Chapter 5- I Will Fight For You

Sabrina’s POV

I grew up being taught about sacred law. A law that forbids me to seek love outside the love fated to me.

Taught to respect it.

Taught to uphold it and teach it to my children as well.

I know of a mate. I know how it feels to be mated, to be so overly consumed with love that you see nothing else. You dream of nothing else but of the love your soul longs for. Distance is the weapon to kill the heart and a wolf's cry is a painful sight. To be told I am only mated to Aiden for reasons political... leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

"I think this will be interesting..." Josey says to me.

"Don't I get a say in all of this?" Aiden asks, looking at me for all the answers but I was blank. Still trying to process what was said to me and the woman leaving before I could come up with the questions needed to better challenge their decision which affects my life.

"First, I need to deal with Xander refusing my gift," I say, turning to face Xander who looked alarmed by my words.

"Why would you refuse the gift I chose to give to you? You are aware that the fact that you are of the earth, the fact that you belong to that side and your being here does not change the fact that you will age just as the world intended while I remain young for the longest time? How will you explain to your people that your gray hairs were sudden and not because you spent 12 years in the heavenly realm when you took the day off?" I ask and Josey snickers.

"Sabrina..." He tries to answer me but I shake my head no.

"If you want to be with me, stay with me then you don't have a choice in the matter. Your life is in danger from the people of this realm if you are seen with me and even then, anything can happen to you and I have decided to stop bringing people back to life. This goes to all of you in this very room. I will not be bringing anyone back to life unless your name starts with an A and ends with an S, I am done fighting fate on this.” I say, turning to face my family, staring a little longer at Anthony.

"Well, that's okay. We have to look after our loved ones, as intended.” Anthony says back to me and I chuckle.

"If I remember correctly, my entire family expected me to bring your lover back from the dead and after I did that, not one of you came to offer words of comfort as I sat wondering who I was to lose for saving someone that was not mine to save. I remember saving Josey's twins only for her to end up with this vampire parasite! All I know is that I do things for a bunch of ungrateful people that I have known only for a short time and frankly, Josey deserved that save... at least then her wolf brought her back and I cannot say the same for my father or mother and not even my twin. Where is that twin connection when you need it? I fight for my loved ones daily so excuse me for trying to ease the threats around me by protecting the one person who stands by me every time trouble knocks on my door. So I am sorry, not sorry Xander, you will be immortal because I will it." I say before turning to face Aiden.

"And you..." I say before grabbing him by his hair, having to stand on my toes to reach his hair and I pull him down. Throwing him on a chair, he finds his balance...

"To be honest, I had no idea the moon goddesses that came before me would come to such a decision and I am honestly appalled by it. I feel a change inside of me but I understand how it is not a change that was made to me but to you. The love you held for me is long gone... erased by those that held you, hostage, for growth which I am yet to see. I still love you and I find it a little strange that I have to live on loving you when you won't ever return it. The mark on my neck remains because they will it, maybe the love you had for me was warped into respect and care for me, which I will thank them for because you were lacking in that department with all the decisions you made before I sent you off.” I say.

"You have hurt more than you can imagine and sometimes I would lay in bed to question what kind of test this was, to feel so much pain for a man that was meant to care for me. I get that you would want to have a say on this matter as this is your life and all but you are only part of this family because of me and I guess what I am trying to say is, no. You don't get a say on this matter but I will get to talk to the women that changed my life without telling me. If I am to continue to be mated to you, I will not have you be manipulated to suit their needs. If anything, I would rather have them cancel our connection completely so that I can be with Xander, my heart his and his alone.” I say, shocking Aiden and by the sound of loud gasps heard, I shocked a few people in this room too.
