Chapter 122 

Just as Neil and I were at impasse, a person appeated at the top of the stairs. It was Simmons. Taking in the scene, Simmons quickly trotted down the stairs and landed a punch on Neil’s face.

Ten minutes later, Simmons and I were sitting on the couch in silence. His brows were furrowed the whole time. 

After a long while, he asked, “Have you really decided to be a single mom? Aren’t you going to tell Neil?” 

“I want this baby, but I don’t want to get married “I sighed, “Simmons, can you help me keep this a secret, even from Stella? She’s married to Mitch Hebert now, and I don’t want Neil to find out about this.” 

“No way!” Simmons suddenly got very agitated. He quickly got up, marched to the door, flung it open and stormed out. 

I was taken aback and immediately followed him. 

To my surprise, Neil was still downstairs, leaning against his car and smoking. He hadn’t left. 

Just as I reached the bottom of the stairs, Simmons charged at Neil and landed another punch on him. His rage terrified me. 

“So you enjoy hitting people, huh?!” Neil was also furious. His cigarette had long fallen to the ground. After he finished cursing, he didn’t hesitate to kick

“What gives you the right to hurt her?! Just because she loves you? She’s loved you for ten years, and even after the divorce, you’re still hurting her. You’re shameless” Siminons got kicked, but he didn’t back down. He steadied himself and grabbed Neil’s collar, “I should’ve never given up on her. I should’ve fought for her!” 

Neil shrugged off Simmons’s hand, suppressing his anger. “What’s the point in fighting for her? She wouldn’t choose you. Not then, not now Damn it!” 

I had a splitting headache Two grown men fighting… I didn’t dare to intervene. It wasn’t like before when I could just fall and be fine. I was pregnant now. any accident could be troublesome. 

“Then why didn’t you cherish her? Do you know her -Simmons almost gave up the secret. 

I gathered my courage, ran over and hugged Simmons around his waist, “I don’t love him anymore, I really don’t!” 

As soon as I finished speaking, the atmosphere suddenly fell silent. 

Simmons looked down at me, 

his eyes filled with heartache and anger. Neil, on the other hand, looked surprisingly calm, as if he saw this coming. 

“Nell you better leave now!” I didn’t look at Neil again. 

I heard the sound of Neil getting into his car from behind. He slammed the car door with all his might, as if venting all his anger on that action. 

After a while, Simmons broke the silence, “He’s gone.”

I breathed a sigh of relief and managed a smile, “Great, let’s go back. It’s late and I have work tomorrow” 

I went up the stairs first. 

Tonight’s events were exhausting I thought of Neil’s kiss, the madness and brutality. It felt like I was truly the one he missed. But earlier today, he gave Bonnie a car and let her throw herself into his arms, hugging his waist. 

I got it. He was having trouble accepting that I suddenly didn’t love him anymore and divorced him. So his feelings got blurred. 

He mistook his possessiveness for love.. 

I tried to comfort myself and finally fell asleep in the middle of the night. 

When I got to work the next day, my eyes were super puffy and I was in a bad state Orlando noticed and called me into his office. 

“You didn’t get much sleep last night, huh?” He asked. 

“Yes, I had some stuff to deal with last night, so I went to bed pretty late.” I answered honestly 

Orlando shook his head in resignation, “You should get some rest earlier. I have something to tell you” 

“Linda requested to move to the Marketing department, so I was thinking of handing over some of her tasks in the Development department to you. Are you up for taking her spot? Do you think you can handle it?” 

Linda, or Kate’s position and salary were both a notch higher than mine. 

I was a bit surprised, “Why did she suddenly apply to move to Marketing?” 

“She mainly wants to give online marketing a shot. She’s probably fed up with constantly being out negotiating deals and wants to challenge herself.” Orlando answered. 

But I guessed the real reason Kate wanted to move was probably to get closer to Bonnie, that young girl who looked a lot like her sister
