Chapter 26

It has been a week from the time VK got sick, after my scandal at work I didn’t have the courage to go back so I tendered in my resignation even though I don’t know where to start with my life right now.

I take in a deep breath as I get out of bed, yes resting is importing for one hit rest doesn’t feel as good when you don’t know where your next rent money is going to come from. I have been deliberately avoiding dad because I don’t have the heart to face him right now when I know all the things that are being hidden from him.

Finally getting out of bed, I take a quick bath and dress up into a floral shirt dress with slippers. I don’t even bother with makeup because I just want to make sure that VK is okay.

I drive there and in an hour I am there, I am not shocked to find a number of cars because his ex wife and children have been constantly coming here to see him.

I walk into the house and find him seated in the living room talking to Samara, Nelson and Vaughn are sitted in one chair with locked fingers.

Samara rolls her eyes immediately I enter the house but I don’t mind her because she is not my business right now.

‘Hey you.’ I say going to kiss VK on the cheek, he pulls me close and kisses me on the lips. I hear a chuckle, probably coming from Samara or Vaughn.

‘I missed you.’ He says and I can see the honesty in his eyes

‘I missed you.’ I respond with a smile

‘Honestly I don’t understand what this mess is about, how can a small girl like you not be ashamed to be sleeping with a man as old as your father?’

I walk to the kitchen to get started with his food, he had told me yesterday that he missed eating trotters with beans and thanks to the pressure cooker in his house these things will be ready in a few hours. I have just washed the trotters when Nelson walks into the kitchen.

‘I never imagined you would be like one of those women.’

‘What women?’ I ask even though this story is even boring before it can go anywhere far

I chuckle, I shouldn’t be doing that but it’s shocking that he has the audacity to have this conversation with me.

‘You know Sweka, I didn’t know that you could lower your standards like this. I didn’t know that you could become this gullible, I understand VK has money but did you have to get back at me like this?’

I take time to look at him, and for the first time in months I see him for who he really is.

‘What makes you think that I am with VK because I want to get back at you? Why do you even want to make yourself feel special because truth is this is not about you.’

‘Then what is it about? You can’t possibly be in love with him, can you?’

‘For your own information I am in love with him. I am in love with the man that he is but this is something that you would never understand because you couldn’t be half the man that he is even if you tried.’

‘What, he is better than me in bed?’

‘I don’t think you want to go there Nelson.’ I say pressing some buttons on the pressure cooker and starting it

He looks at me like he has a lot on his mind but doesn’t say it.

I go back to the living room without saying another word to him, honestly he is tiring and being married to Vaughn should get him out of my business but he looks determined to try and ruin my life at whatever chance he gets.

Samara and Vaughn look like they have been kicked out of the house when I get to the living room, they look at me in an angry way but VK has no emotions written on his face.

‘Babe we need to go.’ Vaughn says to Nelson

I can tell that he doesn’t want to leave but at this point there is nothing much he can do about it.

‘What have you done?’ I ask

‘Something that I needed to do, it was necessary for me to put those two in their place.’

‘But they are your family VK.’

‘And you are my woman.’ He says not once removing his eyes from mine

I just sigh hard

‘How are you feeling though?’

‘I think I am okay, the doctor says I am good to give you some orgasms.’

I laugh, that is the last thing I expected to hear from him.

‘I am glad you are feeling better babe, I was worried.’

‘I am fine now babe.’ He says kissing my forehead

‘And I am happy that you are fine.’ I say kissing his lips, we kiss for a few minutes before he pulls me away

‘When are you swallowing your pride and taking your job back?’

‘Babe I don’t want people thinking I only have it because I slept with you.’

‘Well you had it before me and I don’t think you have any good or genuine reason to lose it now.’

‘I sent in my resignation letter.’

‘Then work for me.’

‘Work for me.’

‘VK that is a little extreme, I can’t work directly for you.’

‘Okay draw up a business plan and I will finance it, I will get my share as the investor but one thing you won’t do is be jobless.’

‘I will come up with something.’

‘For now I am putting you on an allowance.’

‘VK.’

‘You are my woman, no two ways about it.’

I know there is no way I am arguing with that so I just kiss his lips
