It was as if Stanley was trying to joke with me as there was no way I could be pregnant. Damien and I took precautions while we had sex, so there was no way I could be carrying his child and I have never slept with another man ever since I found out that he was my mate. 

“What’s so funny?” Stanley asked and I snorted, surprised that he was actually asking me that. 

Stanley, you are the one who is making me laugh. What do you mean I am pregnant? I have been careful while having sex with my mate,” I told him and he let out a sigh. 

Are you on IUD?” He whispered and I shook my head. I never saw the need to since Damien always used protection. I even complained several times about that, not knowing why we still needed to protect ourselves when we were going to get married, but he always said that he wasn’t ready to be a father yet. 

It all made sense to me now. It was that he was not ready to become a father yet, but that he didn’t want to become a father to my baby.

“Of course, he would accept you. The baby is his and he should feel a sense of responsibility towards it,” he argued and I chuckled, shaking my head.

Now, I don’t know him anymore and with the way he looked at me in the hall, he is capable of throwing me into the dungeons and starving me until I lose the baby, “I explained to him and he scoffed. 

“Talk about a useless person. Why were you with him in the first place then? He isn’t worth it. Was it because of 

his status?” he asked and as much as those words annoyed him, I knew I couldn’t blame him for asking. I totally wasted my life, trying to please Damien and I got paid for it in the hardest way possible.

“I was planning on finding a job so I can make money, but now, I have no idea on what to do, “I responded to

“I have a little cottage where you can stay in the meantime before you find a place to stay. You should rest today and think of what you’re going to do from now on,” he offered and I smiled softly. 

Even though I knew it would be polite to refuse his offer since I don’t know if I would be a discomfort to him or not, as I was taught that way by Damien’s mother, but my situation wasn’t going to let me do that. 

I would really appreciate that, “I answered, accepting his suggestion and he grinned widely. I was glad that he was helping me even though he didn’t know who I was. 

We stood up from where we were sitting and after he had paid, we walked out of the restaurant and he led the way while I followed closely behind him. 

After walking for a while, he stopped in front of a small cottage, and I assumed that it must be the house he was talking about. 

He unlocked the door and opened it widely for me to go in first and he followed me, closing the door behind me. 

“I need to go now, I have things to take care of. You can pick any room you want and there are side dishes in the. fridge, if you get hungry, you can microwave it and eat. You should go to sleep, I’ll check up on you tomorrow morning,” he assured me and I thanked him before he left. 

I looked around the house for about thirty minutes, before deciding to pick a room. The house had three bedrooms and it looked as if none of them had been used. 

The house was clean with no speck of dust, like it was frequently cleaned, but it was so obvious that no one had lived in the house before. 

I picked the biggest room among the three and dropped my bag on the bed heading into the bathroom to go. take my bath. 

Minutes later, I was back and I went to the kitchen to go take water, but I ended up taking an apple alongside. I went back to the room and hopped on the bed, sighing loudly.
