a man and a woman.
The striking burgundy hair and familiar features left no doubt–the person was Francis, the organizer of the previous banquet.
What caught Kendrick’s attention even more was the little child. He was about three years old and radiated joy as he stood harmoniously between the man and woman.
“She’s married?” Kendrick’s face darkened.
“Not at all. However, our initial investigation focused on her financial transactions and her resume from four years ago.
“If you need more details, I can look into it right away,” Jude replied in confusion.
He hadn’t expected someone as formidable as Sophia to be associated with someone like Francis.
Kendrick remembered the little incident at the banquet. Perhaps Francis had orchestrated it deliberately to steal her away.
He snorted, realizing that this woman might be connected to Francis after all.
