Rebirth: The Children of Legacy Vol. 2
An Angel's Prayer Answered

A cascade of twinkling lights showered down upon the cherry moon, giving it a breathtaking golden appearance. After the glorious metamorphosis, a solitary winged figure appeared before the heavenly body.

When Jaycee raised her weary head, she found James standing before her. But he was different. James was no longer the young man he once was. He was dressed in radiant white and looked to be no longer a boy, but a man.

“James?” asked Jaycee, shakily getting to her feet. “Is it really you?” She then touched his face. Realizing what she was seeing was real, Jaycee embraced James. “I thought I was never going to see you again.”

“I told you we would see each other again.”

“James, I love you,” exclaimed a sobbing Jaycee. “I love you so much. I’ve loved you since the moment I first saw you.”

“I love you too, Jaycee.” James then released Jaycee and gazed deeply into her shimmering eyes. “I hope you don’t mind,” he said, “but I brought a friend.” S~ᴇaʀᴄh the FɪndNøvel.ɴᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Having appeared from seemingly out of nowhere, Sage was now standing beside Jaycee. Like James, he was no longer in his teenage years. He too had grown into a man and had the same magnificent white clothing and wings as James.

“Sage,” gasped Jaycee, whose sobbing only intensified upon seeing him. “Sage, I’m sorry. I never wanted anything to happen to you.”

“You have no need to apologize,” said Sage, embracing Jaycee. “None of us could have controlled what was going to happen.”

After Sage released her, Jaycee began wiping away her tears. “Where’s Aiko?” she asked, a smile now gracing her face.

Sage was unable to look Jaycee in the eye. “I don’t know,” he said.

“Aiko didn’t come with us,” explained James.

“What?” gasped Jaycee. “No.” She then began shaking her head frantically. “It can’t be. Because of me . . . she didn’t make it.” Jaycee then buried her face in her hands and proceeded to lose control of her emotions. “It’s all my fault!”

“For what reason do you cry, Jaycee?” asked a familiar voice.

Jaycee took her face out of her hands and found Aiko, who had changed like the others. She was now a beautiful woman clothed in stunning white, her sterling wings radiant in the glow of the golden moon.

“Aiko,” said Jaycee, who immediately fell to her knees and embraced Aiko’s legs.

“Jaycee,” said Aiko, assisting her trembling friend to her feet. She then took Jaycee in her arms and kissed her gently on the forehead.

“You’re angels,” said Jaycee. “But how?”

“We always were,” said Sage.

“How else do you think we were able to come back to earth?” asked Aiko. “We were sent back to take James home with us.”

“If not for you,” said Sage, “he wouldn’t have made it.”

“You saved James,” said Aiko.

“I saved him?” asked Jaycee, her gaze connected to James’.

The whole rooftop became saturated in a brilliant golden glow as the Angel of Golden Light appeared behind Jaycee. When Aiko let go of her friend, the angel embraced Jaycee. And when she did, the two became one.

Jaycee, now aged the same as her friends and dressed in spectacular white, floated high into the night sky. The train of her garment extended over fifty feet, while her pristine wings spanned well over a hundred.

James, Sage and Aiko followed Jaycee into the sky.

On the street below, everything came to an immediate halt as people watched a brilliant white light appear in the sky. Even from that distance, its radiance was unparalleled.

An uncountable number of angels appeared in the sky to bear witness to the return of four of their own.

“Welcome home,” said Aiko.

“Welcome home,” said Sage.

“Welcome home,” said James.

Jaycee and the others then flew to the light. Before entering, Jaycee uttered the two words she had for so long waited to say. “I’m home.”
