Psychic Enchantress
25. Trapped then Freed

Mason

Its been two weeks since Xayla’s been in the hospital. I tried my best to visit her everyday but sometimes her doctor refuses since i’m not family.

Chloe, Cynthia and Evan came yesterday and brought her flowers, cards and even a ‘I heart peanut butter’ t shirt. Jake came by as well and brought a huge teddybear. Once in a while Xayla would move her fingers to let us know that she heard us. I was very happy about that. I would sit and talk hours upon hours with her even though she can’t respond but just knowing that she can hear me is satisfactory enough.

The doctors did tons of tests to figure out what’s wrong with her. I remember the exact day he came in and told us the news.

“Well the good news is that she’s perfectly healthy. Her vitals are good, fever is no longer present, her blood pressure is normal, no signs of any tumor in her brain or anything. The only thing we can’t figure out is why she can’t wake up. She could be in a coma but there is no possible reason for her to be” Doctor Campbell explained.

Kalina was standing by the bed where Xayla laid, while I was sitting by her bed side, still holding unto her hand.

“When will she be awake?” Kalina cried.

“We’re still doing research to find any possible reason. We have the best doctors here and they’ll be sure to take care of her.” He reassured but avoided the question.

Kalina noticed that but she didn’t say anything. She just cried.

Today, Kalina told me that Xayla’s grandmother will be coming this afternoon and that she may have a clue as to what’s going on with her.

I waited for Gran in the chair beside the bed impatiently tapping my foot. I heard the door open but it was only Kalina. Then I saw someone behind her walk in. She was petite, gray silvery hair that touched her shoulders and she had green eyes.

She walked straight to Xay’s bedside and held her heart with a pain expression. She turned her attention to me with authority in her posture. She seems like a lady you should respect.

“Tell me exactly what happened. Do not and I repeat, do not leave a single thing out.” She instructed.

I stood up and looked at her and then at Xayla.

“I walked into the classroom and found my seat next to Xayla’s. She had her head on the desk. I asked her what was wrong and she told me she had a killer headache and that my, that Mikaela, a girl who’s sort of a bitch slapped her in her face because of something stupid. I proceeded to bombard her with the questions that I had and she started to rub her temples. I still continued to ask her questions and then she yelled at me to shut up. She screamed again and got up out her seat and froze there. Her face went blank. Its like she was staring at something but nothing was there to look at. Afterwards she closed her eyes shut and opened them as if coming back to ‘reality’ and then she just passed out.” I explained in as much detail as possible leaving the part about Xay cursing.

Gran nodded at me and turned to Kalina next.

“I know exactly what’s going on.” She informed her.

“What is it?” Kalina pushed.

“You sir, how much do you know about my granddaughter here?” She inquired turning to me.

“Umm I know everything ma’am. She told me all about her being Psychic and all and I know her eyes are really purple.” I informed her.

She nodded in response and turned to Kalina.

“She’s started to have visions. They should’ve came a long time ago but I doubt she knows that that’s what happened. That explains the headache she had right before. It happens when a Psychic has their first vision. It seems though she is trapped inside her own mind. That’s why she’s unable to wake up.” She explained.

“So do you know how to wake her?” I asked.

“I know exactly how. I’m a witch you see. So i’m going to go into her mind itself and help her find a way out.” She responded cheerfully

“She can hear you by the way.” I told her, looking down at Xayla.

“I figured as much.” She placed her hand on Xay’s cheek, brushing it slightly.

“Okay so I brought some stuff with me and when I go into her mind, its going seem like i’m not here. Its going to take at least fifteen minutes. Depending on how long it takes for her to learn.” She informed.

“Kalina keep watch. If anyone comes in, just tell them I’m praying with her. Its going to seem like that anyways.” She added once more.

Kaljna stood by the door while I stayed by Xayla’s side.

Gran took two tubes out of the pouch she had, that had in a purple liquid in each of them. She poured one down Xayla’s throat, making sure it went down before drinking the other herself. She sat on the chair beside Xay’s bed and held her hand. She held her own head down and closed her eyes.

It really looked like she was praying. Could’ve fooled even me. I sat and waited impatiently for whatever Gran was doing to work and for Xayla to wake up.

Xayla

Whatever Gran gave me tasted like vomit. It made me want to vomit.

