“You’re such an ingrate!” Darren suddenly accused me and my mouth tried to form words but no sounds came out.

“You dare to lay hands on my woman? My woman and my child after everything I have ever done for you. After I’ve given you a life you now clearly didn’t deserve,” he spat some more.

“I picked you up, I cleaned you up and made you and this is how you repay me!” he thundered and my body shook with fright as he stretched a finger pointedly at my face.

“I… I didn’t,” I tried to say but his hands stretched in front of my face to shut me up.

“Enough!” He shouted, his voice raised at me and I flinched.

“When I picked you up and made you stand, I didn’t know you learned how to bite and cause problems. You are a pathetic low life with nothing to her name, you are the scum of the earth and a thorn in my flesh. You disgust me, you evil wench. To think you can plan to murder something so precious, you are nothing but the spawn of the devil himself and I regret treating you kindly.” He spat and my body went limp, sapped of whatever life I had, of whatever energy I used to possess.

“Aren’t you tired of pretending to be weak? To gain my attention and many others? Aren’t you tired of trying to be what you’re not? You disgust me. Trailing me to the hospital just to seek my audience, it’s sick and you need to see someone about that,” He said, walking away and my body went rigid.

“I should have slapped some reality into you, I guess I’ll be doing that more,” she said and raised her hand to deliver the blow my eyes closed for impact but the slap never came.

I opened my eyes, wide and clear as my eyes gradually widened at the scene that played before me.

He had just threatened her life but she was trying to seduce him.

“I didn’t want to hit her, just wanted to see if her pillows were okay and how long she would be staying with us at the clinic,” she said and my mouth hung open.

She lies too? I asked myself.

Just when I was getting used to the idea that a repeat of Darren and Cara was going to happen, men in red rushed into the room and quickly gave a salute.

“Take her,” he ordered slowly and confusion sufficed.

Before I could grasp the situation, the men in green held both sides of Laura’s arm and began to walk away with her.
