The Chase

34 Goblins woke up at about the same time as each other and they were all hungover to hell. There was a pounding in their heads, some of them could taste their own vomit in their mouths, their collective throats felt like they were made of sandpaper and it hurt to even move. But...move they did when Raag starting yelling at the top of his voice....

“Wake up yoo bunch ov haff wits, we got a Wizard to catch”

Raag remembered the direction he heard Odarin say ‘goodnight’ to him from the previous night so he lead the way into the forest to try and pick up his scent only to find that Odarin had doubled back and by now was a good 8 hours ahead of him heading toward The Corgus Bluff Mountain Range.

Odarin had climbed this bluff several times over his life time and was very familiar with it. Raag on the other hand was not. This was going go be an interesting chase for both sides. Raag wasn’t hung over like the rest of his followers and Odarin was so tired from walking all night away from immanent death, he had to rest and sleep.

In order to infuriate Raag even more than he had already Odarin left little notes wrapped in green ribbon along the path he took for escape and for Raag to find, as if to throw some salt in an open and festering wound. Goblins struggled in sunlight so Raag and his team stuck to the edges of the forest in the shadows and upon finding the notes from Odarin realised he had done the same thing thing, only much quicker and had an almost full days walk ahead of the Goblins following him.

When Raag found each note he screwed it up into a little ball and screamed at the top of his lungs frightening birds from their nests and making squirrels run for cover in fear.

As Odarin slept Raag and his followers caught up to him and by now were only an hour away from where he was sleeping at the foot of The Corgus Bluff Mountain Range. When Odarin awoke he made all signs of him being there vanish with his wand and he put his much beloved staff into his back pack and began to climb the Bluff Mountain face like a seasoned professional. Odarin was half way up when he heard below him a familiar scream.....

“We got yoo now yoo Wizard barstard...yoo arr all mine now so get redy ta die”

Now climbing a rock face in a Wizards robes was indeed a tough ask at the best of times but Odarin knew the Bluff Mountain face like the back of his hand but hearing Raags voice made him falter a little. As his right knee come up to take purchase on a rock his knee hit something in his robes and dislodged it from his pocket and he watched as his favourite razor plummeted down the mountain face. He had that razor for years but in the last 30 years never used it. Once he gained his momentum again he continued up the face of the mountain at a quicker pace while is beautiful hand crafted razor cracked itself open on a rock as it fell and landed in amongst Raags Goblins slicing one of the culprits ears clean off.

Odarin heard the howls and screams beneath him from the Goblin who lost his ear as he climbed and under his breath he said quietly...“...serves the green bugger right”

“Yoo arr soooo gonna pay far dat lil indiscretion Wizard...we arr coming for ya now” and Raag and his Goblin climbers quickened their attempts to get closer to Odarin who was almost at the top of the Bluff.

Odarin did have a plan but he had never wished harm on anyone in his Wizarding life...except for now. He knew these Goblins were cruel little green blighters and they would have his head on a stick if he wasn’t careful so he left another little note on the mould ridden rock face for Raag to find wrapped in green ribbon. It read....

Dearest Raag, thank you for making my last two days and one night a great deal of fun but if you insist on following me any further I fear for your safety and the safety of your companions to so kindly climb down and lets let bygones be bygones ok Sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ FindNøvᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

A blood curdling scream of hatred told Odarin that Raag had read the note and from the distance of the scream he gauged that Raag was making up for lost ground closely behind him. So as Odarin just came to the surface of The Bluff he conjured up his comfy chair and took in the view for a spell to get his breath back and set a trap for Raag and how ever many of his group were left because he did hear some of the fall to their doom as a result of hurrying up the mountain at Raag’s continual screaming for more speed with the climbing.

Odarin knew that Raag could some magic when pressed but it was no where as powerful and clever as what he could do so he reached for his wand waving it here and there and began setting up his trap for Raag...if he made it to the top of The Bluff.

He didn’t have to wait long.
