Chapter 12 

ETHAN 

Beth and I were welcomed by the elders of the pack and I watched them do their thing while my only concern was focused on Beth. I watched how she attended to the people, and how she embraced a little girl who came to see her. I could see hope in the eyes of the people and I knew Beth was indeed a glorious woman. 

Despite how everyone had contributed one way or the other to her pain, she didn’t take her anger out on them. Heck, I didn’t even think she was angry. She has a forgiving heart, and that is a good quality for my Luna, except I will teach her to be a fearless and fierce woman when the time comes. 

Andrew walked inside the hall cautiously, and I immediately knew that something was up. waited for him to get to my side when he whispered into my ear. 

“I think Beth might be in trouble,” he whispered and I waited patiently for him to continue. even though my stomach was about to explode with anger. These people can handle my wrath, even though they are obviously begging for it. 

Andrew took my silence as his cue to continue and he leaned closer to me. “I overheard the woman who faked her pregnancy to their Alpha, talking to someone else, but I couldn’t see her face. They were planning on how to get rid of Beth because according to them, she doesn’t deserve to be sitting with you or Alpha Darren.” 

So, they are envious of her. I smirked at the realization. That is what differentiates them from her and above all, that is why they could never be her. Beth would never be angry at a fellow woman for doing better than her, instead, she would look for a way to help her soar. higher.

“Beth, please save our children! Beth, please save our children!” I watched them with a boiling rage. They wanted her to save their children but they won’t accord her the respect she deserves. They won’t even welcome her properly, they just want to use her and I will make sure to get rid of the pack before that happens. 

I thought of ways to punish them and have them on their knees looking up to Beth as they begged for their lives. Beth would look at me every now and then, but all I could think of was how to punish these people in the cruellest way anyone could ever think of 

DARREN 

After dealing with the people who were trying to force Beth to save their children right at that moment, I was finally able to send them off and asked the maids to prepare a room for her and Ethan. I was more than angry to have that asshole in my house. On top of that, I had to treat him like the most important person in the pack.. 

This is not the time to worry about that. I nodded to myself and reminded myself that I have all the time in the world to get my revenge on him, but for now, I need to worry about my people. 

“Alpha,” Mark called out as he opened the door slightly to see if I was in the room. 

“Come in,” I answered and he opened the door wider. “What is going on?” I asked, sensing the urgency in his demeanour. 

“It’s Cara. She’s planning how to get rid of Beth and from what I heard, she planned on doing it tonight.” I clenched my fist upon hearing the news and wondered if that bitch was sent after me. It was enough that we have to go through all these troubles because of her,

 and now, she planned on killing Beth who the  Lycan King is obsessed with.

“I am not planning anything!” She yelled, cutting me off. 

“I know you don’t believe me but it is the truth. I have no reason to deceive. you. I would do anything to gain your trust back so lying right now would be a very stupid thing to do,” she hissed and I groaned. How can she be this bold when she is obviously lying? 

“Mark, do we have an eyewitness?” I asked and he nodded as if he was prepared for this too. 

“Come in,” he yelled, and a young maid cane inside with her head fixed on the ground.. 

“Tell me what you heard,” I ordered. 

“I was on my to call a fellow maid, when I overheard Cara speaking to another woman. She mentioned how she should be the one standing next to you and the Lycan king, not Beth, sir. I thought it was mere jealousy but before I left, she said she would get rid of her.” 

“Bitch! When did I say that?” She grabbed the maid’s hair to hit her, but Mark stopped her before she could hit the girl. 

“You may leave,” I broke the silence and she rushed out of the room. “For how long do you plan on lying to me, Cara?” I sucked in a deep breath and she went on her knees as he began 

to cry. 

“I’m sorry, 

it was all Laura’s idea! Laura was the one who said she couldn’t stand her. I only agreed to help out with her plan. I swear, Laura was the woman I was speaking to.” She cried and I shook my 

head. 

“Don’t you dare bring my sister into this,” I warned. 

“You can ask her yourself,” she shivered out of fear. “Laura is not innocent on this one too,” 

she cried. 

“Well then, I shall punish Laura but you won’t get away with this too.” I turned my attention to Mark and Cara began to plead. 

“Please, for old time’s sake, forgive me just this once, I swear, I promise to take a new leave.” She rubbed her hands together, beginning desperately but I was done pardoning her. 

“You are a witch! A goddamn liar and a fool. How long do you think I will continue to fall for your trick? You won’t get away with this, I promise.” I turned to Mark as I gave my verdict.
