Pyro
Chapter 14

I started the water and let it get to the right temperature. I stepped in and cleaned myself up after a long night of sex.

I could hear them knocking on the door and begging me to open the door, but I wouldn’t do that. I couldn’t go through that again.

Once I was clean, I sank to the bottom of the tub and quietly cried. I wasn’t going to let them hear me cry. After awhile they stopped.

I finished up and exited the bathroom and dressed. sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ (ꜰind)ɴʘvel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“Took you long enough,” Kendra said. “We need to talk.”

“Why?” I asked. “You both think I’m crazy and that I’m lying.”

“Honey, we never said that.”

“But you were thinking it.”

“No, we weren’t,” Jonathon said. “You’re putting words in our mouths and thoughts into our heads.”

“It just caught, me, at least, by surprise.”

“I’m sorry.”

“There’s no need to be sorry, I’m sure that you’ve had a rough go of it. I’m sure that a lot of people who’ve gotten close to you have turned tail and ran away.”

“Quite a lot.”

“Care to tell us about it?”

“Not now.”

“I do have a question,” Kendra asked.

“Okay.”

“Did you see us together?”

I smiled. “Yes. I saw us happily married with a couple of kids. I didn’t know who you were, but I did know what you looked like.”

“Did you come find me and just happen upon the fire?”

“No, my friend Helen had been in. She likes to lunch at the restaurant there. Well, liked, I guess. Anyway, she had noticed you. She’s been my best friend since forever and I’d told her what I’d seen and she’d helped me keep an eye out for you.”

“Okay. So she rushed back here and rushed me over there. She found a way in and said it should also work for the way out as well. It did.”

“Thank you, Helen.”

“That’s what I said.”

“Did you see the fire?”

“No.” I shook my head. “I was told that I wasn’t meant to save her. I was told by another friend with a power similar to mine that I wasn’t supposed to save her. He said that I wasn’t supposed to know about the fire and that it would hurt someone I important to me.”

“So then what happened?”

“Helen. She knew that I wouldn’t be happy unless you were in my life, so when she saw you and then the fire, she made sure you and I got together.”

“Odd.”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean we don’t have a restaurant in the hotel. At least, not anymore, its closed for renovations.”

“That is odd.” I shrugged. “I’m just glad that you’re here and that you’re okay with the whole seeing the future thing.”

“Of course, I love you, Hailey.”

I smiled bigger. “I love you, too, Kendra.”

“Did you see me?” Jonathon asked.

“Nope, but I’m glad you’re in our lives.”

“Me, too.”

“Lesbian sex is hot, but it can get a little boring.”

Kendra laughed. “True enough.”

“Now, you mentioned breakfast. I’m starving.”

“Me, too.”
