Chapter Seventeen: Picnic Date II

“Alright let’s eat” I agreed, letting my concerns lurk around. I dished out two plates and silver wears from the basket and helped myself to the salad and rice and some grilled chicken he had gotten, he soon joined in, smiling at every bite.

“These are good, did you cook this?” I asked, savoring every bite.

“Of course not, I got them from a food truck, they are the best.” Evans replied, “I am horrible in the kitchen.”

“Oh I see, maybe I should show you some skills I have up my sleeves, you’d be a professional once I’m done. I taught Thomas,” I stopped as soon as his name fell out feeling awkward that I had called his name in between our conversation.

“It’s okay if you can talk about him.”  Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the (F)indNƟvᴇl.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“No, I don’t think I should.”

“It’s alright,” He tapped my shoulder.

We had more of the rice till there was no crumb left. Then the icecold smoothie was next, before he opened the bottle of red wine and poured some of it in two wine cups before handing one to me.

“Thank you,” He did not take his eyes off me and missed his lips as he sipped spilling the wine in his

shirt.

“Oh my God, you know you caused this right?”

“No, no, that’s on you,” I giggled watching as he struggled with his shirt.

To quell my laughter, he captured my lips in a searing kiss as I felt his pound of soft flesh on my lips.

“Shh… Don’t say anything.”

“I won’t,”

“You don’t listen do you,” He said softly as he kissed me, we rolled over, entwined in each other’s arms basking in the moment.

“Watching the sunset is one of my favorite views. That’s why I had my office have a good sunset view. I would stare at it every evening with a glass of whiskey before closing for the day.”

“If I can get you the sunset just to see you happy I would,” I looked into his eyes and then looked away. I emptied the bottle into my cup and huddled in his arms feeling so content and watched the sun go down. The wind took charge of the sultry sea as he caressed me, while the clear sky stood still, watching the tumultuous waves on a cool evening. I could only feel the warmth of his arms around me, holding me tightly like he would never let go and we talked about nothing in particular.

Evans moved his hands to his pocket by his side and brought out a beautiful red box.

“Another gift in one day, and I didn’t get you anything.”

I narrowed my eyebrows.

“It’s alright dear, this is just a little of what I have for you,” Evans sald, pinching my cheeks until was compelled to smile. In a blink, I received as my mind wondered what would be the content in box so pretty. Then an even wider smile plastered on my face once I saw the silver necklace with a love shaped pendant lying inside.

“This is so lovely,” I flung to his arms, raining several kisses on him. I turned facing the beach as he put the necklace around my neck.

“Thank you.”

“I hope you love it.”

“Yes, I do, it’s so beautiful.”

Evans caressed my hair as we cuddled on the blanket watching the sky, it was indeed a beautiful evening spiced with priceless moments. The evening went fast and soon it was night. The divers and surfers were leaving. It was time to leave too. We arranged the blanket and basket and headed towards. the car

“Spend the night with me,” He said as we got into the car. His eyes had become a bit teary and his

voice was firm.

As much as I wanted to, I didn’t know if it was right as my feelings were mixed up. But one thing I was sure of was that I had really fallen deeply in love with this guy. “Why?” I asked.

“We had such a great day and I really want you by my side tonight, please don’t say no,” he said.

I wouldn’t dare say no to this bundle of handsomeness. I nodded in affirmation and he pecked me.

His home was a well–ventilated duplex, they entered through the front door into the living room. The living room was well furnished with a glass table in the middle. The floors are made from polished marbles which give it a classy and distinct look. There is an aquarium just at one end of the living room. The dining room was large and would be enough for a family that had more than six people. He clearly did well for himself.

“You stay here alone?”

“Yes, I do, I know it’s a small place that does not meet your standard.‘

“Don’t say that, it’s gorgeous.”

I moved over to a corner and sighted a big transparent glass that was filled with water.

Is that an aquarium?” I asked, pointing at it.

“Yes, that was an aquarium, a home to my beautiful goldfish “Alen” but he died three months ago“.

He said with a bit of sadness in his voice.

Oh, that’s so sad, you must have loved him”

“Yes, I was sad when I lost him but I have you, now don’t I?” He moved closer and pressed his lips on

mine

“Yeah you do.” I replied after I had freed my lips and kept moving around the house.

“I can’t believe you stay here all by yourself, I mean it’s so big and beautiful. What about your family, you don’t seem to talk about them.”

I finally gathered the courage to ask.

“I don’t want to talk about that.”

“Why?”

“It’s not important.

“What do

you

mean?”

“Right now I was expecting we would be cuddled in each other’s arms not talking about what’s clearly not important.”

“Well, like you said, I am homely. I want to know everything about you Evans and that includes your family.”

“Okay fine, Care for a cup of coffee? Maybe we can talk about it over coffee.”

“Yeah sure,” I settled on one of the couches in the living room.

He dashed out from the kitchen with two cups of hot coffee.

“This is for you. Mmm, creamed, you really read me like a book. Thomas used to,” I paused, I had done it again. “I’m sorry,” I said.

“It’s okay, it comes with the separation process. Maybe I should let you heal completely before badging into your life.”

“No, no, it’s fine I’m happy that I met you.”

“I’m even happier that I got to share my time with you. You make everything perfect,” he said.

“Do you mean that?”

“I mean every word I say in this space.”

“Thank you,

“I moved in for a hug. He pulled away after a few seconds kissing me again.

“I love you,” He whispered. I wanted so much to say it back but instead, I kissed him back.
