Chapter 35

After the brave, daring rescue off the cruel, unforgiving mountain, Zander and I deserved some much needed rest.

Of course, what that means is three medium, meat lovers pizzas from Phoenix city’s best pizzeria and the best bottle of champagne my paycheck could afford.

I bounce on the bed with a giggle as he slams his lips on mine.

I run my nails across his back and he fists my hair. He deepens the kiss and I moan into his lips.

He parts dragging his teeth across my bottom lip.

He looks into my eyes and grins. Reaching over to the ice bucket, he pulls out an ice cube. Holding it in his fingers and wiggling it.

My eyes follow the cube to my thigh. He watches between me and the ice.

Running the cube around both my thighs and across the apex of my thighs, I smile as the cold tickles.

He smiles back, biting his lip as he presses it to my core. I arch back as he kisses my neck.

“Who are these people again?” Zander walks with me to the Phoenix unit council room.

“These are Phoenix City council Alphas. When Bastian found the new alliances, some were closer to Phoenix, so they joined us. They’re really great guys, if you can get them to agree on….well anything.” I smile.

I open the doors and the council room is more like a party than a meeting. The Falcon Ridge Alphas all stayed here to meet the new alliance members too. So, you can only imagine how loud it was. Alphas voices boomed as they talked, laughed and ribbed.

The room saw us and erupted in greetings.

Zander actually smiled and waved. He was holding my hand and he kissed my forehead.

I smiled back and led him into the room.

Falcon Ridge Alphas surrounded us.

River smiled. “So, you guys have something to tell us?”

Zander looks at me. “I was a dumbass and almost walked away from my mate.”

“Mate?!” several say.

“I knew it!” Luke pushes Zander as he laughs.

Zander laughs too. “Yeah, we found out on the mountain.”

William leans forward. “Wait you snapped in that God forsaken place?”

“Yep. It was great!” I preen.

Gideon chuckles. “Only you would find that exciting.”

The Alphas chuckle.

Luke folds his arms. “That’s pretty cool. Big, dangerous mountain mating? Might knock you down a peg Gid.”

Zander looks around. “What?”

Grey steps up. “This is where Luke rates the mate story. So far Bastian wins, but I still say I’m being cheated.” He scowls and folds his arms.

Luke points to him. “Killer Cowboy!!” he yells.

Grey points to Zander. “Angry, vengeful God and vampires!” He yells back.

Luke narrows his eyes. “Oh yeah.”

Jayson leans to Luke. “But he did unofficially knight you.”

Luke considers. “Yeah. I’ll give points to that.”

Zander folds his arms. “And I’m king and can have all of you thrown into a deepest, darkest hole I can find.” He arches a brow and looks at the Alphas.

They all look at each other then look at Zander. “You win!” They all say at the same time.

Luke turns to the back of room. “Hey, Bastian! You’re no longer number one!”

“What?!” We hear yelled from the back as we all laugh.

“OK. Introductions. Come on."

We push through the Alphas to meet my Alphas now.

We walk to the group of ten Alphas standing around mingling.

“Hey guys and girl" I give a little wave.

“Hey!” They all say.

A big, blonde haired Alpha approached. His light blue eyes sparkle and his white tshirt does little to hide his muscles and ink sleeve. “Glad your ok, Rick.” He claps my shoulder. “This the King?” He points to Zander.

“Yes. Zander Maximus, Alpha Brody Douglas.”

The two shake hands. “Quite the shake. “ Zander says.

“Iron three hours a day, man. You should join me.” He smiles and back hands Zanders chest.

Brody gets pushed aside. “Please. Some people have lives Brody.”

Another big Alpha with long, black curly hair stands in front of us. “Mateo Ortiz. So you’re a king?” He folds his arms across his thick chest covered in a metal shirt.”

“Yep.” Zander mimics his posture.

Mateo ticks his mouth. “Does that work for the ladies?”

Zander chuckles. “It helps I think.”

“Cool. I’ll have to try that…”

A hand comes into the circle. A man with textured, long, brown hair jumps in “Graham Mitchell. Nice to meet you. Don’t mind these guys. We’re a good responsible bunch when we need to be.”

“Geez, Graham, kiss his ass a little more, Brody scoffs.

Graham turns “The rest are talking, but the guy with the red hair, that’s Sawyer Dawn. The guy with shoulder length hair, that’s Hunter Adams. The gorgeous blonde in the corner, that’s acting Alpha Trinity Locklear.” He turns to Zander. “Sexy right?” He grins bouncing his brow.

“The angry guy against the wall, that’s Bear. We don’t know his last name. He barely says two words. Then we have Peter, the blonde guy. Darcy, the black haired guy talking to him. Owen, the guy with man bun and ink. He’s kind of the unofficial leader. Major stick up his ass.”

He points to a built, but small kid in the corner. Arms folded and not looking at anyone.

“Mr. Teenage Angst over there is Zane. Smart kid, just turned 18. He has to take over the pack after his dad died two years ago. He’s not having a good go of it at all. If something blows up in your face or you find your computer dissembled in pieces, it’s that guy. Some of the guys call him gremlin because he likes to take stuff apart.”

Zander looks confused

I chuckle. “It’s reference to a bad luck tale. If something breaks or falls apart, you blame gremlins.” I shrug.

He nods.

“Ricky!” I turn and a smile spreads across my face.

“My ladies!!’ I smile as we all gather in a group hug.

Sammy tries to get n too. “Dang girl! You’re going to blow up.” I say rubbing her baby bump.

Anna grabs my shirt. “What the hell is this?”

I look at my mark. “Guess who’s the new queen of the castle!” I throw my hands up.

“No! The King?!” Anna’s eyes shoot up.

“Get out!” Sammy pushes me.

“Ricky, I’m so happy!” Mia squeals and bounces.

Sarah comes in for a hug. “So happy for you girl."

“Sarah. How’s Shane?” I ask.

“He’s good. He’ll live. He’s having nightmares, but being attacked by vampires will do that.” She informs

“I’m sure he’ll get better in time.” I hug her again.

I look around the room. “I guess someone should call this meeting? Oh wait, that’s me.” I giggle.

I call everyone to the table and everyone situates themselves as best they can.

Our council room is a lot bigger than Falcon Ridge, but it feels dang small with 20 Alphas and 10 Lunas in the room.

We talk about what happened on Brynja Mountain and steps for going forward. Christians placement will be discussed further. It will be a little while before the ice wolves are fully trusted enough to join our alliance.

All in all it went pretty good. My Alphas actually behaved for once. Barely any fights. Score one for me.

After the meeting the Falcon Ridge Alphas decided to take in a little more sight seeing and get familiar with things here. Which means me and Zander have more time to ourselves.

Which pretty much means we lock ourselves in my office for a few hours until we practically die from exhaustion.
