Oops, I’ve Been Exposed
Chapter 26 by Lorelei Thunder

Shane picked up his phone to make the call. “Hello, Mr. Jett, I need to borrow some money. It’s an emergency. I need the money before noon. Is that possible?”

“How much do you need?” the man asked.

Shane thought for a while and said, “70 thousand dollars.”

“No problem. Since you’re a returning customer, you know the rules. You’ll get 90% of that amount, and you’ll have to pay 130% of that amount in full. Come over now and sign the contract. You’ll get the money right after you sign.”

Shane nodded. “No problem. Thanks, Mr. Jett. I’ll head over now.”

Trudy and Dickson had sly expressions on their faces. They were delighted.

“We’ll go with you. Have him deposit the money straight into my account. Your house is too smelly. I can’t stay here for a moment longer. I won’t wait here for you.”

Trudy wanted to do that because she was afraid that something might derail her plans.

Since Shane was the one signing the contract, the debt would have nothing to do with her. Shane agreed without a second thought. He told Mandy, “Wait here at home. I’ll be back soon.”

“Okay. Stay safe,” Mandy reminded.

Shane turned and left. He couldn’t help but feel excited knowing that Woody would be back soon. He was shocked when he got to the gate.

He couldn’t believe what he saw. After all, he had Alzheimer’s disease. His memory was deteriorating, and he would sometimes fall into a trance.

“You … Woody! Am I hallucinating? Honey, come over and take a look.”

Shane rubbed his eyes, but the person before him didn’t disappear. So, he quickly called Mandy over.

Dickson and Trudy were taken aback. They had complicated expressions on their faces.

When did Woody show up? They were so focused on trying to scam Shane that they didn’t notice that there was another person at the door.

Judging from Woody’s furious expression, they could tell that he had been there for some time.

Mandy slowly walked over. Her spine and legs were damaged due to long periods of bending over and picking up trash, paired with the reluctance to seek treatment.

Mandy yelled in surprise as her eyes widened. “How are you back, Woody? Shane said it would be another six months. Did you … break out of jail?”

Shane’s face paled when he heard that. He looked like he was about to fall over. Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the FɪndNøvel.ɴᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

It would be troublesome if he really broke out of jail.

Woody smiled at them. “Uncle Evans, Aunt Mindy, you might have forgotten. Today is the day I get out of jail.”

“Really? That’s impossible. I remember that it should be in six months…”

Shane quickly took out a notebook from his pocket and flipped it open. The shock and suspicion on his face were quickly replaced by shame.

“Oh! I really made a mistake. I wrote the wrong date here, and everything that followed it was wrong as well.”

Then, he said excitedly to Mindy, “He’s right. It’s today. Today’s the day!”

Although Mindy wasn’t well-educated, she wasn’t dumb. She realized something was wrong.

She turned toward Dickson and Trudy. Then, she asked, “Why did you come asking for money when Woody has already been released?”

They avoided eye contact and remained silent.

Woody said coldly, “They’re here to scam you of your money!”

Shane finally understood. He glared at them and asked, “Why? We’re your in- laws. We’re family. Why did you try to scam me?”

Truthfully, Woody wouldn’t have believed that the Yorks would something so despicable a few hours ago.
