65. Take a Deep Breath

So I’m sitting in this room waiting for some miracle to happen and the most beautiful woman I’d ever laid my eyes on, besides my mom of course, to appear. My nerves are off the chain and I have no clue what I’m waiting for. “So uhm, why are we in a dojo lookin place?” I needed to make conversation, desperately.

“This is where Elena and Aran train with Alke. When they come in here, she shows up to help them train. So, this seems the best way for the two of you to be able to meet and her to not run away.” Dad scratched his head. “I’m not sure why she’s running from you. I don’t think she ever thought Adalith would pair her with anyone and probably came as a shock. But the runnin part, don’t make sense to me.” His tone was softer than I expected it would be. I always thought he was gruff and grumpy. I would be if I had to be in a forge all day.

“Okay… so we just wait for Aran to show up and she’ll show up?” This concept was intriguing. It was like being able to have the summons of a god, but not be an actual summoner.

“Yep, pretty much. Until then, feel like sparring?” He grinned at me, and I felt this was gonna be a butt whoopin in the making.

“Okay lets do this. Am I able to use anything here?” I looked around at all the weapons. They all seemed to be hand crafted.

“Yep, I’ve made them all. Whatever calls to you, go a head and use.” He watched me carefully as I started to roam around the room.

I walk around the room, eyes closed, feeling the energy of the room. I didn’t realize Aran had entered the room already and called for Alke. So here my dumb self is walking around the room, feeling for energy that calls to me, eyes closed tightly, and I walk smack into a body that’s just slightly smaller than mine, breathing in the most amazing smell of what can only be described as sexy courage in auromatic form. Don’t ask, I’m doing my best here. I opened my eyes, looking down into the deepest, most thoughtful eyes I had ever had the grace of drinking in.

“Hi….” I barely got the word out. She was looking at me like she was pissed and going to bring the fury of the cosmos down on our heads.

“Hep, what is the meaning of this? Aran, are you wanting training or was this to get me here to do something I’m not quite ready to do yet?” She tore her eyes from me and my heart almost broke on the spot. She doesn’t want me. That was the only thought that flooded my mind. Tears were threatening to break free as I dropped to my knees. I closed my eyes tight to keep them from escaping.

“Alke, are you dense or something? Something you’re not quite ready for? Do you know how old that boy is? How long he’s been around? Not ready for? You had to feel when he was born. He’s a demigod. So if you’re not ready to meet him, what is it you’re not ready for? The relationship or to reject him?” My dad’s words cut through me like the sharpest blade he’d ever made would cut through mortal flesh.

I heard her heart stop momentarily, her breath hitch, and her tone changed. “It is not your place to force me to face him right now. I am not rejecting him. You have no idea what is going on or what is in my head or heart. Don’t get overprotective now that you realize you’re a daddy.” Her tone was starting to harden, and I looked up at her, slowly opening my eyes.

“Then why don’t you want to know me? Why don’t you want to be near me?” My voice broke like a teenage boy experiencing his first testosterone rush. This was breaking me, slowly but surely.

“I’m not meant for love. I’m not meant to love or be loved. I’ve been a bargaining chip for Zeus’s for so long, I’m sure he won’t let a bond come between himself and his goals. Only reason he hasn’t interfered here is because Adalith would smite him on the spot. I need to make sure he doesn’t ruin our bond just like Aphrodite ruined Hep and Elena’s bond so long ago. You can understand that yes?” Her eyes were soft as she looked at me and knelt down in front of me, her hands cupping my face. “I wanted to tell you this in private but I guess your father and uncle don’t know the meaning of letting grown adults handle things themselves.”

I looked into her beautiful orbs, she was so perfect. Her words barely registering. My arms moved around her, pulling her into me, breathing her essence in, “They brought me here to make my search shorter. I was about to scour the cosmos for where you went.” I couldn’t help but want to be close to her, ’I’m not going to devour you like a horny teenager that cannot control themselves. I never thought I would find anyone that could catch my attention. Many have tried.” Her breathing was uneven and she seemed so unsure of herself. “I can wait for you, but only if I know that you are mine and will be only mine.” Slowly, I moved in to kiss her perfect lips. I didn’t want to scare her, but I couldn’t let her go without one. My mortal wolf/dragon/vamp posessiveness wouldn’t let me. Our lips met and the rest of the world ceased to exist. It wasn’t anything obscene or overly sexual, but it was everything. I felt her melt into my arms, seeming like a kiss is all it might take for her to come completely undone. “Let me share your burdens.” The whisper barely audible, as she deepened the kiss. There was no way I was going to deny her, pulling her into me closer, allowing her to take over and set the pace, realizing this was probably one of the longest first kisses in history. Suddenly, we were no longer in that room, and we were in a tower in what seemed like part of the castle, but I couldn’t be sure it was the same castle.

Finally, our kiss ended, and we both stared at each other with panting breaths. “You do make it quite difficult for me not to devour you like a horny teenager, though.” I grinned at her. Gods this woman was so beautiful. ‘Adalith, you outdid yourself, my friend,’ I thanked the Creator of All in the only way I could at this moment.

“Now for me to explain everything.” Worry shadowed her face and my heart bled for her.

“Lets face it all together.” I laced my fingers with hers and let her lead me to a couch so we could talk. Now I was going to be there for my love. I was going to protect her, Zeus be damned.