All I saw was the same darkness like before. Nothing new. I heard someone calling my name in the distance. I tried looking for the person but I didn’t see anyone.

“Xayla?” Someone I recognize to be Gran called out.

I saw her coming through a fog and with that fog came a little light. It made things for me a lot better for me. I was getting tired of the darkness. The place I was I recognize to be my favorite park back in Florida. It was filled with so much fog, I could hardly see anything.

Gran came into view clearer and I ran and hugged her.

“Okay honey. Its okay. ” she rubbed my back soothingly.

“Oh Gran.” I cried.

“I’m here to help you. You’re trapped here inside your own mind. ” she informed, still rubbing my back.

I wiped my eyes with a tissue that came out of no where and into my hands.

“That’s it. Whatever you think, comes into being. You thought about needing a tissue, and there you have it in your hand.” She explained.

“Oh well that’s cool, I guess.” I replied unsure.

“Okay so now, first things first. ” she clapped her hands once.

“Clear your mind.” She instructed, calmly.

“How do I do that?” I asked confused.

“Think about, nothingness. Absolutely nothing.” She replied.

I tried what she had said but nothing happened. I still had a ton load on my mind.

“Take a deep breath.” She instructed.

I did as told and closed my eyes.

Think nothing. Absolutely nothing. Empty your thoughts. I whispered in my head.

When I opened my eyes, we were no longer in the park. We were standing in nothing but fog.

“Clear the area of fog.” Gran told me, calmly.

I closed my eyes once more and thought about seeing things clearly. When I opened them we were standing in a room with white walls and no door.

“Okay so you have to create a door to let yourself out. I have to leave soon, the potion is wearing off on me. Just remember, the only thing you need to do, is create a door and walk out and you’ll be free. You’ll wake up. Just try really hard. I’ll see you soon.....” Her body and voice faded away and I was alone.

Gran lifted her head up so quickly I was a bit frightened, sad to say. She sucked in a huge breath and let go of Xay’s hand.

“I told her what to do. Now, we just wait.” She breathed.

I sat there looking at Xay. Looking for any slight movement but I saw nothing.

Kalina went to buy something for us to eat while we sat and waited.

I didn’t really have an appetite so opted for the drink alone.

We sat there around thirty minutes, waiting. The doctor came in and did a check up and left. Kalina started to pace, impatiently.

“I think I should go back and help her again.” Gran sighed, sounding drained.

The minute she said that, Xayla shot up out the bed giving an ear piercing scream. We had to cover our ears in fear that they’ll start to bleed. The doctor came rushing back in and Xayla collapsed back on the bed panting hard with her eyes still closed.

“What just happened?” The doctor questioned looking at the monitor. The monitor had start to beep violently signalling how fast her heart was beating.

“I can’t see” I heard Xayla cried, still panting.

I rushed over to her side and grabbed her hand.

“Xayla, open your eyes.” I whispered.

She slowly opened them and they were wet with tears.

“Mason?” She cried, hugging me tightly.

“I was so scared.” She added.

"You were scared. I thought that I was the only one.” I sighed, squeezing her tight.

“Kalina?” I heard her say and I took that as the queue to let go.

Kalina had been crying that her sister finally woke up. She rushed over and squeezed her.

“Gran?” Xayla called once more.

“I’m here honey.” She gave Xay a kiss on her cheek.

“Welcome back Ms Maguire.” Doctor Campbell.

Xayla smiled at the doctor.

“Do you mind if I ask you some questions? I have to see if everything is okay with your little brain” he added a giggle.

Xayla nodded and the doctor took up the chart board and a pen.

“What’s your full name?” He asked.

“Xayla Isabella Maguire.” She answered.

“Do you remember what happened that led up to you being here in the hospital?” He questioned.

“I had a terrible headache and I fainted.” She stated looking at Gran. I guess she was being sure not to say anything regarding her being Psychic.

“Okay. It seems that you remember everything. The cause behind this incident remains a mystery but it seems your well. However, I can’t allow you to leave the hospital just in case. Only for a day.” He explained.

“Okay” Xayla replied , frowning.

“Okay, i’ll let you be with your family ” he walked out, closing the door.

“Hi” she said smiling, looking at me.

“Hi, my love.” I sighed looking into her eyes. Oh, how I missed them.
