Growing Suspicions

Thomas was surprised that someone knocked on his door in the afternoon when the kids were at school; no one bothered the only cop who lived in the neighborhood. He opened the door to the county sheriff bringing him very shocking news about his ex-wife.

“You’re sure it’s a suicide?” he asked the officer.

“We’re still investigating, but we found a note at her apartment, and we know she has a history of depression,” the officer told him.

Another officer asked, “Did you ever hear her mention any plans to hurt herself; any history of cutting or anything like that?”

“She was shattered over the loss of our baby three years ago…” Thomas said. “But suicide never seemed like something she would have even considered.”

“People do weird things,” the officer said. “Grief affects everyone differently.”
