Chapter 25

Jaxon's POV

"Mom, it's been two weeks since she disappeared. I'm losing it." I say, throwing my whole body weight on the couch in my mother's office.

I've been a wreck.

I hid it well but I'm a wreck. I need to see Hailey, smell her but even the dorm room she slept in was cleaned so well that all I can smell is heavy cleaning products. Probably to cover up her scent, as if she was never there but she was. I know it.

"I'm sorry son. There's nothing I can do right now. If she was one of us, one of our own, I'd have a search party looking everywhere for her. All we can do now is let the police do their job." My mom tells me.

"There must be something I can do." I say.

"You can take your friends and go sniffing around. Hopefully some part of her calls out to you, but don't hold out hope.” She says.

I sit up, trying to understand my mother's words.

"What do you mean?" I ask her.

"I mean, this is wolf territory. If she is out there on her own, I doubt she's even alive right now." I hear her say.

"I would feel it. I would've felt it." I say

"Honey, you need to mark her to be connected to her and you didn't get there.” She says.

"I was just trying to get her to trust me! What was I supposed to do? Just introduce myself and then bite her neck?" I ask out of frustration and guilt.

If I had marked her, nobody here would've touched her. She would have had my scent all over her and that would've kept her safe, at least from the wolves in pack.

I have zero control over the lone wolves that live outside our territory. They have been exiled for whatever reason and forced to live on their own, finding ways to survive. They generally wouldn't get in to much trouble for killing a human but Hailey isn't just some human.

She's my mate.

"I know that. I know you didn’t want to scare her away but there's just some things that are beyond our control.” She tries to calm me down but my wolf won't calm down.

"That's it. I'm taking my friends and we are searching the pack lands and border until we find something.” I say as I get to my feet.

"That won't be necessary son." My father says, walking in followed by Theodore, Hailey's biological father.

I sit back down.

I look over to Theodore, he looked calm and collected which would mean Hailey is alive and well "Hailey is not human.” Theo starts to say.

I knew that already.

"She shifted in to a werewolf two weeks ago. I have taken the two weeks to train her and teach her our ways so she can be better equipped for this world. I would take her back to my pack but she insists on finishing her final year of school here so I'm asking you to allow her to finish her studies and we will be gone after that. I promise not to start any troubles.” Theo tells us.

She shifted! This is great news right?

I smile, relief flowing through my veins at the thought of my mate in wolf form. She was indeed safe. She was alive.

"I'm sorry. If she is your daughter that means she's of your pack, we can't allow her to stay here." My dad tells Theo.

My smile quickly fades and Theo throws me a look before opening his mouth

"Hailey, come on in." He says and I look to the door to see the most beautiful woman in the world walk in gracefully.

Her hair bouncing as she walks, a little golden and shiny through the sun's rays. She was dressed in all black with black high heels.

I did not know this Hailey. She looked different.

She has make up on, red lipstick. She looked to have gained some muscle too

"Good day everyone." Hailey says and my smile returns, the fire in me returns as my wolf howls with joy inside me.

"My daughter can't leave this pack.” Theo tells my father but I'm still looking at Hailey, who's also looking at me.

She's smiling back at me.

"And why is that?" Father asks.

"She can't leave because your son Jaxon, is her mate.” Theo says and I look away from Hailey to my dad.

"Impossible! There is no way!" My dad refuses.

My mom's eyes plead with me to jump in and I do.

"It's true dad. She is my mate and I was scared that she'd shift and we wouldn't be mates anymore but for some crazy reason, I still feel the same way I felt about her when we met on her first day of school here." I confess.

My father's hands ball in to fists.

"This is the girl you found? A wolf? And you didn't think I'd need to know that she's a werewolf?" My dad asks, his face getting red from his anger.

"How could I tell you? I knew the minute I told you, you'd send her off and get the next human girl to mate with me so she can give me the next alpha. I wanted to spend some time with her, get to know her and I haven't even done a good job of that too. I messed up, messed things up a great deal and missed the biggest milestone of her life because I'm the biggest asshole! So I'm not sorry I didn't tell you. I would do it again.. I would hide her from you again so I could be with her.” I say before standing up and walking towards my mate.

I grab her hand and thr electrical sparks tingle their way up my hand and to my heart. She looks at me, alarmed and confused at the intense feeling.

She now felt what I felt everytime I was with her. Every time we touched.

"I missed your birthday." I say.

"I know. I missed you too." Hailey says to me. Turning to face my parents, Hailey straightens her posture and looks them in the eyes.. my alpha born mate.

"Mr and Mrs Gellar, I'm no ordinary werewolf. Yes, my dad is alpha which means I carry the alpha gene in me but that is not all." Hailey says.

"What else is there?" My dad asks sarcastically. My mom punches him on the arm to get him to act better.

"My daughter, Hailey is the one we have all been waiting for.” Theo tells us. Now, I was even more confused.

"The moon goddess came to me a few days after my first shift. She told me of the new world that starts with me and your son." Hailey says, grabbing my hand and holding on to it a little to tight. "She called me, Selenian.” Hailey tells us and my mom gasps, her eyes bulged out.

"Impossible!" My dad shouts but Hailey is not discouraged by this. She just simply smiles, and pulls down her shirt to reveal a crescent shaped moon on her collarbone.

"You know what this means...” Theo tells my dad, who for the first time in my life, is left speechless. What is a selenian?
