Raging Barons MC – Book Three – Silver
Raging Barons – Silver: Chapter 3

-:- MIA -:-

The last three weeks have been tremendously busy, with the club renovations taking top priority. My hands are sore with all the cleaning I’ve done at the club, but to see the locker room, staff kitchen, office and storage area all looking good has me feeling proud of myself.

Silver, Fox and the others have worked just as hard, doing specific areas in teams. Hammer has the club floor down now and it’s looking outstanding, and when the colored lights go on, it is really something to see.

Fox has the woodwork behind the bar looking pretty spectacular. It has a gloss to it now and with the extra glass shelving, the complete area looks pristine. I love the way they set the bottles with dispensers on a low shelf, and the cabinets with the more expensive alcohol showcased.

Silver must be tired, as he is helping everywhere and monitoring the deliveries, kitchen appliances being installed, and seeing to all the paperwork that’s involved.

Only four days and we have the opening night, but before that I have to find four new employees, one for tending the bar and one for serving tables. Then I need a good cook and kitchen help. Thankfully, I have a few names that have been handed to me, so I don’t need to advertise.

Sitting in the office, Silver walks in and plants himself in the easy chair, kicking his feet up on the corner of the desk.

“Are you tired, Silver?”

“Sure am. But we’re nearly at opening night and once we get there, things should calm and get into an easier rhythm. You’ll be finished here too, as you’re not waitressing anymore.” Silver states, running his hands through his hair and linking his fingers behind his head.

“I’m going to schedule appointments now for the extra staff, then I’ll contact Carol, Twig and Sue, giving them the hours they’ll be working. Once that’s done, you can organize all the interviews with me because I sure am not doing them on my own and you’ll have to work with them, so it’ll be good to see who they are.”

“Okay, I’m good with that. I didn’t want to do interviews on my own, but I’m okay with doing them with you, although I’d hoped Fox would step up.” Silver responds, then closes his eyes, and I’m sure he falls asleep as I’m watching him.

Once I’ve finished contacting people, I have Tony Smithers a cook, Fiona Snow a kitchen helper, Eden Hollaway bar or server, and Linda Carter server lined up for interviews tomorrow.

A light snoring has me grinning. I look at Silver and see his jaw has slackened in sleep. He’s not exactly drooling, but I think he will be if he’s left too long.

The door is flung open and Axel walks in, which surprises Silver into waking, jumping up and throwing a punch. Axel ducks down and is missed by a couple of inches. He tackles Silver to the floor and before I know it; they are play fighting and laughing like schoolboys. Tutting at them, I shake my head and walk out of the office, leaving them to whatever they are going to do next.

Entering the new kitchen, I have to smile, as it looks stunning. It will be a pleasure to work in here, I’m sure. The door to the side of the bar has been replaced with a swing door, so anyone carrying trays will use their backs to push through.

I open the ceiling to floor cabinet and see the commercial size supplies that Silver ordered and then shelving on one side has trays, serving baskets, etc, stacked.

I’m happy that I’ve done as much as I can at this point, and after tomorrow’s interviews, I can move on to whatever we are going to do next, and I know what we should be prioritizing.

Axel and Silver walk into the kitchen and he slings his arm over my shoulders, tucking me into his side. “You okay, babe?” sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ (ꜰind)ɴʘvel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“Yeah, I’ve done all I can here now. Just interviews at 10:30 in the morning with Silver and I’m ready to move on to the next project.” I grin when I see the pained look on his face because I know it’s been a hard job getting the club put to rights, but it will be worth it, and pay us back fairly quickly, I’m sure.

“Come on, babe, we got things to do at the clubhouse and I’ve Church tonight so we need to get a move on.” Axel guides me out and we jump on his Harley Electra Glide Ultra, which he purchased to give me as much comfort as he could, and I just love it. Waving at Silver, we head back to the clubhouse.

-:- EDEN -:-

The last three weeks have been a nightmare. No jobs anywhere and I’ve applied for quite a few. The mall staff must know I’m homeless by now because of the number of times I use the restrooms.

I purchased a small camping stove. It’s a single burner and a cylinder cartridge you slot in. It is good enough for one pan which allows me to open cans of soup or stew, even make a hot drink. It’s keeping me going, and that’s all that matters.

Sitting on the hood of my junker drinking a hot coffee, I’m looking at the fields in front of me, and thinking how lovely it all looks when my cell rings and looking down I don’t recognize the number but think what the heck and answer, anyway.

“Hello, is this Eden Hollaway?” a woman’s voice enquires.

“Yes, this is Eden.”

“Oh, hi Eden, I’m Mia. Shar gave me your contact details so you can come in and have an interview for the job at Club Whisky if you’re still interested?”

“Yes, I’m still interested. Thank you for calling.” I stutter out and slide off the hood, placing my mug down, then cross my fingers to promote good luck.

“Can you make it to the club tomorrow at 10:30? You’ll be the first interview.”

“Yes, I can. I’ll be on time. Do I come to the front door or around the back?” I ask, getting myself excited.

“Front door is good. We’re not officially open, but the main door will be unlocked. Just come straight in.”

“Thank you, thank you so much.” I say and feel like I could cry at this point.

“No problem, Eden. I’ll see you in the morning. Bye for now.”

“Bye.” I stare at my cell for a few minutes and a smile slowly spreads across my face. This is the first piece of luck I’ve had in a long time and I just hope and pray it all goes my way tomorrow.

I need to find something clean to wear tomorrow, and the vehicle is tossed upside down at this point. I grin, throw open all the doors, and drag everything out. Sort through what is clean, what needs to go to the laundromat, and what is trash that I can discard when I go into town. Thankfully, they have a couple of dumpsters for public use near the mall that I can use.

After getting everything put back and a clean set of clothes for the morning ready, I open a can of stew and pop it into the pan, onto the stove and sit cross-legged waiting for it to heat through.

Gary Slater saw me at the mall last week, and told me Shirley was looking for me as she wanted me to go home. I know it’s because she has no money for food or anything else but I will not be her cash machine anymore. She can get a job like the rest of us have to, it’s called survival.

After eating my stew straight from the pan, I rinse it out and heat a little water I have stored in used drinking water bottles and have a wash the best I can.

Locking up the vehicle, I settle down and send a prayer to whoever may hear it that I have a change of luck tomorrow, and get the job. Then I might get myself somewhere to live, and not be in this vehicle for the foreseeable future.

Waking the next morning with the early morning sun in my face, I look around and sigh. This is no way to live your life, yet at this time I have no option but to carry on as I am. I still have a little money left as I’ve been very careful what I spend and where I spend it.

I’m going to have to put some gas in this bucket of shit today, and that will leave another hole in the small amount I have. Maybe I’ll be able to find somewhere near the club where I can park so I don’t use as much gas each day. I’ll have to have a look today after my interview.

Taking out some wipes, I wash my face, hands, under my arms and privates, then pop on the clean clothes, jeans, t-shirt and a cardigan. They are clean and that’s the best I can do at the moment. I hope they don’t want fancy clothes or the job will not be any good for me at all.

Brushing out my hair, I tie it back into a ponytail, then find a meal bar in the glove box for my breakfast. Once I’ve eaten that, I drink some water, then pack everything up and head out to the mall for my morning visit. After that I’m going to make my way to the club for my interview and hope I won’t be too early. I’ll try to judge the time so I’m only a few minutes before, and that may mean wasting time walking around the mall.
